Traitor John al-Murtha and the Democrats Plan for Defeat

“They won’t be able to continue. They won’t be able to do the deployment. They won’t have the equipment, they don’t have the training and they won’t be able to do the work. There’s no question in my mind.”

– John Murtha
Washington Times
In the wake of September 11, McGovernism — that is, the reflexive opposition to the use of force by the United States against foreign enemies that has dogged the Democratic Party since Richard Nixon’s time — became more of a liability than ever.
But in last year’s congressional elections, the Democrats came up with a shrewd, cynical new P.R. strategy that has until now served them well: saying lots of nice things about American soldiers fighting in Iraq while simultaneously advancing resolutions that denigrate their mission. But the decision to effectively cut off funds by micromanaging their use — rather than by doing so directly — may also be unconstitutional.
When the House votes today on the resolution denouncing Mr. Bush’s plans for additional troops to combat al Qaeda and other terrorist groups in Iraq, members should be under no illusions about what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic Party leadership are trying to do: to make it impossible for American troops to properly do their job in Iraq.
In an interview yesterday with MoveCongress.org, a Web site for a coalition of anti-war groups, Mr. Murtha, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, explained that by placing conditions on $93.4 billion in new combat funds, he would make be able to effectively stop the troops in their tracks.

“They won’t be able to continue. They won’t be able to do the deployment. They won’t have the equipment, they don’t have the training and they won’t be able to do the work. There’s no question in my mind,” Mr. Murtha said.

“We will set benchmarks for readiness,” a top Democratic leadership aide told the nonpartisan Politico.com Web site, which summarized the Democrats’ strategy this way: “If enacted, these provisions would have the effect of limiting the number of troops available for the Bush surge plan, while blunting the GOP charge that Democrats are cutting funding for the troops in Iraq.”

Aside from doing severe damage to the war effort in Iraq, the Democrats’ political strategy to cripple the war effort by attaching thousands of legislative strings to war funding may also be unconstitutional. Noted attorney and constitutional scholar David Rivkin makes a strong case that Congress cannot act like a “puppet master” appropriating and authorizing funds while attaching conditions that would effectively transform the president into a marionette.
If Congress wants to cut off funding, it must do so honestly and directly, rather than dishonestly through micromanagement. In addition to paving the way for a geopolitical catastrophe for this country, the Democratic leadership may be setting the stage for a constitutional confrontation with the White House.

HERE is Murthda and the Democrats plan Murtha describes his strategy for not only limiting the deployment of troops to Iraq but undermining other aspects of the president’s foreign and national security policy. If you have the stomach to watch this entire thing … do!

Wild Thing’s comment…….
What a loathsome scourge has been unleashed upon our country!!! OH and get this, one of the Haditha Marines who Murtha called a cold-blooded killer is actually from Murtha’s district?
Darryl Sharratt (father of LCpl. Justin Sharratt) has asked repeatedly sent requests to meet with Murtha or anyone in his office. Darryl has never even had the courtesy of a returned phone call.
It comes down to this in pure vile fact!!
The Bush administration “won’t be able to continue.
They won’t be able to do the deployment.
They won’t have the equipment.
They don’t have the training and they won’t be able to do the work,”
Murtha said in the post on the Democrat-friendly Web site MoveCongress.org.
“This vote will limit the options of the president and should stop this surge.”

From the information I have read, this strategy is already well underway. In acting on the Omnibus spending bill, the Congress has cut the Army budget for BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) in half. Since BRAC is mandated by law, the Army will have to move money from other accounts in order to meet the BRAC statuatory requirements. One way they have done this is to inactivate the 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division rather than to move this brigade from Germany to Fort Bliss (this brigade is just now returning from a tour in Iraq). This will make the brigade unavailable for a return deployment to Iraq when their turn next comes.
Democrats are also moving to remove funding for an Army Stryker Brigade’s equipment from the Supplemental Funding bill. This means that this brigade cannot convert as scheduled and therefore will not be available for deployment to Iraq.
Their scheme is designed to fool the American people by saying that they are “supporting the troops” and “funding the troops”. Neither statement is true. They are supporting the enemy, of that there is no doubt.
The President said of Congresses’ plans: ‘I hope they don’t do anything to stop the troops from doing what I told them to do’. I’m hoping with all my heart that those words mean what they would coming fom a Man(as opposed to a politician).
Push these clowns to the edge, Mr. President, you might be surprised at the resolve of those of us and others behind you.

