Senators John McCain and Barack Obama spoke at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The annual charity event was the last scheduled appearance of the presidential candidates on the same stage before the November election and offered an opportunity for each candidate to make humorous remarks about themselves, the other candidate, and the election campaign.
McCain’s remarks were flat out hilarious, totally stole the show, he got a standing ovation, and “That One” ( Obama) was not so funny and received meager applause.
John McCain has quite the comedic timing!!! He COMPLETELY rocked the house, and managed to make some stinging points at the same time.
My bet is that someone like Dennis Miller wrote his speech, but whoever wrote it, they should win a comedic political speech award, if there is one. I especially enjoyed him setting up Obama at the end…very creative! And, hilarious!

Quotes from Barack at last night’s dinner:
“Contrary to the rumors, I was not born in a manger,” Obama said.
“But to name my greatest strength I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it’s possible that I’m a little too awesome.”
These are actual quotes from the M(ass)iah himself as seen on the Obama video’s.
Toledo Blade He won’t say who he will vote for on Nov. 4, but did say he likes Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. He said he was born in the Toledo area, lived until he was 13 in the Florida Panhandle area, went to Springfield High School, and then entered the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at an Air Force base in Alaska from 1992 until 1995. He said he was honorably discharged.
Joe Wurzelbacher held a news conference this morning at his Holland, Ohio home. Holland is about 8 miles from Toledo.
An advocacy group Family Security Matters secured an interview with Mr. Wurzelbacher
At a recent campaign appearance in Ohio, Sen. Obama was approached by plumber Joe Wurzelbacher, who has concerns about Obama’s proposed tax policies. FamilySecurityMatters.org’s Pam Meister had a candid conversation with him about his experience. PAM MEISTER: You recently met Sen. Obama on the campaign trail in Ohio, and you asked him a question about his tax policies. What exactly was your question for him? JOE WURZELBACHER: Initially, I started off asking him if he believed in the American Dream and he said yes, he does – and then I proceeded to ask him then why he’s penalizing me for trying to fulfill it. He asked, “what do you mean,” and I explained to him that I’m planning on purchasing this company – it’s not something I’m gonna purchase outright, it’s something I’m going to have to make payments on for years – but essentially I’m going to buy this company, and the profits generated by that could possibly put me in that tax bracket he’s talking about and that bothers me. It’s not like I would be rich; I would still just be a working plumber. I work hard for my money, and the fact that he thinks I make a little too much that he just wants to redistribute it to other people. Some of them might need it, but at the same time, it’s not their discretion to do it – it’s mine.
Regarding Obama’s statement that he didn’t want to punish success: PAM MEISTER: …taxing small businesses making $250,000 and above is going to help the people “behind you.” And yes, “spreading the wealth around.” How did you feel about that? JOE WURZELBACHER:As soon as he said it, he contradicted himself. He doesn’t want to “punish” me, but – when you use the word “but,” you pretty much negate everything you just said prior to that. So he does want to punish me, he does want to punish me for working harder to – you know, my big thing is the American Dream. I work hard. You know, I was poor; my mom raised me and my brother by herself for a very long time until my dad came along. So I know what it’s like to suffer. It’s not like I was born with a silver spoon. Usually it was a wooden spoon and it was on my butt. It was just a contradiction of terms, what he said: he doesn’t want to punish me but he wants to redistribute my wealth. And what I mean when I say my wealth, I mean the collective. Eventually – I mean, just to sound a little silly here, but you need rich people. I mean, who are you going to work for?
.
Good Morning America’s Diane Sawyer spoke with Joe Wurzelbacher.
Having become the nation’s most famous plumber, Wurzelbacher explains that he doesn’t make $250,000 now, but hopes to do so as a small business owner. And he sees no reason why that will remain the cutoff in an Obama administration, anyway:
.
FOX channel….John Gibson is a good man, I have read his articles and liked his commentary for several years. John Gibson talked to Joe Wurzelbacher just before the debate began.

