Obama — whose father, stepfather, brother and grandfather were Muslims — explained his own first name, Barack, in “Dreams”: “It means ‘Blessed.’ In Arabic. My grandfather was a Muslim.”
Obama’s grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, for whom the senator was given his middle name, Hussein, was fiercely devoted to Islam, according to an account in “Dreams.
Later in life, however, he was drawn to the writings of an influential American Muslim who served as the spokesman for the militant Nation of Islam.
“Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different,” Obama wrote. “His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me; the blunt poetry of his words, his unadorned insistence on respect, promised a new and uncompromising order, martial in its discipline, forged through sheer force of will.”
Obama’s family connections to Islam would endure, however. For example, his brother Roy opted for Islam over Christianity, as Obama recounted when describing his 1992 wedding.
“The person who made me proudest of all,” Obama wrote, “was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam, and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”
Obama calls the Iraq war “a botched and ill-advised U.S. military incursion into a Muslim country.” He is also protective of civil rights for Muslims in the U.S.
“In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans … have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging,” he laments. “I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
After graduating from college, Obama eventually went to Chicago to interview for a job as a community organizer. His racial attitudes came into play as he sized up the man who would become his boss.
“There was something about him that made me wary,” Obama wrote. “A little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”

In all honesty I truly don’t understand how a man like this gets elected in my wonderful America. Not only his run for President but also his being a Senator. We can add into this Keith Ellison and the other Muslims that have been elected to government offices as well.
His anger of whites runs deep. It is not going to disappear just because he might take the oath as President.
Is Barack Hussein Obama a Muslim? Will he one day return to his Muslim upbringing? His core of who he is was established in the cult of Islam not in the Christian church or any other NON Muslim faith. How often have we heard as I got older I returned to the faith or belief I had as a child. And Obama did not become a Christian till he was in his 20’s.
Islam is a strong pull to low self esteem people like Obama with his hang up about not being all white or all black. It matters NOT to me what skin color a person is but from all of Obama’s writings it is predominate in his thinking and outlook. It teaches hate of non Muslims, hate for Jews and Christians the people of the Book as they call the Bible. Hate has been known as a driving force to low self esteem individuals to give them a sense of belonging. I would bet that is why joining up with Islam is so popular in prisons.
Islam is not just a faith or a religion, it is a cult and all encompassing. It is a LAW and a law above any law of the land a person dwells within. People are executed that leave Islam, children are murdered that date non Muslims or try to marry a non Muslim. I will end my comment with a story that just happened recently. My prayer is that we do not see this Obama elected.

For Abdel-Qader Ali there is only one regret: that he did not kill his daughter at birth. ‘If I had realised then what she would become, I would have killed her the instant her mother delivered her,’ he said with no trace of remorse.
Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, murdered because of her infatuation with a British solider in Basra, southern Iraq, her father is defiant. Sitting in the front garden of his well-kept home in the city’s Al-Fursi district, he remains a free man, despite having stamped on, suffocated and then stabbed his student daughter to death.
Abdel-Qader, 46, a government employee, was initially arrested but released after two hours. Astonishingly, he said, police congratulated him on what he had done. ‘They are men and know what honour is,’ he said.
Rand, who was studying English at Basra University, was deemed to have brought shame on her family after becoming infatuated with a British soldier, 22, known only as Paul.
She died on 16 March after her father discovered she had been seen in public talking to Paul, considered to be the enemy, the invader and a Christian. Though her horrified mother, Leila Hussein, called Rand’s two brothers, Hassan, 23, and Haydar, 21, to restrain Abdel-Qader as he choked her with his foot on her throat, they joined in. Her shrouded corpse was then tossed into a makeshift grave without ceremony as her uncles spat on it in disgust.
‘Death was the least she deserved,’ said Abdel-Qader. ‘I don’t regret it. I had the support of all my friends who are fathers, like me, and know what she did was unacceptable to any Muslim that honours his religion,’ he said.

presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he
doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171,
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present
except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag
with the right hand over the heart.
‘As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking
sides,’ Obama said. ‘There are a lot of people in the world to whom the
American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a
war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all.
It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose.
I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem,
then I might salute it.’

He said, “”I hope I said 100,000 people the first time instead of 100 million. I understand I said there were 57 states today. It’s a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh.” At that point, an aide cut him off and ushered journalists out. Before he could mis-speak again?)
Oh, and as far as Hawaii voters are concerned, they’re probably delighted to learn that Obama’s campaign staff doesn’t think that tiny state can justify an appearance by his eminence, even though he did a lot of growing up there. Or maybe because he was there.