Lynn says:

Why do I get the feeling that these people and corporations will be the first ones whining when the war comes to our shores? Blaming the President for letting it happen? The Dummycrats will be the first pointing the finger–that he didn’t go far enough, even after they tied his arms behind his back.
Like they’re perfect and he’s somehow flawed.
They just don’t see the danger. They live their lives with blinders on. Some even have their heads up their tails and some have their heads buried in the sand!
I’d love the see a future of a world of freedom for everyone–where a child can ride a bike, skateboard, roller skate, jump rode, swing on a swng set, and play in a sandbox–where girls don’t have to worry about playing outdoors in tshirts and shorts or jeans–where women can go to college and decide for themselves if they want a career in anything they want or if they want to marry and have a family–where everyone can speak their opinions without fear of retaliation.

Rhod says:

Islamists are watching this. They won’t stop, either. And when a lib puddle like San Fran, or Manhattan, or Seattle gets blown away, things will change. Somehow I don’t feel sorry for them.

Lynn says:

I’m reminded of a quote from the Patriot–Why should I trade 1 tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away?
I’d rather fight the one on his soil.

BobF says:

It’s hard to believe Murtha once wore the uniform of an Officer in the United States Marines. But then, Benedict Arnold wore the uniform of a General in the Continental Army before he became a traitor to his nation. The difference between Murtha and Arnold is that Arnold was scorned by the British who didn’t trust trators where Murtha is uplifted and honored by Dmeocrats who relish trators.
The people of Pennsylvania’s 12 Congressional District are on the same level as those from Massatwoshits who continually elect Kerry and anyone named Kennedy.

Rhod says:

It occurred to me on another blog, on another subject, that the most sickly, most ignorant and determined Talibani, huddled in a cave in a winter blizzard is a more dignified, honest and trustworthy creature than a liberal Democrat.
If I had to choose whose hand to shake, it wouldn’t be the liberal’s.
You’ll go mad it you can’t believe that Murtha will end up as one of the most shameful and reviled pieces of garbage in American history.
We see these things very poorly. Somewhere deep in the hearts of many Democrats, and certainly Republicans, is a revulsion for this fat, yammering, slack-jawed megalomaniac loser, who sold his honor (if there way any), and his potential dignity for the frigid smile of Nancy Pelosi, a few words of praise from a traitor press, and the orgasm of being seen on a podium and his name on a House Bill.
Everywhere in this cretin’s life is the mark of the grovelling, boot-licking, shitbreath buttboy, from the faint praise of his Purple Heart and a Bronze with no V (this just doesn’t happen, and it’s the award given to damn the man, not praise him), to his wandering the halls of VA Hospitals to associate himself with men better than he is, this bloated tick has been gathering around himself the glow of other’s dignity and heroism.
He knows he’s a coward, he knows he’s the purest example of the attention-hungry shell of a man, and there’s no hell deep enough for him. You’re welcome to him, Democrats.

Rhod says:

Oh yeah. And he didn’t even have the balls to take the money up front. He had to hide to do it, the fu**ing slug.

Jack says:

Remember the Killing Fields? That is the legacy the Democrats left to Asia in 1973. Starting February 4, 1945 the legacy has been building every year, remember that the U.N. was one of their schemes, solely founded by Communists. A pull out from Iraq will signal the butchery of anyone who ever had any association with the alliance, not to mention making the enemy stronger.
Yalta was one of those legacies. It’s long a nine part read.

yankeemom says:

I. Can’t. Stand. This.
Jack, you are right – more Killing Fields in the future of Iraq and who’s to say it won’t happen here. Right now we have individual terrorists in this country (even tho the FBI won’t acknowledge that they are terrorists). It’s in the how-to-be-a-terrorist handbook.
The liberals really believe they are doing “a good thing”. I guess you can’t see the blood on your treasonous hands through rose-colored glasses.

Mark says:

There is an old saying in the Marine Corps, 99 % gentlemen and 1 % shitbird, I guess we know what category Murtha falls into.
He is a disgrace to the uniform. Webb, Murtha they all have a few medals and wear them on their sleeve for all the world to see, when the real Marines, the ones who went before them and after sit silently by and watch with dismay this display of flummery. These two especially, Marines are supposed to take care of their own, not put a knife in the back of brothers in arms.
At the Chosin Reservoir, a Real Marine Lt.Col Puller commander of the First Marine Regiment, was told to leave without his dead, that they would be picked up later. Chesty told them to go to hell, “we are taking every Marine out of here or none of us will come out”.
No wonder he won 5 Navy Crosses, these two assholes Webb and Murtha wouldn’t make a pimple on Chesty’s ass.

