Michelle Obama Visits Department of Education in Washington

‘I know I said I wouldn’t be political but…”………Michelle Obama makes her first speech on educating America

The Daily Mail
She said her number one priority was to be America’s ‘mom-in-chief’.
But Michelle Obama is drawing comparisons with Britain’s Cherie Blair as it becomes clear she has no intention of being a stay-at-home mother during her husband’s presidency, even if home is the White House.
The new First Lady surprised Washington with a visit to the US Education Department to rally support for the controversial $900billion recovery package that is lumbering through Congress.
It was the first stop in a series of solo speeches planned for key government departments in the coming weeks.
And analysts said it underlined the Ivy League-educated lawyer’s determination to be regarded as more than just a mother to daughters Malia, ten, and seven-year-old Sasha.
Few had expected Mrs Obama, 45, to be so publicly active so soon after moving into the White House.

‘It really does surprise me because I had gotten the opposite impression from those statements about being first mom-in-chief,’ said Myra Gutin, a first lady historian and professor at Rider University in New Jersey.

Mrs Obama’s speech espousing the importance of the public schools system also got her into political hot water.
Don’t Know Much About History
The Wall Street Journal
Stopping first at the Department of Education to thank employees for their service and rally them for the tough work ahead,” the Associated Press. While at the Education Department, Mrs. Obama committed this howler:

In thanking the workers, she told them: “I am a product of your work.”

“I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the public schools that nurtured me and helped me along,” said Mrs. Obama, a Chicago native who attended its public schools as a child.

Michelle Obama was born in January 1964. The Department of Education began operation in May 1980, when Mrs. Obama was a 16-year-old high school junior. Apparently she is unaware that there were public schools before there was a federal Department of Education–though we suppose that’s evidence that the department does not bear all the blame for the schools’ going downhill.
Critics said she was opening herself up to charges of hypocrisy because her own children recently started attending the exclusive Sidwell Friends private school in the capital that costs almost $30,000 each a year.
And before their father was elected president, the girls both attended the private University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, where their mother was on the board.
Speaking to education officials on Monday, Mrs Obama said they faced a tough road ahead.

So many of you have been here struggling and pushing for decades and Barack and I want to say “thank you” for what you’ve done and “thank you” for what you will continue to do,’ she said.

She plugged her husband’s stimulus plan, saying it will help prevent teacher lay-offs and modernise schools.

‘There’s a lot of work to do and we’re going to need you,’ she said. ‘The children of this country are counting on all of us.’

She said the visit was the first of many to government departments in the coming weeks and months ‘to say hello, to learn, to listen, to take info back where possible.’

Daschle and Nancy Killefer Bows Out Due To Not Paying Taxes

Former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle withdraws his nomination as Obama’s health and human services secretary.

“But if 30 years of exposure to the challenges inherent in our system has taught me anything, it has taught me that this work will require a leader who can operate with the full faith of Congress and the American people, and without distraction,” he said.

“Right now, I am not that leader, and will not be a distraction. The focus of Congress should be on the urgent business of moving the president’s economic agenda forward, including affordable health care for every American.”

Obama pick, Nancy Killefer, withdraws as tax problems take their toll on nominees
Timesonline.co.uk
President Obama’s promise to set a new ethical standard in politics took another knock today when his budget enforcer was forced to withdraw amid revelations that she did not pay her taxes on time.
Nancy Killefer, a director of the McKinsey management consultancy firm whose brief was to cut waste and improve government efficiency, is the third member of the White House team to encounter trouble over her personal finances. Reports said that she failed for over a a year and a half to pay employment taxes on her domestic help.
Ms Killefer’s decision to withdraw her nomination follows similar controversies with Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle over their failure to pay back taxes.
Mr Geithner was confirmed as Treasury Secretary only after he apologised for his belated payment of tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes which he owed from his time working for the International Monetary Fund.
Mr Daschle’s prospects of receiving Senate confirmation for the position as Health Secretary are hanging in the balance after he admitted that he was “deeply embarrassed and disappointed” by his failure to pay $128,000 (£89,000) in taxes for a car and driver provided to him by a wealthy Democratic donor.

Wild Thing’s comment………
SahWEET!
Two down ( Richardson and Daschle ) and the rest of the administration to go. Obama not only has a problem with how he was vetted but he also has a problem in vetting his picks.
Geithner needs to step down now, as well.
Is Obama trying to say something by continually picking people with tax problems?

