Holocaust-Style Badges ~ New Law In Iran

Wild Thing’s comment……..
I am going to post the various articles on this below. There is some question as to this being true or not. I tend to believe it because of the hate for the People of the Book by Islamists. But this is for all of us I suppose to see what is true in fact by the actions taken in Iran. If it IS true we need to come down hard on this asap and not wait till another holocaust to ever happen again.
I do not take things like this lightly, threats and this kind of thing never should be. Perhaps they are doing this to anger Israel and our country to jump the gun so to speak making Iran a victim of our attack. I have no idea, but either way, it is a wait and see for sure.

Iran may force badges on Jews, Christians
TEHRAN, May 19 (UPI) — Iran’s parliament passed a new law this week that would force the country’s Jews, Christians and other religious minorities to wear color-coded ID badges.
Iranian expatriates confirmed reports the Iranian parliament, or majlis, has approved a law that would require non-Muslims to adhere to a dress code which mandates they wear “standard Islamic garments,” according to Canada’s National Post.
The roughly 25,000 Jews living in the Islamic Republic would have to attach a yellow strip of cloth to their clothing, Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would wear blue ones.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader and highest authority, must approve the law for it to take effect.
“This is reminiscent of the Holocaust,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, head of the Simon Weisenthal Center in Los Angeles. “Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis.”
The Weisenthal Center has written to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to call on the international community to pressure Iran into abandoning the measure.
“There’s no reason to believe they won’t pass this,” Hier told the Post. “It will certainly pass unless there’s some sort of international outcry over this.”
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejan has publicly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.” The West believes Tehran is secretly and illegally using its nuclear energy program to develop a weapon, a claim Iran denies.

Majlis passes bill setting out new dress requirement
Iran-Fashion-Majlis bill
Majlis deputies here on Sunday approved the outlines of a bill setting out a dress code suitable for Iranian culture and society and a national fashion trend.
When the bill is passed into law, a committee composed of representatives from the ministries of culture, commerce and industries as well as the Management and Plan Organization, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and Majlis Cultural Commission is to be created.
The culture ministry and IRIB will have the primary responsbility of promoting the required dress or clothing design as confirmed by the committee and prevent Western-style fashion that are against Islamic teachings.
After the law is passed, the culture ministry, with the help of the ministry of commerce, will hold national, regional and international festivals and exhibitions to promote cultural exchanges, including Islamic fashion, among Muslim nations.
Seasonal fairs will be held by the commerce ministry to introduce as well as promote sales of Islamic dresses and garments to the public.
The national dress plan was approved in Majlis by 137 votes in favor, 45 against, and 11 abstentions.

Iran report of Holocaust-style badges questioned
The National Post is sending shockwaves across the country this morning with a report that Iran’s Parliament has passed a law requiring mandatory Holocaust style badges to identify Jews and Christians.
But independent reporter Meir Javedanfar, an Israeli Middle East expert who was born and raised in Tehran, says the report is false.
“It’s absolutely factually incorrect,” he told The New 940 Montreal.
“Nowhere in the law is there any talk of Jews and Christians having to wear different colours. I’ve checked it with sources both inside Iran and outside.”
“The Iranian people would never stand for it. The Iranian government wouldn’t be stupid enough to do it.”
Political commentator and 940 Montreal host Beryl Waysman says the report is true, that the law was passed two years ago.
“Jews should wear yellow strips, Christians red strips, because according to the Iranian mullahs, if a Mulsim shakes hands with a non-Muslim he becomes unclean.”

Iran eyes badges for Jews
(Part of long article)
This is reminiscent of the Holocaust,” said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. “Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis.”
Iran’s roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.
“There’s no reason to believe they won’t pass this,” said Rabbi Hier. “It will certainly pass unless there’s some sort of international outcry over this.”
Bernie Farber, the chief executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress, said he was “stunned” by the measure. “We thought this had gone the way of the dodo bird, but clearly in Iran everything old and bad is new again,” he said. “It’s state-sponsored religious discrimination.”
The new law was drafted two years ago, but was stuck in the Iranian parliament until recently when it was revived at the behest of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Update to this post:

From Captain Ed at Captain’s Quarters:….Thank you Captain Ed

“In an interesting twist, Canada.com has pulled the original story, although Amir Taheri’s article is stil available. If true, this will send shock waves around the world — and if not, Canada’s National Post may never live down the damage.”
UPDATE: The National Post appears to be backtracking more intently, if not furiously, this evening:
Several experts are casting doubt on reports that Iran had passed a law requiring the country’s Jews and other religious minorities to wear coloured badges identifying them as non-Muslims.
The Iranian embassy in Otttawa also denied the Iranian government had passed such a law. …
The Simon Wiesenthal Centre and Iranian expatriates living in Canada had confirmed that the order had been passed, although it still had to be approved by Iran’s “Supreme Guide” Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect.
Hormoz Ghahremani, a spokesman for the Iranian Embassy in Ottawa, said in an e-mail to the Post yesterday that, “We wish to categorically reject the news item.
“These kinds of slanderous accusations are part of a smear campaign against Iran by vested interests, which needs to be denounced at every step.”
Sam Kermanian, of the U.S.-based Iranian-American Jewish Federation, said in an interview from Los Angeles that he had contacted members of the Jewish community in Iran — including the lone Jewish member of the Iranian parliament — and they denied any such measure was in place.
It’s not the National Post’s finest moment, it seems …

