President Bush and Laura Receive Rousing Welcome at Baylor Basketball Game

Baylor University Women’s Basketball game, and the wonderful response President Bush and Larua received.

President Bush watches Lady Bears game in first public outing since leaving office
waco trib
At times, it seemed as if Baylor Lady Bears basketball coach Kim Mulkey might turn and ask former President George W. Bush to exert his influence and change a referee’s call Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.
Who knows? Bush might have obliged.
In his first public appearance since leaving the White House, Bush sat beside his wife, Laura Bush, just behind the Baylor bench as the No. 4-ranked Lady Bears lost to No. 2 Oklahoma, 56-51.
Bush said recently in a television interview that he wanted to attend a Baylor women’s basketball game. He made good on that statement by joining the 8,220 in attendance Wednesday.
“Most of all, I was excited to get to say hello to Kim,” Bush said. “I got to know her when they won the national championship and they came to the Oval Office. She is a dynamic person. She’s really one of the country’s great coaches.”
Bush met the Lady Bears for a pre-game pep talk about 30 minutes before tipoff.
His message: Seize the moment.
“I told them that every moment in life is precious, and this is a big moment for them,” Bush said. “There’s no question in my mind they’ll give it their all, and I wish them all the best.”
The Bushes walked through the tunnel and into the Ferrell Center with Mulkey just before the playing of the national anthem.
At the first timeout, public address announcer Derek Smith introduced the former president and first lady to a standing ovation.
Though reserved for much of the first half, Bush stood and clapped with the Baylor fans seconds after Lady Bears guard Jessica Morrow connected on a 3-pointer at the end of the first half.
Before the game, the Baylor players took pictures with the former president and first lady.
“It was definitely an honor and a privilege to have him here,” Baylor sophomore guard Melissa Jones said. “To be able to talk to him and shake his hand was remarkable.”
Mulkey said a win over Oklahoma would have made the night perfect, but even having lost to the Sooners, the Lady Bears will cherish the memory.
“You bet it’s special,” Mulkey said. “It’s a night none of us will forget. He said to the kids in the locker room before the game this was his first public outing since being out of office. That’s pretty special. The only thing that could’ve made it better was a win.”
The Bushes stayed the entire game, keeping their seats even as many of the Lady Bears’ faithful exited with the Sooners in control with four seconds remaining.
The Bushes posed for photos during timeouts in the second half as Baylor fans grew bolder in approaching the courtside seats.
Mulkey’s daughter, Makenzie Robertson, joined the Bushes early in the second half. Robertson, a member of the Midway girls’ varsity basketball team, was still wearing her uniform, having played a game earlier in the evening in Cleburne.
Though the Lady Bears are now 0-1 with the Bushes in attendance, some Baylor fans say they would like to see the former first family become regulars at the Ferrell Center.

Good they deserve it. I can’t believe the media and Obama and Biden are still bashing Bush.

Michael Steele Wins RNC Chairmanship ~ Congratulations!

Michael Steele Wins RNC Chairmanship

“As a little boy growing up in this town, this is awesome,” said Steele, the most moderate candidate in the field and considered an outsider because he’s not a committee member.

In a brief acceptance speech, the new GOP chairman struck a tone of inclusiveness.

“We’re going to say to friend and foe alike: We want you to be a part of us, we want you to with be with us, and for those who wish to obstruct, get ready to get knocked over,” Steele said.

Wild Thing’s comment………
Kudos to you Michael. Now stand tall and proud. Be strong and push conservative principles. Do not falter and do not shrink from the fight against Obama and the Democrats.
When he was running for LT. Governor, the democratic party, with the help of Chuck Schumer, illegally gained access to his credit report .
From the past:

“Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican.
Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an “Uncle Tom” and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log.
Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report — the only Republican candidate so targeted.
But black Democrats say there is nothing wrong with “pointing out the obvious.”

Public Support for Obama’s Stimulus Bill Slips 42%

Public Support for Economic Recovery Plan Slips to 42%
Rasmussen Report …for complete article
Public support for the economic recovery plan crafted by President Obama and congressional Democrats has slipped a bit over the past week. At the same time, expectations that the plan will quickly become law have increased.
Forty-two percent (42%) of the nation’s likely voters now support the president’s plan, roughly one-third of which is tax cuts with the rest new government spending. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 39% are opposed to it and 19% are undecided. Liberal voters overwhelmingly support the plan while conservatives are strongly opposed.
Last week, support for the President’s plan was at 45% and opposition at 34%.
As they consider the size and scope of the $800-billion-plus economic recovery plan, 46% are worried that the government will end up doing too much while 42% worry that it will do too little .