Please CLICK THIS LINK…this is a MUST SEE!!!!

The Zippo Lighter and Our Vietnam Veterans

Essential Equipment. Zippos were not always carried in GIs’ pockets, as this soldier shows – he’s keeping his tucked into his helmet camouflage band, right next to his smokes!
Founded in 1932, the Zippo Manufacturing Company of Bradford, Pennsylvania (zippo.com) has been producing these pocket-sized flame producers for three-quarters of a century. Yet, despite the lighter’s World War II and Korean War pedigrees, the “Vietnam Zippos” seem particularly unique and colorful, given their widely personalized.
Soldiers kept salt in the bottom cavities, called canned bottoms, of their Zippos, to replenish lost body salt. Other legendary Zippos were used to transmit signals or even provided a shield against enemy bullets. Staff Sergeant Naugle, who was saved because he was able to signal his position to the rescue helicopter, had a Zippo in his hand. Among men that had a close call with death, one of the luckiest was Sergeant Martinez, who Kept a Zippo in his chest pocket. A bullet struck his chest, only to be stopped by the Zippo. This was reported in Life magazine and also appeared in various advertisements.
Zippo lighters used by American soldiers during the Vietnam War have become collector’s items. Every Zippo from the war bears mute witness, conveying a great sense of having been there on the battlefield. The soldiers who faced death and stood on the brink of hell, carrying their Zippos, transformed these simple lighters into an integral part of their own bodies and souls. Zippo lighters have since became priceless collector’s items.
The 23rd Psalm… “Yea though I walk…” was engraved on more Zippos than any other.
The significance of this Zippo to a Vietnam Veteran transcends the purpose of lighting a cigarette.
There is a great website with tons of photos of Zippo Lighters

Government Takes Over, Obama Apologizes

Government takes over, Obama apologizes
Townhall
The Obama administration, completing its first full week, wasted no time getting priorities in order. First, issue formal apologies to the world, and then begin advancing massive, intrusive government at home.
The president chose Arab television, Al Arabiya, to give his first sit down interview. He took the opportunity to confirm the long held Arab view that the real problem is America and President Obama apologized on our behalf.

“…America was not born as a colonial power,” he told the Arab viewing audience – implying we are now. And he regretfully confessed that “We sometimes make mistakes. We are not perfect.”

Sorry, but weren’t we the ones that were attacked? Do we not stand in long lines and disrobe in airports because of them? Does anyone recall anywhere, anytime hearing apologies from any Arab or Muslim leader?
At the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the president’s confidant and advisor Valery Jarrett continued with apologies. This time to the world’s business and political movers and shakers.

Ms. Jarrett told the crowd that this economic crisis did not occur by “happenstance” but is the result of our “profound irresponsibility.”

And the Europeans, Asians, and Russians couldn’t have agreed more.
“Chinese and Russian leaders blamed a free-wheeling U.S. financial system as the source of the global economic crisis,” according the Wall Street Journal.

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barraso proclaimed confidently that “President Obama is moving toward a European-style model.”

Our new president is a man of action as well as a man of words, so while he and his staff apologized to the world for who we have been, he began the task at home to make us a different country.
Under the pretense of economic stimulus, the president began in earnest his work to nationalize the American economy.
He lobbied all week for a pork-laden spending bill that, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will add another trillion dollars to our national debt, which is rapidly becoming as large as our gross domestic product – the value of all goods and services that Americans produce in one year.
We should be thinking about King Solomon’s words in Ecclesiastes that there is “nothing new under the sun.”
Nowhere — anytime or anyplace — has economic growth and prosperity been created by government taking the money of its own citizens and spending it as it sees fit.
Now, we go beyond taking it from our own citizens and we’re taking it from the children and grandchildren of our own citizens.
Aside from the pure waste, government spending for “stimulus” and bailouts prevents and discourages the real adjustments that need to take place.

In an interview last December, Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen pointed out that tough and lean times are exactly the environment that produces innovation. According to the professor, “…if you give people a lot of money, it gives them the privilege of pursuing the wrong strategy for a very long time. In an environment where you’ve got to push innovations out the door fast and keep the cost of innovation low, the probability that you’ll be successful is actually much higher.”

