Let’s Be Personal (circa 1973) by Gordon Sinclair

Canadian journalist Gordon Sinclair and his view on Americans. This speech was published on June 5, 1973.

“LET’S BE PERSONAL” Broadcast June 5, 1973 CFRB, Toronto, Ontario
Topic: “The Americans”
source
The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the world.
As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Well, Who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did, that’s who.
They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Mississippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. And I was there. I saw that.
When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help… Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped.
The Marshall Plan… the Truman Policy… all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. And now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans.
I’d like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes.
Come on… let’s hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 10? If so, why don’t they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or a woman on the moon?
You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times … and safely home again. You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are right here on our streets in Toronto, most of them… unless they are breaking Canadian laws… are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here.
When the Americans get out of this bind… as they will… who could blame them if they said ‘the hell with the rest of the world’. Let someone else buy the bonds, let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won’t shake apart in earthquakes.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both of them are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble.
Can you name to me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don’t think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.
Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their noses at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles.
I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke.
This year’s disasters… with the year less than half-over… has taken it all and nobody… but nobody… has helped.

Wild Thing’s comment……………
What’s really amazing is how similar everything is today (in Canada, the U.S. and the rest of the World) as it relates to where the U.S. is and how it is viewed both inside and outside the U.S.
Deja vu all over again..

McCain/Palin Rally in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

A group of well wishers cheered outside the Fed Ex cargo terminal, as McCain’s bus headed away from the airport and through Bethlehem, before stopping at the lighting company Lutron in Upper Saucon Township.
Republican John McCain’s Straight Talk Express tour bus rolled into Stabler Arena to the theme from “Rocky” this afternoon and a thunderous cheer from the assembled capacity crowd.
McCain fans roared when his wife Cindy asked how her husband did at last night’s debate.
And it sent up raucous cheers of Sarah! Sarah! as Cindy McCain introduced McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin said the debate provided voters with a clear choice between two vastly different world views.

“Last night Sen. McCain talked about real pragmatic solutions and Barack Obama talked about why he would rather run against George Bush. That strategy is starting to run pretty darn thin,” Palin said.

McCain then took the stage, to chants of “John McCain, John McCain,” starting his remarks by focusing on the economy and his new plan to help homeowners struggling with onerous mortgages.
Under the newly-announced McCain plan, called the American Homeownership Resurgence Plan, the government would help homeowners refinance into more manageable payments in order to avoid foreclosures.

“As president, I plan to act quickly and decisively so you can realize the American Dream,” McCain said.

Earlier, McCain and Palin’s planes arrived within minutes of each other at Lehigh Valley International Airport.
Palin disembarked first, crossing the tarmac to greet McCain as he exited his “Straight Talk Express” jet.

Palin, carrying a tote that read “Real Women Hunt Moose,” McCain, and his wife, Cindy, greeted a small group of local dignitaries before boarding a bus to Lehigh University’s Stabler Arena.
This morning, thousands of people lined up to wait to see the Republican presidential ticket at Stabler Arena at Lehigh University.
Andrew Allen of Springfield Township and Len Ramirez of Quakertown got to Stabler at 7:30 a.m. They were among the first 50 people or so standing near the front door of the arena.
Allen retired from the Marines last year, he supports McCain’s platform on the Iraq War.

“I don’t want another 9-11 to happen,” he said. “When you go to war you go to win.”

Ramirez in in favor of McCain’s plan for the economy, especially his plan to buy back bad mortgages.
Both men have tickets for today’s event, but arrived early to get good seats.
Four people were already inside at about 11 a.m., among them was volunteer Harry Singh, 70, of Atlanta, Ga., who is a registered Independent. Singh’s grandson is a student at Lehigh University and he has other family in the Lehigh Valley.

“I am not a very political person, but the next several years are very important. McCain has got the experience and has faced many challenges. I picked the candidate not the party,” Singh said.

.