Joe The Plumber’s Chat With Couric
Joe Wurzelbacher – immortalized during tonight’s presidential debate as “Joe The Plumber” – spoke with CBS Evening News anchor ( Couric is Horrible disgusting – my words added ) Katie Couric shortly after the conclusion of the final debate between Barack Obama and John McCain.
To get a sense of just how central Wurzelbacher was to the debate, consider this: McCain and Obama mentioned Wurzelbacher 26 times during the 90 minute debate. By contrast, Iraq came up six times, and the word “economy” was used 16 times.
While still on the air, Couric asked Wurzelbacher what he thought of the debate. He said he wasn’t swayed either way, though he seems to be leaning towards one of the candidates.
“I mean I have a pretty good idea who I’m going to vote for but you know that’s my – you know, the nice thing about going into the booth is only me and the lever knows,” he said. “I think McCain did a fine job this evening, I think he brought up some good points. I do like his health care and I do like his, where he stands on taxes.”
COURIC: We want to go to Joe the plumber, Joe Wurzelbacher from Toledo, Ohio, because Joe is telling me that he’s got three live trucks parked outside his house – actually from Holland, Ohio, let me correct that, Joe. Was this a bit of a surreal experience, hearing your name mentioned not once, but twice, but almost half a dozen times during the course of this debate, Joe? Mr. JOSEPH WURZELBACHER: Yeah, actually, surreal’s a good word to use for it. It was – you know, I was glad I was able to act as some type of point, you know, to where they could sit there and hammer out what they both think, what they want to say. But ultimately, you know, the important part was the debate. COURIC: And again, why don’t you just reiterate quickly for us, Joe, because I want you to get back, get to your local news station where you are, how you felt about the statements made by the candidates vs. the statements you heard when they were out on the campaign trail talking to you. WURZELBACHER: One thing I noticed that seemed like Obama changed his mind on offshore drilling, which I thought was a good move. I don’t know how much he wants to do of it, I’d like to talk to – hear more about that. McCain I – made a solid – you know, McCain was solid in his performance.
Obama speaks well, but the one thing that’s really important, that everyone in America really need to know is, you know, talk is talk. You know, he can speak pretty, but, you know, there’s got to be action behind it. We’ve seen McCain, we know his actions. Even if you disagree with him, at least you know where he stands. McCain – or Obama, we’re not sure where he stands yet, even after his debates. Like I said, he speaks eloquently, better than I do, but I honestly, I still don’t know where he stands. He’s said a lot, but none of his experience has backed it up. You know, the only experience I’ve seen or his actions are raising our taxes, so, you know, I’m middle class. I can’t have my taxes raised anymore. COURIC: Well, he supposedly will raise taxes only on people who make over $250,000 a year. Would you be in that category? WURZELBACHER: Not right now at presently, but, you know, question, so he’s going to do that now for people who make $250,000 a year. When’s he going to decide that $100,000 is too much, you know? I mean, you’re on a slippery slope here. You vote on somebody who decides that $250,000 and you’re rich? And $100,000 and you’re rich? I mean, where does it end? You know, that’s – people got to ask that question. COURIC: Could you just, Joe, explain quickly, and then we’ll let you go, how you met both of the candidates? WURZELBACHER: I’ve yet to meet John McCain. Obama came to my neighborhood and my son and I were outside tossing the football, and all of a sudden he showed up, and there went our football tossing for a while. And, you know, neighbors were outside asking him questions, and I didn’t think they were asking him tough enough questions, so I thought, you know, I’ll go over there. You know, I’ve always wanted to ask one of these guys a question and really corner them and get them to answer a question of–for once instead of tap dancing around it. And unfortunately I asked the question but I still got a tap dance. Do you – almost as good as Sammy Davis Jr. COURIC: Joe Wurzelbacher, I mispronounced your last name earlier, Joe. Maybe you should fill in on “Meet the Press,” Joe. Or “Face the Nation,” I should add. I know they’re looking for someone on “Meet the Press,” that’s why I said that. Joe, hey… WURZELBACHER: Great. I’ve got opinions and I, you know, and that’s it. But I – you know, everyone has opinions. COURIC: Yeah, that’s for darn sure. Well, Joe, thanks so much for talking with us. I’ll let you get outside to your local news reporters. And really, I really appreciate your spending some time with us tonight. And now everybody knows your name, at least, right? WURZELBACHER: I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but we’ll see how, you know, the future brings.