It’s exactly this kind of innovation that we need. And it’s exactly what we will not get as we pour trillions of debt-ridden government money — obligations made on us taxpayers — into the economy.
Sure there will be beneficiaries. But they’re all in Washington or getting money directly from Washington.
At $3.2 billion, lobbying expenditures in 2008 were up 14 percent over 2007. Of the nation’s major metropolitan areas of more than 1 million, Washington has the second-lowest unemployment rate in the country. And its average household income is almost 50 percent above the nation’s average.
If and when Barack Obama stops genuflecting before an unfree world and remembers that America is about freedom, perhaps our recovery will start.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
Excellent article on HO-Bama .
There is nothing like having a president, who blames his own country for everything that’s wrong in the world. He’s only getting away with it because the media hates America as much as he does.

Jim DeMint Statement on Holder Nomination for Attorney General
his website
February 2, 2009 – WASHINGTON, D.C.

“Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement regarding his decision to oppose President Obama’s nomination of Eric Holder for U.S. Attorney General:

“The Attorney General is our nation’s top law enforcement official, and Americans deserve better than someone who helped pardon terrorists and tax cheats and who is hostile to Second Amendment rights,” said Senator DeMint.

As assistant U.S. attorney general during the Clinton Administration, Holder recommended that Marc Rich, one of the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” at the time, receive a presidential pardon. Rich was indicted in 1983 for evading more than $48 million in taxes. He was charged with 51 counts of tax fraud and for running illegal oil deals with Iran during the 1979-1980 hostage crisis.

Holder repeatedly pressed his subordinates at Department of Justice to drop their opposition to a controversial 1999 pardon of 16 members of two Puerto Rican terrorist groups convicted of bank robbery, possession of explosives and a conspiracy that was linked to more than 146 bombings in the U.S., multiple armed robberies, six murders and hundreds of injuries.

The two largest Second Amendment advocacy groups, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the National Rifle Association (NRA), representing more than 4.3 million Americans, both opposed the confirmation of Holder. He joined an amicus brief opposing an individual’s right to keep and bear arms in the District of Columbia vs. Heller U.S. Supreme Court case. “

WIMPY Lindsey Graham Supports Holder for Attorney General
his website

“Mr. Holder understands the threat to our nation posed by terrorism. In the Judiciary Committee’s hearing on the nomination, Mr. Holder agreed with me the United States is undoubtedly at war with a vicious and shadowy enemy, and that the war began before the attacks of September 11, 2001.

“Mr. Holder agreed with me as well that the battlefield in the War on Terror is the entire globe. It is not limited to the combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq, but also includes the financial system, through which terrorist networks are funded; and the internet, through which terrorists communicate and spread their message of violence and hatred. Indeed, the tragic events of 9/11 proved that the battlefield even extends within our nation’s own borders. The question of how best to win the War on Terror is the most profound issue facing the next Attorney General. Mr. Holder understands the nature of this enemy and this conflict.

“There are some who argue that Mr. Holder’s previous mistakes should bar him from serving as Attorney General. In expressing my support for Mr. Holder, I do not mean to minimize those misjudgments. Indeed, Mr. Holder faces his past mistakes fully — admitting them, learning from them, and promising to exercise better judgment in the future. While I understand concern with Mr. Holder’s past errors, it would be a mistake in its own right to reject on that basis this qualified nominee who comprehends the challenge our nation faces in defeating terrorism.

“I look forward to working with President Obama and Mr. Holder to fashion a system of detention for the War on

Terror involving all three branches of government and of which all Americans can be proud. Mr. Holder and I agree that in order to maintain the critical moral high ground in this war, we must treat detainees fairly, with more process than they would necessarily provide us. We also agree that we must not release dangerous warriors back to the fight against our nation. Criminalizing this war would be a terrible mistake, and Mr. Holder understands that.

“Four years ago, President Obama, then Senator Obama, stated on the floor of the Senate that the test of a nominee for Attorney General is, “whether that person is ready to put the Constitution of the people before the political agenda of the President.” Eric Holder meets that test and for that reason I will support his nomination.”