Wild Thing’s comment………..
Obama: Those are not the supporters I once knew. LOL
NO wonder they’re trying to rush it through before people know what’s in it.

Stimulus Aids Illegal Immigrants

Stimulus aids illegal immigrants
Breitbart
The $800 billion-plus economic stimulus measure making its way through Congress could steer government checks to illegal immigrants, a top Republican congressional official asserted Thursday.
The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don’t have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.
Undocumented immigrants who are not eligible for a Social Security number can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the Senate would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits.
A revolt among GOP conservatives to similar provisions of a 2008 economic stimulus bill, which sent rebate checks to most wage earners, forced Democratic congressional leaders to add stricter eligibility requirements. That legislation, enacted in February 2008, required that people have valid Social Security numbers in order to get checks.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
As usual, the Dems are trying to buy future votes and enslave people by getting them dependent on government. If Republicans can stick together in opposition, people may see the damage that Democrats in control cause.

Gov. Palin Unveils ‘SarahPAC’

Gov. Palin Unveils ‘SarahPAC’
wnd
Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has started a new political action committee – in a move that many are seeing as a precursor to a possible run for president in 2012.
The organization now has a website, SarahPAC.com, registered to a post office box in Arlington, Va. The PAC is scheduled to post on the Federal Elections Commission website.
While the FEC website now lists Palin as a 2012 candidate, FEC representative Judith Ingram told WND the Alaska governor is not officially registered to run for the presidency, and the entry is only the FEC’s technical placeholder for the time being.
The PAC supports priorities Palin has had as Alaska governor, including: resource development, education, health, transportation and infrastructure development and reform and transparency in government.
The committee encourages citizens to stick to their values as President Obama takes charge of the nation.

“As a new president takes office and begins to lead our country, Gov. Palin believes that every one of us has a duty and responsibility in this time of economic crisis and international challenge. Each one of us must step up to the plate, get involved in the spirit of renaissance and renewal that is critical to America’s success,” it says.

Sarah Palin’s Official PAC Dedicated to building America’s future, supporting fresh ideas and candidates who share our vision for reform and innovation.
SarahPAC believes America’s best days are ahead. Our country, founded on conservative principles and the fight for freedom, must confront the challenges of the 21st century with integrity, innovation, and determination.
SarahPAC believes energy independence is a cornerstone of the economic security and progress that every American family wants and deserves.
SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of an historic renaissance that will build a better future for all. Health care, education, and reform of government are among our key goals. Join us today!

I love this 4th one, she talks abouto smaller government and small business owners. All very positive and conservative.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
Good for Sarah, she is going to start now. God bless Sarah and her family.
Her stance on alternative energy in Alaska is excellent. Her position on fiscal responsibility is not only excellent, but is diametrically opposed to what is going on in Washington.
I was very disappointed by Sen. McCain’s tepid defense of his choice of running mate, and his daughter Meghan’s coy refusal to answer any questions regarding Gov. Palin. When pressed by the reporter to say whether she still had the same favorable opinion as she had in an earlier appearance, Meghan McCain refused to answer, implying that she did not. I find that very disturbing, as Gov. Palin has been nothing but gracious.
She helped McCain and I think it is extremely bad taste for one thing to behave like John McCain and Meghan have been. I realize Meghan had said before she voted for Kerry, but even so the tremendous response Sarah got was such a plus for the campaign, she ( Meghan ) should be forever grateful.

Obama’s ILLEGAL Aunt Seeks Asylum

Obama’s aunt Zeituni Onyang

Obama’s illegal aunt seeks asylum
wnd
Obama’s illegal alien aunt has enlisted the help of an immigration lawyer to help her win asylum and stay in the United States.
Margaret Wong and Associates is representing Zeituni Onyango, the 56-year-old Kenyan half-sister of Obama’s deceased father, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Onyango and her lawyer are scheduled to attend an immigration hearing in Boston on April 1.

