Pres. Bush Stops To Thank Vets In Cleburne
Dallas/Fort Worth Local News
Former President George W. Bush made a surprise visit on a group of bicyclists raising money and awareness for injured soldiers Saturday.
Mr. Bush’s visit to the group, who had been resting for the night in Cleburne, was unannounced because he did not want publicity of the event to take away from what the riders were doing.
Cleburne’s Mayor Ted Reynolds and Congressman Chet Edwards had already been scheduled to address the riders before they set out for Arlington. Mr. Bush spoke with the riders on his way down to his Crawford area ranch.
The Wounded Warriors Road 2 Recovery bike ride went from San Antonio up to Arlington, where members of the ride were honored at the start of the Texas Rangers exhibition game Saturday afternoon.
The 60 bicycler riders were all veterans who were injured in Iraq or Afghanistan. They partnered with American Legion posts across Texas for the ride, which began in San Antonio on Tuesday.
President Bush thanked the riders for their service, as well as thanking volunteers and supporters who were helping in the ride.
Wild Thing’s comment…….
Just checking on President Bush to see how he is doing. It felt good to read about him again and he was having a great ole time iwith Veterans. I loved how he said he did not want to be noticed just wanted to stop and thank them that it was about them not him.
I agreed with little Bush did towards the end of his 2nd term but one thing he never waivered on was his love and respect for the troops.
Can he come back and throw the current ‘occupant’ out ???
