Romney: “There’s a Good Shot” I Can Be In The White House
Los Angeles Times
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney seized on Wednesday’s news that the income of the average American family has declined to what it was in 1996 to argue that President Obama has proven himself unable to fix the nation’s economy.

“That is an indication of failure and the policies of this president have not worked,” Romney told a few dozen business leaders at an economic roundtable at a car dealership. “The economy was in trouble when he became president. Everything he did, almost without exception, made things worse. His policies have failed.”

Romney asked the gathered businessmen and women to share their concerns, which ranged from onerous regulations that created uncertainty, the rising cost of healthcare and the tax code. Romney reiterated his positions, arguing that regulatory relief, an overhaul of the tax code and a change in how consumers purchase health insurance were key to fixing the nation’s economy.

“We keep thinking a little stimulus will get things going. What’s wrong in America right now cannot be cured by a little cup of gasoline on the fire,” Romney said. “We need to fundamentally reshape the foundation of our economy and its relationship with government so businesses are once again and individuals are once again incentivized to invest in America.”

He predicted that Obama would be a one-term president, and said he would probably replace him.

“There’s a good shot I can be in the White House some day,” Romney said

Romney Won’t Use The Word Socialist
CNN
Romney used the interview Thursday to put some distance between himself and Texas Gov. Rick Perry when asked if he would use the word “socialist” to describe the Obama White House.

“Well, you know, words have a lot of unintended meanings and calling people socialists probably goes on the fact that it is true that President Obama’s team and the president himself seem to believe that government has a better approach to our economy than the private sector, and I disagree with that approach,” Romney said.

Romney continued, “I don’t use the word socialist, or I haven’t so far, but I do agree the president’s approach is government heavy, government intensive and not working.”

Wild Thing’s comment……
Yeowie, I would not say that. hahaha
What a difference, others call it like it is…….DeMint and Perry and others saying socialist, or socialism regarding Obamoa. But Mitt Romney just won’t do it. Sorry Mitt, we need leadership with a spine and you lost yours a long time ago.

mark says:

What we don’t need Mitt, is another RINO. Maybe the problem is alot of these candidates have believed the lie that we are indeed a democracy, and of course the majority makes the rules and calling obama a Socialist, may not put him in good stead with that bunch of Libs who would deny publically that they are socialists. In other words Mitt puts his finger to the wind to see which way the wind blows then makes his decision, and you don’t need a weatherman for that.

BobF says:

Romney just got Jimmy Carters endorsement too. Romney is to the MSM what McCain was back in 2007 and 2008 before Obama was nominated.

Sean says:

So much depends upon the RNC, RCC, and RSC, and how they choose to distribute the cash they collect.
Up to this point they are all playing coy and refusing to state whether they are leaning toward Romney,or Perry.
If past history, is any indicator, I have a strong feeling that they will wind up giving more support to the likes of Romney.
For this reason I feel that my contributions are better spent when I give directly to the Candidate of my choosing.

BobF says:

I agree Sean. I give directly to candidates.

TomR, armed in Texas says:

“I haven’t so far”. Wishy washy. No firmness. Romney is a Rino. I think deep down that he is a liberal on social issues. Yes, just like Bill Clinton, Romney’s finger spends a lot of time in the air testing wind direction. And yes, the GOP hierarchy will back him over Perry(or Palin).
My choice right now is Rick Perry. He has a few (speculative)blemishes but no serious drawbacks. My $$ will go straight to Perry’s campaign. No middle men.

Wild Thing says:

Sean, ditto that. I have not given to the GOP/ RNC oh gosh for years.
Like you said, supporting the actual candidate is better.
Thank you everyone so much.
