Mexicans tell Bush “Go to hell”

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City was the latest scene where hundreds of demonstrators gathered around on Tuesday to protest the visit of U.S. President George W. Bush, and ended up attacking the riot police with concrete blocks, metal bars and tearing down barricades.
Mexican police responded with tear gas, pepper spray, and baton charges, throwing back rocks and clubbing demonstrators down. Several protesters were arrested or injured, one with blood pouring from his head.

The demonstrators burned U.S. flags and waved banners with slogans against the U.S. president such as, “Bush you are not welcome in Mexico. Go to Hell.”

The vast majority of Mexicans oppose the war in Iraq and many also blame Bush for tough anti-immigration policies.

“We are in disagreement with the war policy,” of Bush, said craftswoman Guadalupe Fernandez, 64, who was marching but not involved in the violence.

A group of about 30 masked protesters clad in black led the attack on the thick lines of riot police defending the U.S. Embassy.
When police fired tear gas and charged, the protesters scattered in all directions.
Lorenzo Fernandez, the commanding officer at the scene, said the police were only defending themselves.

“These are people who don’t know how to demonstrate pacifically,” Fernandez said.

In Merida, a southeastern city where Bush is meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, about 100 protesters marched to his hotel for the second night in a row carrying Mexican flags and calling the U.S. president a “murderer.”
Bush was having dinner with Calderon away from his hotel.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
“Bush you are not welcome in Mexico. Go to Hell.”
To which he should have replied, “What are you talking about? I’m already here.”
“and many also blame Bush for tough anti-immigration policies”
Our response should be….illegal mexicans, go to hell, your not welcome in America!!!!
These are the people that want us to open our borders and let them come take whatever they want. Great way to act towards a host. I wish them ill, but keep it there.

Lynn says:

I don’t get it–he’s done more for them and they tell him to go to Hell?
You’re right–he should take that into consideration when redoing the immigration policy and close the border down tight. No more in–everyone else out.
They’re just mad because he won’t give something we paid them for (I believe it was something like 65 million dollars)after we fairly won it in the Mexican-American War and Santa Ana signed it all away to Sam Houston so they wouldn’t kill him. (we wouldn’t have anyway, but he fell for it hook, line and sinker).
Pouty little brats. Too bad. Learn to live with it. You can’t have it your way ALL the time.
We all had to learn to work and live together, why do you want segregation? Work with us, not against us. It’s really simple.
We love all mankind, no matter where you’re from or by what name you call God. Skin colors mean nothing to us. You might think that and you would be wrong. We just don’t like stinky attitudes.

Nick Byram says:

I wish Bush and company would learn an important lesson here: “They’re only going to hate you anyway…”
He bent over – forwards – and metaphorically took it up the rear to placate Mexico, part of a broader “Hispandering” campaign suggested to him by Karl Rove, and they only hate him anyway. Meanwhile, those of us who loyally supported Bush are banging our heads against the proverbial wall in frustration.
He approved the spending of more money on AIDS research than all previous administrations combined, betraying those of us who wanted the corporate welfare nanny state to shrink, and he only gets vilified by the AIDS activists anyway. Why? Because they aren’t “lavender” as much as they are Reds and Pinkoes, that’s why.
I actually deal with ostensibly “conservative” Republicans, day in and day out, who tell me, “Well, I’d like to support or oppose policy X, but if I do so, then interest group Y will hate me and call me (blank)-ist and/or (blank)-ophobic…”
To which I can only reply, “Don’t you get it? They’re only going to hate you and call you that anyway….”

TomR says:

Nick hit it on the nose. Whatever America does for Mexico will not be appreciated there. If it is monetary help, it will be fed into the corruption machine and never be used as designated. I don’t want to buy faux respect. But, Bush will be throwing our earned tax money away in Latin America like a drunken sailor. Only Bush will get a warm feeling from this.
Mexico is a Third(Turd) World country because of their culture. Over population, underdevelopment and corruption are their primary problems. They have ample natural resources to be prosperous.

Jack says:

Well stated Nick. Lets not forget who Mexico has sided with in two world wars, I’ve said it before. Mexico is not our friend. They will take as long as we will give but ask for anything in return and you get just the response witnessed by the President.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, your right, with all the things Bush has done for them and they treat him like dirt. They should be kissing his hand.

Wild Thing says:

Nick AMEN exaxtly what you said.