The11Ave says:

I am an Iranian living in Canada and not a fan of Iranian government. But this post simply is not true.
All they want to acheive with this new legislation is to fight with women who do not give a damn to cover their hair and body in public so that Islamic rules will be respected and has nothing to do with a badge or something like that. It’s true that the Iranian government does not like jews and people with different religions and even different flavors of Islam, but they have not passed this legislation for this purpose.

the11ave says:

By the way, this is the original story link which is in Farsi.
You are way off of it. (Grab someone who knows farsi so that you can see what it is all about)

Wild Thing says:

The11Ave, I went to your website but I can’t read any of it as it is not in English.
As far as this story being true I have done a very fair reporting of it showing several articles written.
In my own comments at the top you can also see where I state I am not sure it is true and then I proceed to say I hope it is not but if it is…………….
It is good you are not a “not a fan of Iranian government”. There are many in Iran that are not as well. Unfortunately there are also many that are.

Rhod says:

This story is still taking shape, and the idea is not new. In the 11th century, “The Laws of Islamic Governance” by Shafi’i Jursit Al-Mawardi stated that Islamic countries are to require dhimmis to wear identifiable clothing. The policy was abandoned in the 19th century, but the practice isn’t unknown.
The11AVE:
Not being a “fan” of the Iranian government is either your way of being vague, or your way with Western slang. I don’t know which it is.
But, you seem to have no objection to an Islamic State requiring dress codes for some its citizens, all of them women. You add that it’s true the Iranian government “doesn’t like Jews”, “different religions” and “different flavors of Islam”. True.
You apparently have no objection to dress codes imposed upon women by The State, and The State’s official displeasure with groups it “doesn’t like”. There is little reason to believe that these ideas can’t come together and create codes which require badges too. What’s to prevent it? The good nature of Ahmadinejad?
Do you think Canadian women dress properly? Should the Canadian government do something about it?

Sierrahome says:

That’s just stupid…marking Jews and Christians because women won’t “cover themselves”. I’d believe that but a little thing like the truth of 9/11 stands in the way.

billy says:

The11Ave,
You have no point. So STFU,… and enjoy your stay in Canada.
Billy
P.S.
Make sure you wear an Iranian/Canadian arm band when you come to this country to debate your pointless comments.
Thanks….Allahu Fubar..Allahu Fubar…Allahu Fubar……!!!!
Sorry, I guess it was the “All I they want to achieve”, comment that pissed me off, Scumbag.
P.S.S.
If the Iranian government really wants to pick a fight with “women who refuse to cover their hair”, have them contact me at their earliest convenience…. I think there is a reality TV show in there somewhere….. Allahu Fubar..Allahu Fubar..Allahu Fubar
Oh and,….Heil Ahmadinejad.
Wake up shmuck.

Wild Thing says:

Rhod thank you for the information on “The Laws of Islamic Governance”. What a bunch of stupid laws they had and want and still have. ugh!

Wild Thing says:

Sierrahome exactly and all the other murders by Islam they have done. the11ave is just another Muslim wanting to have a pity party.

Wild Thing says:

Billy ditto!!
OH and by the way, I forgot to tell you. I linked to your blog. It is listed in my Sidebar under Blogs the impress me.

Jack says:

They’re living in the 21st century and their head is still up the ass of http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/pact-umar.html ” Umar ibn al-Khattab’s 7th century edict known as the Pact of Omar where he laid our the conditions of Dhimma.

Wild Thing says:

I agree Jack and thank you for the link and information.

TomR says:

This could be another error from the news media. Not unusual, except, if it is an erroneous story, the error is being highlited.
However, because of the extremes and hatred and abuses of islam, this news story is easily believable.

Wild Thing says:

Tom I agree it is very easily beliveable considering what we know and have proof of. Time will tell if they actually do this stupid horrible thing.

bernie says:

Here is the link to the farsi stroy in English

Iran also denies being interested in nuclear weapons and also denies the holocaust. They are just a bunch of whiny denyers.
If they admitted they wanted to have jews wear badges I would have disbelieved them.

Wild Thing says:

Bernie, Iran is a lot of things, they better pray to their cult leader Allah the moon god for mercy if they tick us off enough.
Thank you for the link.

Oh, the Iranian government has denied the truth of this story, so it must be false.
After all, we believe them when they claim that they are not trying to make an atomic bomb don’t we? They never lie!
This may be the one time where the CBS journalism standard of “fake but accurate” so evident with the Bush National Guard forgeries might apply.
Whether the details of this particular story are true, one fact is irrefutable: Iran is hell bent on a course of action similar to that undertaken by the Nazis in the 30’s.
And once again, we have the opportunity to snuff out this evil before it has the chance to kill another 60 million people.
If only we act in time.

Wild Thing says:

Great comment Mike, I pray we do act in time!!
Thank you for your comment.