Joe Biden just more words, just more LIES!
Biden is worried about the truth and it came from Joe the Plumber!
Wild Thing’s comment………….
Middle America Says No To Socialism!!!! I think that Joe the Plumber is America’s everyman and woman all of us. There’s a Joe in every city and town in America. Thank God for Joe and for Sarah Palin.
Obama said “spread the wealth” to Joe’s face.
Now Obama and his spinners want to lie and claim Obama said something else or change the subject.
Obama said “spread the wealth” as in Karl Marx.
It should be frightening to anyone who sees this video to consider that here in a few short, concise comments by a plumber we hear more common sense and wisdom than we are used to hearing from our elected leaders in a month.

National Plumbing Organization Responds to ‘Joe the Plumber’ Focus Market Watch
Today the president of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors–National Association (PHCC) released a statement applauding the efforts of both presidential candidates for their focus on plumbing contractors during the presidential debate on Wednesday night. Plumbing, heating and cooling contractors are small business owners who are becoming a prominent part of the debate on the country’s economic future.
“We think it is great that comments from ‘Joe the Plumber’ were brought up several times in last night’s presidential debate,” said PHCC President Joe Schmitt, Joe Schmitt & Sons Plumbing & Heating, Englewood, Ohio. “Plumbing, heating and cooling contractors, most of whom operate small businesses, have been a big part of the American economy during our organization’s 126-year history. Unfortunately, smaller companies like ours can be forgotten as the country focuses on big business issues.”
“The impact of the next administration’s tax policy will have a major impact on our members, no matter which party is in office. It is our sincere hope that both the Democratic and Republican candidates will think long and hard about the comments of my fellow Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher as they consider future tax programs. It is imperative that entrepreneurs like Joe and PHCC members across the country have the opportunity to buy small businesses and create jobs for Americans. That is the American dream, after all.”
“Small businesses throughout the nation are hurting during this economic downturn. With rising gas prices, the cost of health care and the uncertainties facing our financial markets, they’re being hit from all sides. Reform of our nation’s tax policies should be a top priority for the next administration. The survival of PHCC’s members and America’s small businesses may depend on this. The next president must consider the needs and contributions of plumbing, heating and cooling contractors as small businesses. This has to be priority in order to help this economy recover and to encourage investment from new business owners.”
“Throughout our 126-year history PHCC has helped to protect the health and safety of the nation. It is now Washington’s turn to step up to the plate and help save our businesses.”

Cooll! This is great, with the attacks staring on Joe this is good news and a backup for what he has said how he feels. Not a backup for Joe , but to show Obama and his thugs this is not an isolated case of one person speaking out like Joe did.
It is all of us, all Americans that work hard and don’t want socialism.
There once was a plumber named Joe
Made Obama look just like a schmoe
Knows his job to a tee

Gov. Sarah Palin, speaks at a campaign stop at the Bangor Airport, Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, in Bangor, Maine
They had to change hangers the small one could not hold everyone. Crowd estimated at almost 14,000 to 15,000. See below also crowd size at N.C.
Sarah Palin, right, with Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, reacts with excitment as she sees the crowd waiting for her in an airplane hangar during a campaign stop at the Bangor Airport
BANGOR, Maine
(AP)
Sarah Palin has been campaigning in Maine, where she scolded Barack Obama for not disavowing a community activist group that registers voters.
