Hear it as the news broke on NBC, May 8th 1945:
NBC: VE Day Special Broadcast (13.8mb .MP3)
At midnight on May 8, 1945, the guns finally fell silent in Europe after more than five-and-a-half years of war, to bring to an end the second cataclysmic conflict to involve the nations of the Continent and their overseas allies in a period of less than a quarter of a century.
To all those brave men & women who served for our country we thank you.
I am two days late on this, I am so sorry. But these men and women are never forgotten!!!

World War II Victory in Europe Parade in Moscow on 65th Anniversary of Nazi Defeat
This is the Victory in Europe Parade held in Moscow, Russia to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the defeat of the Nazis in World War II:
This year’s parade is the largest commemoration since 1945, when Nazi Germany was defeated by the USSR and the Allies. For the first time ever, France, Britain and the U.S. have sent their own soldiers to parade past the Kremlin wall.
Chrissie – thank you for keeping the focus on the real issues and a place for us to remember what is really important to the foundations of this republic…
Jan, thank you. I had it marked on my calender and then I forgot to look on the 8th so I am late with this post.
Awesome..I guess we should be glad Obama doesn’t throw a parade, all them SEIU, Code Pink floats, and the Illegal Immigrant Marching bands would give me a headache…
yup 65 years ago it all ended, our fathers came home at least most of them did. It started the Boomer generation and as they say the rest is history.
Sorta like, “the old Corps, the New Corps and now this shit.” They have been called the greatest generation, I am not sure about that but they were as close as they could get.
