The Washington Post says it is unlikely that the NFL will approve a sale to Rush Limbaugh due to his racist (and completely fabricated) statements.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said here Tuesday that it would be inappropriate for the owner of an NFL franchise to make the sort of controversial statements attributed in the past to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
“I’ve said many times before we’re all held to a high standard here, and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about,” Goodell said at an NFL owners’ meeting. “I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not.”
Limbaugh has acknowledged being part of a group bidding for the St. Louis Rams.
Goodell and several owners said Tuesday that the Rams’ sale process is in its early stages and the league is far from considering a potential bid by Limbaugh and Dave Checketts, the chairman of hockey’s St. Louis Blues.
But any proposed franchise sale would have to be approved by three-quarters of the owners, and Goodell’s comments signaled that it perhaps would be unlikely that Limbaugh’s bid would be ratified by the other teams.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said he would not vote in favor of approving Limbaugh as an owner.
“I would not be in favor of voting for him,” Irsay said. “I could ask Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Dwight Freeney and consult with them, but there have been comments that have been made that have been inappropriate, incendiary and insensitive. It’s bigger than football. We have to watch the words that we say…. Sometimes privileges in life do get lost. I would not feel comfortable.

I don’t listen to Rush or talk radio. This sounds interesting. I like Rush’s challenge to that group of people to document their charge. Jackson and Sharpton have gotten away with false accusations for years. That is how they make a living.

And it’s not just him-he’s part of a group who want to buy the Rams and keep them in St. Louis. I have no problem with that. For me, I don’t think Rush is a racist. I think he’s a realist-he says what he means and means what he says. That’s a midwestern thing. He’s got the money, why not? And if players and coaches walk? Guess what? There are plenty of other players and coaches who will do the job in a bathing suit and for far less money. They can be replaced.
But, if it were, let’s say, Jesse Jackson who wanted to buy the Rams, it’d be okay, even though he’s said things against white people and actually meant it. Why is it okay for blacks to be racist, but if whites say one thing they don’t like, we’re bad and racist?

This doesn’t look good. Goodell is a petit tyrant and Irsay has a lot of sway in the league. They are not going by the facts but by the lies put out there by some left wing charlatons, who cringe at the thought of Rush being part of the NFL. Owners like Jirry Jones and Al Davis would’nt have a problem but some others might. But…
On the bright side, Rush knows alot of the owners and I am sure they have talked about it amongst themselves and Rush is feeling pretty positive about this, so maybe he knows something more than he is letting on. He has been the guest of a lot of the owners at their home games and spent time in their private suites at the games. So maybe this is all hype to try to ginn up hatred for Rush by the left wing sports media. When Rush wants something he usually gets it.
The ownership of a team is a private business, they meet to decide rules and scheduling and other items of concern to the NFL, not who can or can not become an owner. So we will have to wait and see. Besides, money talks and BS walks. Sharpton has all the BS along with a few other malcontents.
Let me get this STRAIGHT… The NFL of today – the National Felony League – the idiots that paid millions of dollars to Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress and Pac Man Jones – are now RAPPING Majarushy and smearing our beloved Captain America about racist things that were NEVER SPOKEN? Go get ’em RU$H and did you notice on TV yesterday – ESPN particularly – that the smear campaign was… SILENT? Sucks to be ESPN, MSNBC, CNN and other slanderers, eh? The Blitz to be? A Libel lawsuit is extremely difficult to win a judgement, but it certainly would not be frivolous here. Is Mr. Limbaugh going to start one? (One can’t be done in his name, he would have to do it).
