Taps Played on the Horn With The Heart of a Child

This is truly beautiful coming from Melissa Venema, a 13 year-old Dutch trumpeter and playing with the Johann Straus Orchestra.

Excerpt from Andre Rieu’s concert during the World Stadium Tour in Amsterdam Arena, the Netherlands, on 28 June 2008.
Amazingly beautiful .. Melissa Venema, age 13, is the trumpet soloist.
Here is “Taps” played in its entirety.
The Original version of ‘Taps’ was called ‘Last Post’, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801.

Lynn says:

My daughter plays the trumpet, too! I remember a time when girls didn’t play the trumpet.
This little girl is really, really good.
I commend her on her God given talent.
Way to go Melissa!

TomR says:

The title of this song is Il Silenzo. It was written in 1965 by an Italian. It may be based on TAPS, I don’t know. It is a beautiful song. Miss Venema plays it perfectly.

Jack says:

Beautiful rendition, Melissa Venema is so talented.

Mark says:

Thats beautiful. She is going to be a great one. It’s been said, that a musician plays music but an artest feels the music. She feels everything she is playing.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, that is so wonderful about your
daughter. Your right, it was never that
popular for a girl to play a trumpet.

Wild Thing says:

Tom, yes she does.
I copied the information from the YouTube
site and I never knew that about Taps.

Wild Thing says:

Jack, yes she really has a natural talent.

Wild Thing says:

Mark, that is so true, it really is.
Even with singers, one can tell the ones
that are just singing a song well and those
that feel it and stand out from the others.