TomR says:

Something bad happens when people are in the wash DC political environment more than just a few years. Veterans with lots of medals or no medals, no big difference. I think this foul political air got to Jim Webb, it surely got to Randy Cunningham. These are just two examples of the need for stringent term limits
Murtha is a different story. He went to DC already fouled. Like JOhn KErry, Murtha probably had political plans prior to his military time, and everything he did in the Marines was for future political use.
These damn Democrats do have a successful way to defeat out efforts in Iraq. The Achilles Heel of the military, funding. That it endangers our soldiers more, is of little concern to the politicians. I lay a lot of the blame on the Republican Party which, if it had stood firm and bravely on it’s core values, would have prevented a Dem majority in Congress.

Rhod says:

Interesting post over at Captain Ed’s about the Washington Post editorial about the pustule Murtha and his defunding plan, which they claim will hurt the military on the ground in Iraq.
They also rightly point out, if in not in these words, that Murtha is a freaking moron. He claims Iraq will be more stable without a US presence (nobody believes this), that Abu Ghraib should be bulldozed (it’s already empty of prisoners) and that Americans are “living in Saddam’s palaces” in The Green Zone (the Green Zone is almost entirely occupied by Iraqis).
The man is a totally freaking numbskull, but The WaPo goes on to say Pelosi is just as stupid to let him carry this ball, and that it will “damage their party”.
That’s their concern. That the Democrats will suffer under Murtha and Pelosi, which tells you something about the MSM and the Democrats.

Tincan Sailor says:

I will make this short and sweet, nothing that
looks like that can still be alive…They need to
put the old bastard in the home with some depends
and let him drool all over him-self…He doesn’t
belong out with real people ##%$*^^+*&&%$#@…

Mark says:

Tom
Give Webb a few years and he will be as corrupt as the rest of them, if he isn’t already. He should know better but he doesn’t and as far as I am concerned he has betrayed his country and the Marines. That is one thing you don’t do. Our troops are in harms way and he is prancing around the capitol spouting all this crap about bringing the troops home without first finishing the job, Marines don’t cut and run. James Webb is a disgrace.
As far as Duke Cunningham goes that was pure greed.

raz0r says:

Line them all up against a wall. Shoot them. Treasonous scum.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, you are so right, they will be the first to complain.

Wild Thing says:

Bob, yes and it makes me feel ill how there are people that actually think Murtha is OK. (shaking my head)

Wild Thing says:

Rhod, I agree Murtha belongs to the party of disgrace and no honor.
I was thinking of Zell Miller and how this must make him feel sick and ashamed, he gave such an awesome speech at our Republican convention. How the Dems and media hated him and lied about him and slandered him. Then I compared that to how Pelosi thinks Murtha is her spokesperson and how they work together in their sick horrible agenda.
Oh my gosh Rhod how awful they are.

Wild Thing says:

Jack thank you so much. I am going to read it for sure.

Wild Thing says:

Yankeemom, what gets me too is that the enemy is watching, listening…… and so are our awesome troops. Our enemy will be revived and our troops will feel so badly to know what is happening, it breaks my heart and angers me at the same time.

Wild Thing says:

Mark thank you so much. One of my Uncles was a Marine and he was at Chosin Reservoir. Both his feet were amputated from frost bite, and he said many times he would do it again if he was needed by our country.
I would love to have Chesty tell Murtha what he thinks. The sky would light up and fireworks would be going off. God bless Chesty! God Bless our Marines and all our troops.

Wild Thing says:

Tom yes, power can be a sickness especially when held by weak men of character and DC is full of weak character men and women. An evil that wants to destroy America as we have known it, but they will be the biggest complainers when their freedom is gone and we live a different life style in fear of our enemy on our own land.

Wild Thing says:

Tincan Sailor, Murtha belongs some place for sure, and not in government. I have some ideas where he can lay in rest. OH yess

Wild Thing says:

razOr, yes, we really need to bring back the punishment for treason and traitors.