I am just stunned that Jeff Sessions voted for this thug. And I am not surprised by McCain voting yes but Saxby?? Sarah Palin did all she could to help him get elected.
I forget. Is he one of the tax cheats, lobbyists, Marxist activists, or just another one of the scheister lawyers?…just kidding, But my gosh this Obama’s change are all people that should be in jail….at least that!

WH Spokesman Robert Gibbs on Tax Cheat Daschle: “Nobodys Perfect”

WH Spokesman Robert Gibbs on Tax Cheat Daschle: “Nobodys Perfect”

Washington Post

Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.), one of two Republicans who opposed the confirmation of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, was the only lawmaker to suggest publicly yesterday that Daschle’s nomination may be in jeopardy.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) said on CBS’s “Face the Nation”: “I think I’m going to just wait until [committee members] give me their opinion. But it was a surprise. . . . It is quite a surprise.”

“We’ll have to question former senator Daschle and understand his explanation, and then have a conversation about it and see where it goes,” Sen Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said on “Fox News Sunday.” Kyl, who was Geithner’s strongest critic on the committee, said it appears “too early to tell” whether Daschle’s difficulties will disqualify him for the post. Kyl suggested that Obama is benefiting from his popularity and a double standard, and that President George W. Bush’s nominees might not have survived similar mistakes.

“President Obama wanted to have a very ethical administration starting out and so on, but I think he’s seeing how hard it is to avoid these kind of problems,” Kyl said. “And I just wonder if President Bush had nominated these people, what folks would be saying about that.”

Wild Thing’s comment………
First I have to say this….I do NOT like Gibbs!! He is a shoddy excuse for a human being. Right alongside his boss.
The Washington Post is calling it a ” GLITCH “?? LOL well now there we have it. It is either that we have issues with this…yes issues they like to call it too. And now we can call it a glitch. The glitch is a $140,000 in back taxes and penalties. But who is counting certainly not if a person is a democrat politician.
But get this…. Daschle’s says ” I have no excuses”
And Obama said…..” I stand behind him. ”
LOL I am so sorry but this is so out there, that it would be hard to believe if we were not living it.
BUT look at this…..

“Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter.”
—Sen. Tom Daschle, Congressional Record, May 7, 1998, p. S4507.

Well I guess we should all cut him some slack; we’ve all made our share of little mistakes. Who hasn’t committed $120,000 dollars worth of tax fraud?
Democrats love raising taxes. It’s no wonder, they never pay them.

B.Hussein Obama ‘guarantees’ West Bank Withdrawal

Obama ‘guarantees’ West Bank withdrawal
Palestinian officials rejoice at ‘new tone’ of White House
wnd
The Palestinian Authority received a guarantee from President Obama’s administration that understandings reached with Israel during U.S.-backed negotiations while President Bush was in office would be utilized as starting points for current and future talks with the Jewish state.
With new general Israeli elections scheduled for next week, the move could limit the incoming Israeli prime minister, since the PA can point to points of agreement during previous talks between Bush and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The PA officials, speaking on condition their names be withheld, said they were enthusiastic about the new tone of the White House and about recent meetings with Obama’s Mideast envoy, former Democratic Sen. George Mitchell. They said they believe that under Obama the Palestinians can extract from Israel concessions reaching “much further” than during talks held under the previous administration.
“Regarding all understandings achieved between the parties, the Obama administration told us they will give guarantees to carry them out,” said a top PA official.
“With Obama, the number of settlers to be removed from the West Bank will much be more important than 60,000,” said the PA official, referring to previous negotiations in which Israel expressed a willingness to withdraw from up to 94 percent of the West Bank and move about 60,000 settlers into central settlement blocks closer to Jerusalem.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
This will likely prove a strong test of Bibi’s will. Obama will prefer a peacenik line, but if Bibi is really determined and rallies Israelis, he can buck and maybe ( hopefully) Hussein Obama will back down. ( wishful thinking here)

Lugar Backs $1 Gas Tax to Force Energy Changes

Lugar backs $1 gas tax to force energy changes
Journal Gazette
Every gallon of gas should cost $1 more, Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., said, so Americans buy less and the country imports less foreign-produced oil.
In a column in today’s Washington Post, Lugar endorsed the proposal of a conservative columnist, who advocated the $1-a-gallon tax last month.
Charles Krauthammer said the $1 tax should be returned to people through lower payroll taxes or higher Social Security payments so their out-of-pocket expenses are the same.

