Fairness Doctrine Hammered

Fairness Doctrine hammered 309-115
The Hill
The House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from using taxpayer dollars to impose the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters who feature conservative radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
By a vote of 309-115, lawmakers amended the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill to bar the FCC from requiring broadcasters to balance conservative content with liberal programming such as Air America.

At the end of Thursday’s debate, Democratic House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (Wis.) agreed with Republicans that the government should not regulate conservative radio hosts such as Limbaugh and Hannity……“We ought to let right-wing talk radio go on as they do now,” he said. “Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton…….”

Talk Radio and the Fairness Doctrine

Wild Thing’s comment……..
LOL I thought this was so funny how they put this together and thought you all might get a kick out of it. Turn up the volume.
Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton, . . .
What role did Paris play in today’s Senate Cloture vote? LOL

Fairness Doctrine Hammered

Lynn says:

The Fairness Doctrine sounds like Socialism to me.
I want everyone to have a fair shake and I can’t help it if the liberals have a tough time on the radio.
That’s not the conservatives fault.
Freedom of speech, baby–don’t forget it, congress.
I like Sean, Rush, Michael Reagan, et cetera.
They just seem happier to listen to.

darthcrUSAderworldtour07 says:

Does the ‘Unfair Doctrine’ apply to the liberal bias on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, and the New York Times, LA Times, USA Today and Washington Post? Or to 60 Minutes, the E-Channel, M-TV and BET? … Didn’t think so! The 1st Amendment applies to conservatives as well!

TomR says:

Another battle we won. We have had our freedom of speech chipped away at, now the tide has turned. It also looks like McCain-Fiengold is a sunk ship. The Bill of Rights lives!

Mark says:

It is the only venue of free speech we have left. If we lose ‘Talk-Radio’ we are in deep trouble.
That’s a good point Lynn, Conservatives are positive and upbeat, every time I see a lib they look depressed and all out of sorts. Like they have a bad gas problem that just won’t go away.
When I watch Fox, And even before they introduce the guests, I can tell immediately who the conservatives are and who the libs are. The Libs are the one with the dour faces and everything in their life is just awful and ‘they’ must do something about it. Only trouble is when they think like that, we the conservatives have to give something up in order for them to feel better.
I would rather they keep feeling poorly, at least that way they are the only ones who are miserable.

BobF says:

Comparing Rush and Sean with Paris Hilton is a slam at Rush and Sean.
Lynn & Mark, actually research by the Pew Research Center has found that Conservatives are more happier than Liberals.
A survey by the Pew Research Center shows that conservatives are happier than liberals — in all income groups. While 34 percent of all Americans call themselves “very happy,” only 28 percent of liberal Democrats (and 31 percent of moderate or conservative Democrats) do, compared with 47 percent of conservative Republicans. This finding is niftily self-reinforcing: It depresses liberals.

When the Democrats took control of Congress last year, Conservatives were angry but not depressed. We looked at it as a challenge for the future. But, when Bush won the White House in 2004, many Liberals got depressed and had to seek counseling. Some even left the country.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, yes it sure is socialism and dictatorship.
The really odd thing is that the left has tried talk radio and they never have received the following that the Conservative talk radio has over the years.

Wild Thing says:

Darth I agree good point too!!

Wild Thing says:

Tom yesss and yippe.
Those complaining about how big conservative talk radio is don’t even look at why. Or that they tried it and failed.

Wild Thing says:

Mark I agree, if they mess with talk radio it will be the end of our freedom of speech.
Nick and I do the same thing you said with the TV talk shows. We see who is coming on and know ahead of time. Nick will say well there are three of them and one for our side. haha Things like that.

Wild Thing says:

Bob thank you for the link.
I agree we are happier then the left. Just in our own family is a perfect example. My husbands brother is a socialist to the max and he is grouchy all the time, gets angry red faced hate in his eyes in a seconds notice on almost anything. hahaahha

raz0r says:

Just tell the libs they have to apply the Fairness Doctrine to NPR, PBS, and anything else that gets a piece of my tax dollars first before they go after commercial broadcasts. That’ll shut ’em up.

raz0r says:

Colmes just agreed with conservatives for all the right reasons. Wow! I am stunned.

raz0r says:

Oops. That had to do with one of the videos that came up as related to the one you had Chrissie.

Tincan Sailor says:

Well one thing for sure let them pass the equal
time law,if you don’t have a product that will sell time your toast.Air America proved that.
Soros put millions in it and it still went in
the can…Some say its their message of hate and
fear, wrong.Michael Savage is a bomb throwing hate
monger but he is still on the air…The right just has a better message and lays it out better.
For my self its Dennis Miller.Laura Ingram and
Bill O’reilly the rest to much yada- yada Oh a
little of Bill Bennett and once in a while
Ann Coulter…

Wild Thing says:

razOr that sure will. hahhaha

Wild Thing says:

razOr oh thanks. heh heh.. ((hug))

Wild Thing says:

Tincan Sailor yes they do have a better message and it is presented with a lot less hate then the left.