“The judge will be looking at evidence that they may not have been aware of four years ago,” Michael Rogers, spokesman for Wong, told the newspaper. “Wong is optimistic. We would have preferred to not conduct this case in the media spotlight, but that’s not going to happen.”

Onyango, revealed in November to be dwelling on Flaherty Way in a South Boston slum, has been living in the United States illegally, refusing to leave the U.S. for her Kenyan homeland after a judge rejected her request for asylum in 2004.
Boston Housing Authority spokesman Bill McGonagle told the Boston Herald she received a small stipend for working six hours a week as a volunteer resident health advocate in her complex.

“Auntie Zeituni” made a $260 campaign contribution to her nephew’s presidential bid from a work address in the city. She proudly displayed photos of Obama, including some that appear as old as 25 years, inside her first-floor apartment, McGonagle said.

The Bush administration issued a directive requiring high-level approval before agents could arrest fugitive immigrants on Oct. 31, the Associated Press reported. Immigration and Customs Enforcement documents reveal U.S. officials were concerned about implications of detaining Onyango in the days before the election.

“The Homeland Security Department censored parts of the document before turning it over to the AP, citing privacy and law enforcement reasons for withholding some of the information, including the name of the person who sent the e-mail,” the AP revealed. “It also blacked out the names of recipients of the directive, making it impossible to determine whether it was sent to anyone outside the department or outside government.”

ICE spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said the order was lifted by the end of November.
Shelli Baker of Boston’s WROL 950 AM told WND she went to the Boston apartment with Philip Berg after the election. While Onyango did not answer the door, she said something curious happened.
“I knocked on her door, and a nice young African-American greeted me. He was very happy. He saw my camera. I said, ‘Can you tell me, is she still here?’ And he said, ‘No, she went away with some men in a car about a week ago. It got too hot about these elections with her nephew.’

Baker asked the man if Onyango would be back. He replied, “I think so.”

She then asked him a strategic question: “Are you all rejoicing that her nephew born in Kenya was elected?”

He responded, “Oh yes. We had a party about that.”

Baker said the apartment management told her they knew Onyango would be back, despite her 4-year-old deportation orders.

“Evidently this type of obstinacy and persistence is very well known to the Obama family,” Baker told WND. “And they’re very proud of it.”

Now the Plain Dealer has revealed that Onyango left her home in Boston public housing to escape media coverage in December.
Onyango traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, and hired Wong to assist her in her fight to remain in the U.S.
According to the report, Wong said Onyango stayed with relatives in an African immigrant community while in Cleveland. Rogers said she returned to Boston later in December.
On Dec. 17, an immigration judge stayed an order to deport Onyango.
The judge reopened her case for asylum on Dec. 30, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Executive Office of Immigration Review said.
Earlier this month, Onyango attended Obama’s swearing-in ceremony and an inaugural ball at Washington’s Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, a historic luxury hotel, the Associated Press reported.
Rogers claims she never met with the president during inaugural festivities. She arrived with her immigration lawyer as her guest.

Wild Thing’s comment………
Want to make a bet she goes to the front of line in front of every other legitimate person seeking citizenship here in the US? And not only that, then she will get on welfare and any and all of the hand out programs the democrats put forth.
Hmmmmm how VERY odd…..She needs asylum from a country where Barry Soetoro is phenomenally popular??
We used to be a nation of laws, codified in the Constitution….but oh wait, that’s right we I mean THEY unfortunately have a President that has NOT obeyed our Constitution and loaths it .

Letters From Iraq: Outside the Wire

386th Air Expeditionary Wing

My day began at 5 a.m. by attending the “guard mount” along with the other Airmen who would be conducting a patrol outside the wire. This morning a salty old Master Sergeant was in charge and methodically discussed the concerns of the day. His manner bespeaks of a veteran who has clearly performed the mission more than once and is able to convey a sense of confidence expected of one with his experience.

