As a former athlete and coach I can tell, without a doubt, that the thing about athletics is that they are great equalizers.
If you an athlete at any level, you cannot afford to stand still and rest on your accomplishments. You have to assume, and rightfully so, that there is sombody better and their main goal is to take your place.
Athletics is not a “socialistic” system. You get where you are by the strength of your own personal effort, not on some one else’s coattails, or someone giving you a place on the medal stand.
It comes as no surprise, that these “Olympians” see the same down deep drive to keep getting better in Mitt Romney.