Barack Obama sacks adviser over talks with Hamas

One of Barack Obama’s Middle East policy advisers disclosed yesterday that he had held meetings with the militant Palestinian group Hamas – prompting the likely Democratic nominee to sever all links with him.
Robert Malley told The Times that he had been in regular contact with Hamas, which controls Gaza and is listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organisation. Such talks, he stressed, were related to his work for a conflict resolution think-tank and had no connection with his position on Mr Obama’s Middle East advisory council.
“I’ve never hidden the fact that in my job with the International Crisis Group I meet all kinds of people,” he added.
Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for Mr Obama, responded swiftly: “Rob Malley has, like hundreds of other experts, provided informal advice to the campaign in the past. He has no formal role in the campaign and he will not play any role in the future.” The rapid departure of Mr Malley followed 48 hours of heated clashes between John McCain, the Republican nominee-elect, and Mr Obama over Middle East policy.

Al Qeada in Iraq leader not captured – U.S. military
BAGHDAD, May 9 (Reuters) – A man seized by Iraqi forces in the northern city of Mosul is not Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, a senior U.S. military official said on Friday.
“He has not been detained,” the official told Reuters, without giving further details. Several Iraqi officials had earlier said Masri had been captured in an operation late on Wednesday

Iraqi security forces have detained a man suspected of being the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq after a captured associate led them to him sleeping in a house in the northern city of Mosul, Iraqi officials said on Friday May 9,2008).
The U.S. military in Baghdad said it was checking the reports that Abu Ayyab al-Masri, an Egyptian also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, had been detained.
If confirmed, the arrest would be another blow for Sunni Islamist al Qaeda in Iraq, which has reeled under a wave of U.S. military operations in the past year and been forced to regroup in northern Iraq.
An Interior Ministry spokesman said an associate of Masri detained in an earlier operation took security forces late on Wednesday to where the al Qaeda leader was hiding.
After being detained, Masri confessed to being the al Qaeda in Iraq leader, he said, adding that his identity still had to be confirmed. Other Iraqi security officials said the suspect was in American custody for identification.
Al Qaeda in Iraq was headed by the Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi until he was killed in a U.S. air strike in June 2006. His successor, Masri, was Zarqawi’s close associate, and has a U.S. bounty of $5 million (2.6 million pounds) on his head.
Duraid Kashmula, the governor of Nineveh province, of which Mosul is the capital, also said the detained man had confessed to being Masri.

“When police entered the house, they found him asleep,” Kashmula said, adding the suspect was alone.

“These is no doubt that the person arrested is Masri. The operation was very quick and easy. There were no clashes.”

U.S. officials blame al Qaeda in Iraq for most big bombings in the country, including an attack on a revered Shi’ite shrine in Samarra in February 2006 that sparked a wave of sectarian carnage that nearly tipped Iraq into all-out civil war.
But a build-up of U.S. troops last year allowed the military to focus a series of offensives against the group. The emergence of Sunni Arab tribal security units also helped to provide intelligence on al Qaeda activities.
URBAN STRONGHOLD
The result was that al Qaeda has largely been pushed out of Baghdad and its former stronghold in the western Anbar province to areas in northern Iraq, such as Mosul.
American generals say Mosul is al Qaeda in Iraq’s last remaining urban stronghold in the country.
But U.S. commanders warn that the group, while significantly weakened, can still carry out large-scale attacks.

Iraq’s Interior Ministry said last May that Masri had been killed, but soon afterwards al Qaeda released an audio tape purportedly from him.

And in an hour-long audio tape issued last month also said to be from him, Masri called for renewed attacks on American troops and lashed out at U.S. President George Bush.
He urged militants from the Sunni Islamist group to “celebrate” the recent announcement that the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq had passed 4,000.

“We must celebrate this event in our special way, and make the defeated Bush join us in this celebration,” he said.

He called on al Qaeda fighters to provide “a head of an American as a present to the trickster Bush” in a month-long campaign that he called the “Attack of Righteousness”.

Al Qaeda in Iraq shares a name and ideology if not organisational ties with Osama bin Laden’s network, which was blamed for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.
The U.S. military says al Qaeda in Iraq is largely foreign led but that its foot soldiers are mainly Iraqis.

Leaders among cities of Arabs enjoying Israeli citizenship have systematically rejected celebrations of the State of Israel’s 60th anniversary, with only one community agreeing to take part in recognition of Israel’s special day. Arabs refer to the creation of the Jewish state in 1948 as the “nakba” – catastrophe.

Israeli Public Security Minister Avi Dichter called on Arabs to reconsider, saying that they will celebrate Israel’s 70th and 80th anniversaries. He also told a crowd in Shfaram – the only town of Arabs with Israeli citizenship that will participate in the festivities – that “whoever speaks for 60 years about the ‘catastrophe’ befalling them will suffer a real catastrophe in the end.”

Israel will celebrate in style with laser shows, parades, other extravagant events. New bike paths, as well as 60 playgrounds, picnic sites to open in honor of country’s Independence Day.