Lt. Col. Greg Laffitte is serving with the 887th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron at Camp Bucca, Iraq. He writes weekly commentaries about his deployment.
CAMP BUCCA, Iraq
My day began at 5 a.m. by attending the “guard mount” along with the other Airmen who would be conducting a patrol outside the wire. This morning a salty old Master Sergeant was in charge and methodically discussed the concerns of the day. His manner bespeaks of a veteran who has clearly performed the mission more than once and is able to convey a sense of confidence expected of one with his experience.
Assembled for this “o-dark-early” briefing are the troops whose ages range from 20 years up to 50. No surprises here as the 50 year old guy is yours truly. A quick scan of the audience reveals not only men but women as well. From my vantage point I see the faces of your sons and daughters poised and ready to accomplish their mission. I am proud to serve with them and realize these are America’s finest.
My mission today was to provide emergency medical care in support of the Airmen patrolling sectors of the countryside. We would also provide security for a municipal meeting with local civic leaders where water supply concerns would be discussed. I was looking forward to this patrol as it would be my first time interacting with Iraqi citizens in their neighborhoods.
Once the guard mount was complete it was time to go. The convoy slowly headed out of the Forward Operating Base ensuring the 5 mph speed limit was not broken. Yes you can get a speeding ticket here and the troops don’t want to have to see the “shirt” when that happens.
Our armored vehicles are heavy and have knobs and various pieces of structure that can really put a dent in your “nugget” if you hit your cranium while not wearing your helmet. Standing over six feet tall, I have to really be careful not to bang my head, especially while exiting the truck. Once strapped in you put your headset on and make sure your “comm” is good to go. It never ceases to amaze me how a group of Airmen can so quickly turn a mundane subject into a hilarious comedy. There had been some talk about stopping at a local roadside vendor and trying out the menu. As the onboard medic I voiced my concerns and within minutes the troops had the conversation “bottomed” out if you get my drift.
We arrived at our village and exited the truck. My first walk down an Iraqi street was not exactly what I had expected. Off to my left was a pile of debris where at least six puppies were nursing from their mother.
Off to my right was a medium sized dog who apparently was having a bad day and liked to show his teeth!
After walking for less than 10 minutes, I was greeted by a crowd of school-aged boys who seemed like they had finally met up with a long lost friend. I could scarcely believe the reception I was being given.
These kids were wanting to shake my hand and in broken English kept telling me, “America number one!”
We conducted our business then made our way to the municipal building where, this time, we were greeted by older Iraqi gentlemen who were as courteous as your best friend’s family. I walked around the area keeping a constant look out for suspicious activity when I got hit.
The object was a soccer ball and the perpetrator was a 6-year-old boy with a passionate love of soccer. Within minutes this kid and I were kicking his soccer ball back and forth and having a good old time. Another boy whom I would have guessed to be about 14 approached me and in broken English began discussing professional wrestling. I somehow got the impression he thought I looked like some wrestler named The Undertaker whom he had seen on TV. My first up close and personal interaction with the people of Iraq was definitely a genuinely friendly exchange.
Iraq is a sovereign country as of Jan. 1, 2009. This is of enormous significance because the Iraqi government is clearly driving the bus now. American servicemen and women serving here appreciate that fact because it demonstrates how far we have come in creating stability and security in this country. The citizens of Iraq are definitely on the road to progress and are enthusiastic about an upcoming election only days away. Our role here is to defend the progress and protect against any insurgency which might attempt to disrupt that progress.
Before we departed the municipal compound, I noticed something worth mentioning in closing.
Standing to my left was an African-American Airman and to my right was a Filipino-American Airman.
Here were three ethnically diverse American servicemen united as one force protecting the rights of the Iraqi people who were also on the eve of a historic election. I think that’s kind of cool.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
God bless our troops. They have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to have such great success. All the branches of service need to be thanked.
I pray Obama will hold off on pulling out of Iraq and at least listen to our military on how to do things. Obama in NO way is qualified to make such decisions like this.

“How Much I Support Our President”

How Much I Support Our President
by RWJ
Big Hollywood

“America wanted change and we got it. Apparently the first thing that changed is that dissent is no longer the highest form of patriotism. Rush Limbaugh found that out when he was accused of wanting the President to fail. How dare he not support our President! According to Jon Stewart what Rush said was almost treasonous.”