LOL this is amazing!!! This is how American citizens so many of us feel , millions of us feel about all that has been happening to our country. Fed up with politicians, fed up with the media being part of the Obama campaign, fed up with Obama and his lies in our face as he smiles and stammers his way through a speech. Fed up with Michelle Obama saying how she is finally proud of America!!!! And fed up with the left, the liberals pushing, shoving and taking over our speech ( Political correctness), their plans for the Fairness Doctrine, stealing from Social Security, not drilling for oil when we have tons of it just for the taking, and so many things and one more huge one………. their not only lack of support for our troops, but their having signs to kill the officers and baby killer and harassing and destruction at Marine recruiting offices. Sending checks for $600,000 to the terrorists to support them from Code Pink one of the endorsers for Obama. Fed up with Obama’s unforgivable comment as he proclaimed that troops in Afghanistan were “air raiding villages and killing civilians.” — Wild Thing

This is what was said by Bill Platt, the Lehigh County Republican Chairman, who talked about Obama’s reluctance to wear an American flag lapel pin: “Certainly Barack Obama can learn a thing or two from John McCain about what it means to be a patriot.” Then he asked the crowd to work for the Republican ticket: “Think about you’ll feel on Nov. 5 if you see the news that Barack Obama, Barack Hussein Obama, is president of the United States.”

Palin To Drop Puck At Philadelphia NHL Game

.

Palin set to drop puck at Philadelphia NHL game
Lebanon, PA news
Sarah Palin’s next faceoff will come at center ice at an NHL arena, not at a debate. The GOP vice presidential nominee will drop the ceremonial first puck when the Philadelphia Flyers open the regular season against the New York Rangers on Saturday. Palin, the Alaska governor and self-described “hockey mom,” will join the winner of a team promotion for the “Ultimate Hockey Mom” to drop the puck.
Last month, Palin visited a Philadelphia bar with Flyers owner Ed Snider, who has donated money to Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s campaign.
“Because of the tremendous amount of publicity she has brought to our sport, we invited the most popular hockey mom in North America to our home opener to help us get our season started,” Snider said in a team statement Wednesday. “We are very excited she has accepted our offer and we are very proud of the publicity she is generating for hockey moms and the sport of hockey.”
The team will award all hockey moms entered into the contest with a free “puck-er peach” lipstick and four tickets to a hockey game of the Flyers’ minor league affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. The winner will appear on the ice with Palin for opening faceoff.
Saturday’s game starts at 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center

Go Lightening!
Wild Thing’s comment………
Oh my gosh I LOVE hockey!! My Dad used to take me to hockey games a lot in Chicago when I was a little girl. It is such an exciting game. When Nicholas and I moved to Florida from Calif. I wacthed the Lightening games on TV.
This is great. I’m sure Biden will be green with envy since he was born in Pa.
Ed Snider voted for Ronald Reagan and from the various things I have read about him he hates communists. haha therefore I guess Obama is not invited. heh heh.
Thank you Darth for telling me about this in your comment.

Notes On Presidential Debate October 7th

Brokaw sounds like he’s half dead! Also Brokaw chose a bunch of horrible questions. The debate was constrained and limited by Tom Brokaw.
I also noticed that Brokaw said John McCain but when talking about Obama said Senator Obama several times. What a total jerk Brokow is. I have never liked him and he just gets worse.

The first answer from Obama ( evil incarnate) and he says it, “the last eight years of Bush.” This is his mantra, to blame Bush for everything no matter what.
McCain hammers energy independence , keep taxes low, we need to stop the spending spree in Washington, we need reforms.
Mr. Obamajangles
Obama on his bar stool, looks like Sammy Davis at the Sands.
Only thing missing is a glass of booze and a cigarette.
And an eye patch.–Wild Thing
And then there is Obama’s smirking.–WT
Obama, “health care is a right;”
Communist answer from Obama. Hey Idiot Obama Americans have no idea what a right truly is. Now it just means entitlement, thanks to commie’s like YOU! The people in this country who want socialism DO NOT DESERVE to be American citizens. Too bad we can’t offer them the choice to strip them of their citizenship and deport them to some nanny state paradise they’ll love.– Wild Thing
McCain, “health care is a responsibility.”

