Saturday, Feb 6, would have marked President Reagan’s 99th birthday. And being that it was almost 30 years ago he was elected president.
The American Thinker
Ronald Reagan believed in American exceptionalism. Ronald Reagan believed in the American people who are the wellspring of that exceptionalism. Ronald Reagan unapologetically, unswervingly and unconditionally loved America.
In these troubled times there are so many reasons for pessimism. The current administration and their congressional allies have taken our nation down a dark path towards a future that we do not want. In spite of what the Main Stream Media and members of our own government have said, the America of Ronald Reagan is alive and well. We see it in the faces of our neighbors at town hall meetings and tea parties, we read about it in new media outlets like American Thinker, we hear it in the voice of conservative talk radio and we know it in our hearts.
Saturday, February 6th 2010 will be Ronald Reagan’s 99th birthday. As we begin the countdown to The Reagan Centennial let us pause to remember the strength, the courage, the integrity, the character, the warmth and the humor that made Ronald Reagan the quintessential American President.
Here are just a few favorite Ronald Reagan quotes, quips and memories:
Republicans believe every day is the 4th of July, but Democrats believe every day is April 15.
Politics is said to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
How do you tell a Communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.
We’ve done our part. And as I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the Reagan revolution, the men and women across America who for 8 years did the work that brought America back. My friends; We did it. We weren’t just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger, we made the city freer, and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all. (From Ronald Reagan’s farewell address, January 20th 1989.)

Wild Thing’s comment……..
While Obama is busy bowing and his Obama’s apology tours, and doing all he can to turn the greatest country on this earth into a socialist and communist country. We will never forget President Reagan.
“You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, “There is a price we will not pay.” “There is a point beyond which they must not advance.” And this—this is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater’s “peace through strength.” Winston Churchill said, “The destiny of man is not measured by material computations. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we’re spirits—not animals.” And he said, “There’s something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”
You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.
We’ll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we’ll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.”
“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs, which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell numbers….. And if there are those that cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.” Ronald Reagan.
We need Ronald Reagan again.
Nice tribute and memory to Pres. Reagan, Chrissie.
Thanks for posting. Our grassroots group here is having a birthday party for him tonight. I am not able to attend, but it sure sounded like fun.
I miss Ronald Reagan, and listening to him just now, makes it all the more apparent how great a president he really was.
He loved this country and honored the Service of all Americans and was not ashamed to admit it. He NEVER apologized for his country, because there was nothing to be sorry for.
Maybe someday there will be another Ronald Reagan. His greatness comes once in a lifetime.
Happy Birthday Mr. Reagan, you don’t have any idea how much this country misses and needs you.
I am pretty sure we will not have another Ronald Reagan in our lifetime. I fear we may not even have someone that will emulate him. Then again, maybe God will provide us another great leader in a dark hour.
We sure do need him and I too have my doubts that our country will ever have anyone else like him. I thank God I was around when he was President.
I was a fan of Ronnie Reagan from his earlist days. My mother was a big movie fan and hence my first name Ronald. Reagan was a rare person who looked at both sides of the political spectrum and then made his decision as which was right for him and for the nation. He is missed, very much. Thanks for the tribute Chrissie.