The group known as ACORN – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – has drawn condemnation from the GOP ticket as its workers sign up voters in swing states. Nearly a dozen states and the FBI are looking into allegations of voter registration fraud.
Palin told about 6,000 people at Bangor International Airport that she feels right at home in Maine with all the steel-toed boots and NRA hats. She promised that she and John McCain would look out for the interests of the working class.
Note the doofus woman at the end of the video saying “I’m really glad I got to see her in person. I’ve only seen her on TV, and she didn’t seem to connect. I’m one of those Republican women who was on the fence over her…” ….she is lame brain but we still want her vote. haha
At a rally in Bangor, Maine, she praised the debate performance of her running mate, John McCain. Then the GOP vice-presidential candidate added to the growing conversation about Joe Wurzelbacher. He is the plumber from Ohio whose name was mentioned more than two dozen times by the presidential candidates in their final debate Wednesday night.
McCain, Palin said, is “a leader who’s going to Washington to work for Joe the Plumber.” She later added: “You know, we want to cut taxes because we think like Joe or Jane the Plumber thinks.”
Sarah brings up the OTHER Joe……Joe Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate. “Our opponents want to raise taxes because they think like that other Joe, that six-term senator from Delaware whom I’m running against,” she said.

Palin says God blessed America with oil and gas
ELON, N.C.
(AP)
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Thursday that God blessed the nation with oil and gas resources and other forms of energy that should be tapped to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign suppliers.
The Alaska governor told supporters at Elon University that she and GOP presidential nominee John McCain will develop new energy sources.
“God has so richly blessed this land, not just with the oil and the gas, but with wind and the hydro, the geothermal and the biomass,” Palin said. “We’ll tap into those.”
Palin said some of the countries the U.S. relies on for energy use their resources “as a weapon.” And she said the billions spent each year on oil imports should be circulated within the country “for the sake of the nation’s security.”
“We need to drill here and drill now,” Palin said as the crowd chanted “drill baby, drill.” A protester at the back of the crowd shouted “No blood for oil.”
.
Palin’s message delights crowd of 15,000 at Elon The Times News.com
ELON – Resplendent in GOP red heels, Sarah Palin toed the platform above home plate at Latham Park at Elon University and hammered home a low-taxes, small-government, pro-family, pro-America message to the delight of a large crowd.
Palin said Obama and Biden “think that government is the solution.
“I disagree with that. I think that government too often is the problem,” she continued. “And we need government put back on your side so that our businesses and our families can keep more of what they produce and earn, and then you prioritize, you reinvest … that is how jobs are created and our economy gets moving again.”
In this election you have a choice between inspiring words and inspiring and trustworthy deeds that come from John McCain,” she said. “Now North Carolina, I’m here to ask you – are you ready to help us carry this state to victory? Are you ready to make John McCain the next president of the United States?”
The crowd frequently interrupted her speech with full-throated approval, hoisting signs, waving pompoms and chanting “USA, USA …. Sarah, Sarah, Sarah” and “Drill, baby, drill.”

‘Sarah-liscious’: Seen at the Palin rally Thursday the times news.com
ELON, N.C.
Like her or not, few would call Sarah Palin boring.
That made for unusually colorful campaign buttons, T-shirts and signs at her political rally at Elon University on Thursday.
Many focused on the former beauty queen’s physical appearance. Others played on the self-proclaimed hockey mom’s convention acceptance speech joke that “lipstick” is the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull.
Here’s a sampling:
— “I’m proud to be voting for the Hot Chick!” This bold statement on a campaign button was accompanied by a photo of Palin from her time as Miss Wasilla, the Alaska town where she was later mayor.
— Along similar lines, one campaign button proclaimed Palin “The Hottest VP from the Coolest State.”
— “Sarah-liscious,” accompanied by the image of a lipstick print.
— “Vote for the Man with the Lipstick-Wearing Pitbull.”
— “Read My Lipstick.”
— “Sarah Barracuda,” a reference to Palin’s nickname earned by her aggressive high school basketball play.