“Americans sent nearly $430 billion to other countries in 2008 for the cost of imported oil – an amount equal to almost half of President Obama’s stimulus package,” Lugar wrote. “Those hundreds of billions should be spent to build a new energy economy here, not shipped to dangerous regimes overseas.”

Lugar said there’s recent evidence that higher pump prices make Americans use less gas.

“When gasoline prices topped $4 a gallon last year,” he said, “Americans chose to use less, leading to a major drop in gasoline consumption.”

That’s a good thing, Lugar has said repeatedly, because it makes the country less reliant on oil-producing countries that threaten U.S. national security. Three years ago he called dependence on foreign oil “the albatross of national security.”

“Nearly every major foreign policy challenge we face is aggravated by our continued addiction to oil,” he wrote in the Washington Post column, pointing to what can happen when energy is used as a weapon, such as Russia’s vise on Ukraine. Russia provides nearly all of Ukraine’s heating oil and has raised prices or restricted exports during two cold winters.

“A new president and changed economic conditions offer the chance to take a bold step toward freeing our nation from the grip of foreign petroleum,” Lugar wrote.

Lugar said governments have two ways of changing people’s behavior: make it illegal or tax it. A price increase through higher taxes, he said, is “almost always the most efficient, least invasive and most transparent remedy for market failure.”

He said increasing the cost of filling a gas tank would underscore the true cost of “our oil addiction” that includes not only the price of a barrel of oil but the “national security, economic vulnerability and environmental damage” of imported oil.
With higher gas prices, Lugar said, consumers would demand more fuel-efficient vehicles, choose non-petroleum alternatives to power them and find public-transit options that work.

“Pricing gasoline to reflect its true cost to the nation would help spur a vast market in which oil alternatives such as advanced biofuels would become competitive and innovation would flourish,” he said.

Lugar said Krauthammer’s suggestion for returning the $1-a-gallon tax to consumers is an important part of the idea. If reducing the payroll tax and increasing Social Security payments is too complicated, he said, “the government could regularly send a check to everyone over 18.”
Lugar is the first senator to endorse the $1-a-gallon tax and said he’s ready to work with the Obama administration to push it.
The White House has not commented directly on Lugar’s proposal. But in December, Obama said he opposes a gas tax that would be used for developing alternative energy.

“Putting additional burdens on American families right now, I think, is a mistake,” Obama said in a December “Meet the Press” interview. But he was not asked about the idea of increasing the price of gas with a per-gallon tax that would be refunded to consumers.

Lugar wrote that “no tax is perfect, and some special provisions may be necessary for individuals and groups disproportionately affected. But we as a nation are already suffering every day from our oil dependence, and decisive measures are needed.”

Wild Thing’s comment……..
“Lugar said there’s recent evidence that higher pump prices make Americans use less gas”
LMAO oh my gosh, I hope he did not lose any sleep over figuring this gem out.
What the heck has happened to ,Drill, Baby Drill? I miss that and we need it!!!!
Rather then supporting activities that will result in more and cheaper energy supplies, these dopes want to stay focused on policies that force the american people to pay more, use less and allow the government to control their lives.
RINOs are going to be the death of this country when they work with democrats.

Typical ABC Hit Piece On Gov. Palin

Palin stiffs the House Republicans
ABC
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports: When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party’s 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.
Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.
So where is Palin this weekend? She’s in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.
“She lied to us,” said a Republican at the retreat.
Asked why Palin told the Republicans she could not leave Alaska this weekend, Palin spokesman Bill McAllister offered this non-responsive answer:
“My understanding is that the governor has not scheduled any partisan events on her current trip to D.C.,” McAllister told ABC News.
The House Republicans seemed to do just fine without Palin. Their list of speakers included Republican stars Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich.
Asked about Palin’s no-show, House Republican leader John Boehner shrugged.
“Whatever,” Boehner said.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
I am so glad to see this article, because it means Sarah is still a huge threat, to the left and to the RINO’s as well. God bless you Sarah. I want to show you some things.
First of all this:
” She lied to us,” said a Republican at the retreat.
Can ABC name him or her that said this?
ABC reporting a story without named sources or attribution. It ought to be considered a political hit job unless they are able to provide facts rather than interpretation and names rather than anonymous sources.
She had already announced to the people of Alaska that this weekend was not going to include any partisan activity. If she had attended that event, she would have caught hell at home.
Her appearance at the Alfalfa Club dinner which is HUGE and a much bigger deal was planned quite sometime ago, whereas the other event was probably organized more recently.
she sent to the Alaska congressional delegation, and the 4 videos I think it was a couple of days ago, her speech State to State address where she spoke about the stimulus bill and also how the only thing she was concerned with in the bil are the things dealing with infrastruture, roads etc. She has stated several times she is against 99 percent of the stimulus bill.
She will be speaking at CPAC and she attended the Republican Governors Conference back in December.
She explained this in a interview she gave in Alaska last week. She gets hundreds of invitations to speak. She is only accepting those that promote Alaska’s business.
And there is also this………….
Mike Pence Reshapes Retreat to Aid Rebuilding Plan
Roll Call