“here is a list of examples showing just how much I support our President: “

1. I support him as much as Code Pink supports our troops.
2. I support him as much as N.O.W. supports Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
3. I support him as much as the Hollywood community supported Theo Van Gogh.
4. I support him as much as Nancy Pelosi supports the Catholic Church’s teachings on life.
5. I support him as much as Al Gore supports cutting down on his personal carbon footprint to save the world.
6. I support him as much as John Edwards supports The National Enquirer’s right to publish pictures of his girlfriend and baby.
7. I support him as much as Western gay rights groups support Mehdi Kazemi.
8. I support him as much as the Castro brothers support Oscar Biscet’s right to free speech.
9. I support him as much as Ted Kennedy supports renewable wind energy off the coast of his summer mansion.
10. I support him as much as Bill Clinton supports Hillary’s ambitions for higher office.
11. I support him as much as the National Education Association supports the rights of students and parents to get a quality education over the security of a teacher’s job.
12. I support him just as much as he supports the right of a baby who survives an abortion to not spend its only living moments waiting to die in a storage room.

I hope that clears everything up. Now could someone please tell what time the oceans are going to start receding because I’d really hate to miss that one.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
LOL this is excellent. Awesome list and feel free to add to it if you like.
I am so glad Breitbart has done this Big Hollywood site. Many of the writers use their names and some are a little more careful to protect their families since they are in showbiz and are concerned with still being able to make a living. This author uses initials and states in his bio it is to protect his family.
As I was noticing this it is yet again something we need to know about. Just how the left has a double standard in what is Free Speech.

Republicans Defiant, But House Passes Massive Stimulus Bill

Behind the Scenes: Republicans Stand Up for Taxpayers

Republicans Defiant, But House Passes Massive Stimulus Bill
Newsmax
(Snipets from the article)
The vote was 244-188.

“We don’t have a moment to spare,” Obama declared at the White House as congressional allies hastened to do his bidding in the face of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

The vote sent the bill to the Senate, where debate is expected to begin as early as this week on a companion measure already taking shape. Democratic leaders have pledged to have legislation ready for Obama’s signature by mid-February.

A mere eight days after Inauguration Day, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday’s events heralded a new era. “The ship of state is difficult to turn,” said the California Democrat. “But that is what we must do. That is what President Obama called us to do in his inaugural address.”

“Another week that we delay is another 100,000 or more people unemployed. I don’t think we want that on our consciences,” said Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the leading architects of the legislation.

Republicans said the bill was short on tax cuts and contained too much spending, much of it wasteful and unlikely to help laid-off Americans.

The party’s leader, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, said the measure “won’t create many jobs, but it will create plenty of programs and projects through slow-moving government spending.” A GOP alternative, comprised almost entirely of tax cuts, was defeated, 266-170, moments before the final vote.

On the final vote, the legislation drew overwhelming support among Democrats while all but a few Republicans opposed it. ……..This is NOT TRUE! ` Wild Thing

Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, sought to strip out all the spending from the legislation before final passage, arguing that the entire cost of the bill would merely add to soaring federal deficits. “Where are we going to get the money,” he asked, but his attempt failed overwhelmingly, 302-134.

Obey had a ready retort. “They don’t look like Herbert Hoover, I guess, but there are an awful lot of people in this chamber who think like Herbert Hoover,” he said, referring to the president whose term is forever linked in history with the Great Depression.

House passes stimulus plan, but with no Republican votes
Politics AP
To their credit, not a single Republican supported the Obama bailout and social spending package. All 178 Republicans in the House of Representatives turned it down
The vote was 244 to 188. None of the House’s 178 Republican members voted yes.

Despite a fresh plea for cooperation from President Barack Obama, who insisted that “we don’t have a moment to spare,” Republicans spurned the Democratic bill.

Most Republicans will oppose this bill for one reason: It won’t work,” said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., the chairman of the House Republican Conference, which helps promote party policies.

“We’re using our economic woes to grow government spending to epic and historic proportions,” charged Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif.

Some of the spending will be “wasteful,” said House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. A plan to provide funds to help consumers convert to digital television “looks like a slush fund to me,” he said.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
And 11 Dems voted against it, I bet Obama will be taking names. And I I want to thank the House Republicans for standing strong!! Boehner and Cantor should get a lot of credit. Unanimous opposition is outstanding.
The job of our conservative representatives now is to minimize the impact of the Obama Administration on our institutions and our individual liberties. The Democrats will try to strip them away, one by one. The fight for our nation has just begun.