OK here is how a true conservative would have answered, he or she would have done further then McCain’s answer. something like this: “Our Founding Fathers specified precisely what our rights are. They are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That’s it. Those are our rights. Everything else we have is a privilege or a responsibility. That includes education, health care, and houses. To live as a free people – free both economically and politically – we dare not inflate the idea of rights to include every good and service that we desire. That habit of entitlement-thinking leads to the welfare state and to socialism, two killers of economic freedom and prosperity.” — Wild Thing

McCain bringing up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — “Obama and his cronies giving loans to people who could not pay it back” — discussing too vaguely what he did to stop it. He’s on the right track but needs to be SPECIFIC and HARD!!
McCain….he’s throwing the gauntlet down on Fannie/Freddie, specifically the Democrats. GOOD! He just blamed Obama and his “cronies”, good.
Senator Smirky (Obama) got the 2nd most donations from them of anyone ever! Meanwhile Obama sits there like a dummy and grins while McCain is saying he’s the 2nd greatest beneficiary of graft from Fannie/Freddie.
McCain is setting the real record straight. Still McCain appears to be nervous, but he’s laying out how Obama’s entitlement over spending programs are outrageous.
Tom Brokow has some make up on. About a gallon and a half I’d guess. LOL!! His face is as smooth and orange as a Muppet’s.
Obama makes me sick!
I am so sick of the blame Bush garbage.
Obama bringing up 9/11 when talking about spending. What the hell????
Obama :” Many of you may remember 9/11.”
Many of you?. Shouldn’t that be all of us , you pile of Marxist puke? Hey FREAK Ho-bama, 9/11 wasn’t a “tragedy.” It was an unprovoked act of mass murder of 3000 innocent civilians carried about by Islamic terrorists. The same terrorists who cowardly destroyed 3,000 innocent American lives support Barack Hussein Obama. Why is Obama getting so much money in offshore (illegal) donations from the Middle East? He is a Trojan for Islam.
Obama: “If we could have done anything to stop the Holocaust…”
We did, you dumb know nothing! We went to war with that paper hanging son of a bitch, and stopped him from finishing his evil work with the blood of American patriots! — Wild Thing
“Brokaw just said Obama this is a question FROM YOU?”
Oh my gosh, besides Obama being totally RUDE at the first debate and now this one too, he is once again asking the questions. You know Obama has a real problem with the need to control people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hussein also said, “Two years ago, I sent a letter to Fed Chairman Bernanke warning about the impending subprime mortgage crisis…”

Obama is a LIAR! The problem for this drooling, lying imbecile? Two years ago, Alan Greenspan was the Fed Chairman, not Bernanke. In fact, I’ll bet that two years ago, Hussein had no idea who Bernanke was or how to get in touch with him. –Wild Thing

I loved it when John McCain quoted Barack Obama: Senator Obama, you said that if the economy was bad, you would withdraw your tax plan. (Looking right in Obama’s eyes) Well, Senator Obama, I’ve got information for you. The news is bad.

McCain Calls Obama ” That one” …….LMAO I love it! Oh my gosh this was just so perfect!!!

“You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one,” said McCain, gesticulating towards Obama. “You know who voted against it? Me.”

McCain was talking about buying up bad mortgages…
He didn’t explain his plan well.
This is the plan he is proposing: ….This is from the McCain/Palin email I received.
AMERICAN HOMEOWNERSHIP RESURGENCE PLAN

John McCain will direct his Treasury Secretary to implement an American Homeownership Resurgence Plan (McCain Resurgence Plan) to keep families in their homes, avoid foreclosures, save failing neighborhoods, stabilize the housing market and attack the roots of our financial crisis. America’s families are bearing a heavy burden from falling housing prices, mortgage delinquencies, foreclosures, and a weak economy. It is important that those families who have worked hard enough to finance homeownership not have that dream crushed under the weight of the wrong mortgage. The existing debts are too large compared to the value of housing. For those that cannot make payments, mortgages must be re-structured to put losses on the books and put homeowners in manageable mortgages. Lenders in these cases must recognize the loss that they’ve already suffered.

The McCain Resurgence Plan would purchase mortgages directly from homeowners and mortgage services, and replace them with manageable, fixed-rate mortgages that will keep families in their homes. By purchasing the existing, failing mortgages the McCain resurgence plan will eliminate uncertainty over defaults, support the value of mortgage-backed derivatives and alleviate risks that are freezing financial markets.