— “You Go, Girl!” seen on campaign buttons and signs.
— NObama. No explanation needed.
— “Drill, baby, drill!” a reference to the McCain-Palin campaign’s emphasis on finding new domestic oil.
— “Mothers of 5 rock,” seen on a sign one woman held up. As you’d guess, that’s the number of children Pain has.
— “Extra chromosome equals extra love,” written on a sign Palin mentioned seeing in the crowd while giving her speech. She and her husband’s youngest son was born this year with Down Syndrome.
— Five Elon students painted their chests to spell Palin’s last name. (Yes, they were male). Five students from Alamance Christian School were a little less bold, spelling her name with letters painted on T-shirts.
— Political items on sale at the rally included decks of playing cards featuring mostly Republican political figures. But Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is the joker in each deck.
.
Wild Thing’s comment………..
Sarah’s crowds are always so great, huge and they all love her just like we all do. I am so proud of her, thank you God for our VP candidate.
I just love it. Finally, somebody is speaking up for the old “Silent Majority” which has been mercilessly abused culturally and fiscally by leftist politicians for 40 years. Her message is really resonating with Americans who treasure the land that is almost lost. A simple message, too – smaller government and no terrorist pals in the WH.
Can you count the number of “guest workers” coming out of this Van?
LOL OMG!! They look like ants scrambling. Send them back!!!!
I got 25 but I migiht have counted one too many or……….not enough. See what you come up with. Nicholas got 24.

There are more Republican seats (23) in the U.S. Senate up for election than Democratic seats (12). Of the 12 Democratic seats only 3 are not considered very safe for the Democrats. Of the 3 safe seats only one, South Dakota has a strong conservative running in opposition. He is Joel Dykstra.
Running for Senate in 2008, Canton native Joel Dykstra is a proven leader in South Dakota. He has served South Dakotans in the State Legislature since 2002. In 2004, Joel was elected Assistant House Majority Leader, a position he still holds today. He also chairs the House Taxation Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the House State Affairs Committee.
State Rep. Dykstra is rated as a hard-core conservative and his opponent, Sen. Johnson is rated as a Moderate Liberal Populist on the OnTheIssues.com website. Dykstra is pro-life and against same-sex unions, while his opponent is primarily pro-abortion and supports the homosexual agenda (hate crimes and against keeping marriage the exclusive domain of one man and one woman.)
Senator Johnson received national attention in late 2006, when he began suffering from severe health problems. The possibility arose that he might step down. That would have led to a Republican filling his Senate Seat and returned control of the Senate to the GOP. However, Johnson’s health has improved and he is currently serving his duties as Senator. State Representative Joel Dykstra website
Joel’s opponent, Tim Johnson has voted repeatedly against domestic drilling and effectively increased our dependence on foreign oil. Now he’s flip-flopped on the issue – not completely – but just enough to make it a talking point for their media blitz. Another example of too little, too late is the current crisis in the financial sector. Senator Johnson’s much highlighted senior role on the Senate Banking committee does not seem to have translated into his sponsoring any meaningful reform efforts. It seems to have been business as usual in Washington these past years with incumbents taking large PAC checks for their reelection campaigns while looking the other way when it came time to provide leadership and oversight. So, like it or not, American tax payers are now in the mortgage and insurance business.
Sort of makes you want new representation in Washington.
Wild Thing’s comment………
I am posting this for those that are able to support Joel Dykstra in their area and if you know anyone that lives in his area as well you can send them this post.
This Presidential election will take our country forward and keeping America the best it has always been or down a road of total socialism and worse.
All the races in this election are important and we need to try to get as many Republicans as we can elected to get back the majority in the Houses. Joel is a conservative and that makes him in my opinion the Grade A Republican we need. I have posted about others running in other States that we need to keep an eye on as well and pray they win for their State and for America.
Fox to change World Series time for Obama Presidential candidate’s ad buy interfering with game
By Paul J. Gough NEW YORK
Barack Obama might have the power to move the World Series by a few minutes.
