Speaking with XM Radio’s Bob Edwards on Tuesday, former President Jimmy Carter (you know, the guy who gave the “malaise” speech) told the radio host that he “would not want to have changed anything” during his presidency.
Well, okay, maybe one thing. Referring to the Iran hostage crisis, Carter said:
“I have a specific regret in not having one more helicopter when I wanted to rescue our hostages. If I had had one more helicopter, they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president.”
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Jimmah “one more copter” Carter regrets nothing. Well he is delusional that’s for sure. He should regret his entire life.
“they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president”
Oh really?? It sounds to me like Carter is more interested in that he could have been reelected then in the hostages.
Wasn’t Peanut Carter’s fellow Nobel Peace Prize recipient – PLO terrorist Yassar Arafat – delighted that the Ch-53 helicopter and C-130 Herculese exploded in the desert? One thing is certain – the Israeli Commandos and Mossad would have pulled it off!!!
Chris Matthews wrote the malaise speach. That tells you something.
Imagine. The bleating moron thinks one helicopter would rescue his putrid reputation and administration from the disgust it deserves.
Great picture, WT.
What so more good men would die in another helicopter directed from the office of Billy and Bungle?
Carter ordered the rescue effort by helicopter on April 25, 1980, but three of the eight helicopters failed before reaching Tehran, and the mission had to be aborted. Eight men died in the operation. These men gave their lives trying to free good men and women. They did not die in vain:
Three of these men were United States Marines: Sgt. John D. Harvey, 21; Cpl. George N. Holmes, 22; SSgt. Dewey L. Johnson, 31, all who died in or trying to escape their RH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter, 5 of them were members of the United States Air Force, Maj. Richard F. Bakke, 33; Maj. Harold L. Lewis, 35; TSgt. Joel C. Mayo, 34; Capt. Lyn D. McIntosh, 33; and Capt. Charles T. McMillan, 28, who died in the cockpit of their C-130 Hercules transport.
Jimmah was never chastised by the media, if Reagan or Bush had bungled an operation this badly there would have been calls for impeachment.
Jimmah should have been aborted, instead he gets the Nobel Peace Prize for his ignobility.
Jimmy Carter is the definition of SNAFU. It was so sad that he was President during our Bicentennial. It was so sad that he was president at all. Besides the malaise factor, he also gave us the “misery factor” which blew up in his face. So many of our politicians are pure Socialists, but James Earl Carter is a pure Communist. To me he is the Father of America bashing and the uncle of islamic revolution.
I can’t think of anything else nice to say about that slimy basatrd!
When Jimmy Carter turned his back on our staunchest ally and friend in the Middle East, the Shaw of Iran, he showed the Arabs that the US can’t be trusted.
Bwahahaha! I’ve read plenty about that operation. One more helicopter was not going to save it. Or ten. Or a hundred. The uniforms did the best they could, but the WH/Pentagon leadership and planning was a botch from the get-go. They had no intel on where the hostages actually were, and had they actually made it to Tehran, they had no plan for how they were actually going to find anyone. Presumably, they were going to run around and knock on doors and ask everyone if they had seen any hostages in the neighborhood lately.
People ask me why I never enlisted. Answer: I turned 18 about a year before this. Had I signed up, my bones would probably be bleaching in the sun at Desert One now.
Yeah the idea that one helicopter would have saved the mission is a pipe dream. He had the whole 6th fleet in the Med. that shouldn’t have been a problem.
The problem was a lack of spine in the White House.
From what I remember, it wasn’t a large force going in, which didn’t make any sense. To call it off when you get that close is pure non-sense. So the men lost, were sacrificed for a whim of Jimmy Carter. He should have been drummed out of Office.
Holy Cow, WT! I was on your blog and all of a sudden my airways (bronchi) began to constrict, making breathing difficult. My blood pressure almost dropped to life-threateningly low levels, making me feel dizzy or about to lose consciousness. Other serious signs and symptoms I had were wheezing, weak pulse, blueness of my skin, including my lips and nail beds, nausea and vomiting.
I then realized I was in anaphylactic shock, induced by reading about Jimmy “Peanut” Carter.
I recovered quickly after avoiding anything relating to Peanuts. Whew! Warn a guy!
Darth….”the Israeli Commandos and Mossad would have pulled it off!!!”….I agree.
Rhod, thank you. I didn’t know Chris Matthews had written that speech. No wonder, they are a pair he and Carter. augh
Jack, I am very hard about this with these traitors. I wish we could vote on bringing back execution for anyone including Presidents or anyone does the kind of thing we have been experiencing from Carter etc.. I know it will never happen but it should.
Thank you for the names Jack.
Tom yes I agree, he is a disgrace.
Bob, yes and he is to blame for that too.
Cousin Dave we lost a lot of good men.
Mark I agree, and no one even brought up kicking him out and they should have.
Steve, LOL, he does make a person ill to look at and read about.
hahahaha
I don’t know how old all y’all are, but I got married in the last year of the Carter administration, and that was the only good thing that happened in the USA the entire four years (except Reagan’s election, of course).
I don’t understand why so many conservatives have called Carter a “good man”. He isn’t. But what’s really sad about this so-called Christian is that he doesn’t regret the deaths his antics caused. He should be thinking about the people who died in the copters that crashed. He should have been thinking about what the rest of us had to go through under his tender mercies, as well.
Don’t even get me started on what he did to his family. What a nightmare.
HI Trish good to see you. I know what you mean about the only thing good happening during those years.
I don’t get it either, I can’t believe a person is a real conservative if they like Carter. They is just no way.
Have a great day and thanks again for stopping by.