“Chairman Mike Pence (Ind.) has made sweeping changes to the agenda that the House Republican Conference will follow at its annual retreat this week. Rather than running a typical “rally the troops” program, he’s hoping to use the gathering as a platform for the broader rebuilding effort under way within the GOP. To that end, the list of those invited to join the House Republicans at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Va., on Thursday sounds like a 2012 presidential primary ballot.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels are among the speakers scheduled to attend, while three other governors — California’s Arnold Schwarzenegger, Alaska’s Sarah Palin and Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal — sent their regrets, according to sources familiar with the guest list.

Soooooooo here is my question…………Why no hit piece on Arnold or Jindal, only Sarah.

.

And this one last thing to share with you…….
This is the only video, the media was not allowed at this event.

Palin lying low during Washington trip
cnn for complete article…..
The Alfalfa Club dinner is the ultimate venerable gathering of elite politicians, but it has become an especially big draw this year, because White House sources have confirmed Obama is slated to attend.
Palin’s office also said she had plans to participate in a number of other nonpartisan functions while she’s in Washington over the weekend, including a private dinner Friday night at the residence of prominent businessman and former Republican operative Fred Malek.
A number of Republican and Democratic senators are also on the guest list for that event, including Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-California, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.
Palin also planned to take part in a luncheon Saturday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a foreign policy think tank.

“She came into the campaign as the maverick, as the person outside the establishment,” Zelizer said. “What she really needs to do now is build her credentials with the establishment. Right now, the goal is not to build her support with the grassroots, it’s to build her support inside the beltway.”

OK, so the only part of the stimulus package that Sarah is wanting to make sure passes is about the infrastructure. ( roads etc. for Alaska), She said she is against the rest of it .
An elected leader’s politics are defined by the pattern of their political behavior over time. The pattern of Sarah Palin’s behavior shows her to be a true conservative.
She talked to the reporters and said she was going to Washington to make sure Alaska received their share for infrastructure dollars. Also, she mentioned some concerns about the infrastructure projects that may be funded through the federal stimulus package. She says that Alaska will need more time to implement any funded projects because of the weather conditions there: it’s too cold to build roads and bridges for a greater percentage of the time than, say, in North Carolina .
She also mention an exemption Alaska needs in terms of time lines for some shovel ready projects that congress says they have to be shovel ready and have to get them out the door wheather it be 90 days or 120 days Alaska needs an exemption because of climate.
She’s being pummeled by Alaska Democrats for not seeking more money. Don’t believe all this propaganda.
Look at this……..
Palin, other state leaders at odds over stimulus funds
Juneau Empire
“Lawmakers say there are concerns that Palin is seeking too little federal stimulus money, and Alaska may not get its fair share.”
She’s only requested $150 million for 4 gasline-related projects and 1 project to upgrade the Kodiak missile battery. Furthermore from the above article:
“Palin issued her list on Jan. 12, saying it would not be a good idea to ask for more, and cautioned it was necessary to be “mindful about the effect of the stimulus package on the national debt.”
This is just another lame MSM attempt to divide and conquer with Palin as a juicy target with her being in DC this weekend. Don’t fall for it. That doesn’t mean that a buch of RINO governors don’t have their hands out. Unfortunately they do.
“Palin has campaigned nationally against earmark abuses, and asked state agencies to limit their earmark requests. “
“Hoffman said his definition of earmarks may differ from the governor’s. “