The McCain resurgence plan would be available to mortgage holders that:
· Live in the home (primary residence only)
· Can prove their creditworthiness at the time of the original loan (no falsifications and provided a down payment).

The new mortgage would be an FHA-guaranteed fixed-rate mortgage at terms manageable for the homeowner. The direct cost of this plan would be roughly $300 billion because the purchase of mortgages would relieve homeowners of “negative equity” in some homes. Funds provided by Congress in recent financial market stabilization bill can be used for this purpose; indeed by stabilizing mortgages it will likely be possible to avoid some purposes previously assumed needed in that bill.

The plan could be implemented quickly as a result of the authorities provided in the stabilization bill, the recent housing bill, and the U.S. government’s conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It may be necessary for Congress to raise the overall borrowing limit.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
So that is about it, a few bells and whistles but not all I hoped for.
Just this, we can see what is happening and so much of it is socialism, why they are all bent on this when it has never worked in any country is beyond me.
There is so much on Obama that anyone running against him could have a field day, a banquet of choices to pick from to lay into him about, just as Sarah Palin has been doing.
Something to notice is how easy it is when one is a conservative for that person to stand up for what our country was meant to be and has been till the liberals and rino’s got a grip on it. Heck I would love to debate Obama, no big deal, I would have to be coached on some policy things but darn I would not hesitate. Those sitting on the fence are the ones wanting to know the huge differences in what Obama’s America would look like and a conservative one that stays in tune with our Founders. The challenge would not be having the nerve to speak up, but in how much time I am allotted for my answers.
This debate was not for people like me, I have made up my mind. I am voting McCain/Palin and for the rest down the ballot to keep Republicans in office. I want the majority back in the Houses and Pelosi and Reid combing the desert for water with one of those ugly sticks as they dry up and wither away into the sand storms.
Once we get a win, and I pray we do, then the other work starts when we let McCain know how we don’t like things he wants to do. Hopefully this will be kept to a minimum but let’s not bet on it. ( rolling my eyes here).
The worst kind of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialism.
Our founders never intended for many of the things we see happening today to ever happen. They never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people . They never intended for government to deprive we the people of our
constitutional rights to free speech as we have seen happening with PC taking over and lawsuits happening because someone said something that was not PC. They never intended government to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems. But all these things and more things are socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals.Unfortunately liberals lite let’s call them or rino’s have grown in masses in our own party.
Our founding fathers would be aghast and furious to see what is happening, shots would be fired I am sure of it.
Pray for our country and our troops.

Looking Into B.Hussein Obama’s Life

Obama and Rezko

Looking Into Obama’s Life
author Unknown

“This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since than. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some mi ddle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking ‘where did the m oney come from for Obama’. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.”

“I started looking into Obama’s life. “

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not appl y himself to his studies. ‘Barry’ (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.
During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a ’round the world’ trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family, then off to Africa to visit his father’s family.

“My question – Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he start ed school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It’s not cheap to say the least! Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York. “

By ‘chance’ he met Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’.
About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans?
After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland.
Guess what? They represented ‘Rezar’ which is Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago.
In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ‘seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race.
In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

“Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?”

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was ‘sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will ‘Take care of things’.

“Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those ‘small’ Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East? “

On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on ‘This Week’ with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned, ‘he made a mistake’. Some mistake!

“All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it – Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times – Obam a visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times – September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.”

“Now the BIG question – If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven’t all of our ‘intelligent’ members of the press been reporting this?”

“A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear – ‘Beware of the enemy from within’!!!”

Wild Thing’s comment……..
I do not know the person that wrote this, but the information is accurate and VERY interesting. There are some things in here I never knew before.
How anyone that had even 1/10th of what Barack and Michelle have in their not so distant past in their lives is able to run for any political office is shocking to me.
And how the media not only insistes non of this matters, or even scoffs those trying to put this information out to the public is a disgrace and anti-American.
And lastly how anyone could vote for Obama if they even have a hint as to the kind of person he is shows how few people that SAY they love America simply do NOT!

…..Thank you Mark for sending this to me.
