Politicizing Procurement: Will President Obama’s Proposal Curb Free Speech and Hurt Small Business?
On Thursday, May 12 at 1:30 pm, the House Small Business Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a joint full committee hearing entitled Politicizing Procurement: Will President Obama’s Proposal Curb Free Speech and Hurt Small Business? The hearing took place in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
This hearing examined the proposed Obama Executive Order (“EO”) mandating the disclosure of political donations by government contractors as a prerequisite to receiving a government contract, and evaluate its impact and consequences upon the federal acquisition system. Specifically, the Committees was concerned that this proposed EO will inject politics into the procurement process, violated political free speech rights, and usurp the legislative power of Congress.
Wild Thing’s comment…….
The EO under discussion clearly has no other purpose than to identify the political affiliations of gov contractors BEFORE they are hired. Unacceptable! The purpose of this executive order is to force political contributors to reveal their identity so that they can be attacked.
This man Gordon is saying that contributions will not be a criterion – but he is lying through his teeth. And Allen West does such a beautiful job showing the world just how much a liar Gordon truly is.
I love this guy. Most politicians act like they know what they’re talking about but Lt. Col West knows what he’s talking about.
BobF, yep, you can take the Lt. Col out of the Army, but you can’t take the Army out of the Lt. Col. Which is exactly what the country needs now.
Yup, a political litmus test… Chicago politics at work.
The ceo made the case for West and that is good. Pin him down and force him to walk the plank.
Love all your comments. thank you so much.