To accommodate a half-hour Obama time buy on Fox on Oct. 29, Major League Baseball has agreed to move the start time of World Series Game 6 by about 15 minutes. That would move the start of the game from 8:20 p.m. ET or so to 8:35 p.m.
“Fox will accommodate Senator Obama’s desire to communicate with voters in this longform format,” Fox Sports said in a statement. “We are pleased that Major League Baseball has agreed to delay the first pitch of World Series Game 6 for a few minutes in order for Fox to carry his program on Oct. 29. If requested, the network would be willing to make similar time available to Senator McCain’s campaign.”
Along with CBS and NBC, Fox was approached by the Obama campaign last week to purchase the 8-8:30 p.m. time slot Oct. 29. If a Game 6 is needed, Fox is obligated to carry the game. That prevented the network from agreeing outright to carry the commercial, which was cleared by CBS and NBC last Thursday.
The blessing from MLB clears the way for Fox to air the promo and collect upward of $1 million in ad revenue for the half hour, more than what either CBS or NBC was charging.
While a big network ad buy from a presidential candidate is rare, it’s not unprecedented for a network and sports league to move the start time of a sports event to accommodate a political broadcast. In early September, the National Football League moved up the kickoff time of the opening-night game — which aired on NBC — to 7 p.m. to make sure that the game would be over before Sen. John McCain stepped up to the podium to accept the nomination of the Republican party during the RNC.
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Obama’s “Heidi” moment.
Here we go – it’s starting – OBAMA is going to make us change everything we love about this country. Starting with the start time of our GAME.
This will be his second European tour. He is not the POTUS and there is no vital emergency message he needs to convey. Obama’s message is one of self importance to propel him for his own ego. Most viewers will not want the game delayed for the false messiah. They are tuning in to watch baseball, not Obama.
His entire campaign has been scripted. He’s looking pretty desperate if he has to buy a half hour to reach Joe Six Pack.
His speech in Germany was seen by many here as “overboard.” And let’s not forget his acceptance speech at the Greek Temple in Colorado. Everything this guy has done is excessive, and over the top.
Too bad Sarah Palin isn’t scheduled to throw out the first pitch! That’d take the hype out of Obama’s prime time BS.
LOL I told Nicholas about this and I was all upset. He just laughed hahahha and I asked why aren’t you upset? He explained that this is great and will show what a jerk Obama is and then handed me a cookie. hahahaha Nicholas is a genius of course and absolutely rigiht. giggle…. Thank you Nicholas…..GO NAVY!
POS Murtha On Obama and says…… “Racist Western Pennsylvania”
And this on Murtha as well……………….
Arrogant Murtha to Americans: “Tough Shit.”
Jack Murtha is undoubtedly not only the most corrupt member of congress, but the most arrogant.
When complaints arose that it is still difficult to find information regarding earmarks embedded in legislations, Murtha had a wonderful answer to those Americans who wish to know where their tax dollars are going:
Last year, Congress promised to shed light on the secretive process. But the lists of earmarks are still buried in obscure documents that are difficult to find and search. Until Congress put them online a couple of weeks ago, the House disclosure letters, linking lawmakers to companies, were thick volumes of paper kept in a cabinet in the offices of the House Appropriations Committee.
When a reporter for Congressional Quarterly pointed out how difficult it remains to pull all the information together, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., chairman of the committee that drafts the defense bill, had a quick answer: “Tough s***.”
Support Lt Col. William Russell For Congress!
John Murtha : “These people in western Pennsylvania would rather suffer under a John McCain presidency rather than vote for a black man,” noted Murtha. “And then they wonder why they are how they are, and why the region suffers economically. Pure ignorance. And I personally don’t give a damn what Bill Russell says, he’s just as racist!”
Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.: “Western Pennsylvania is made up primarily of working class crackers, veterans, bitter clingers, and old, unyielding white people, most of whom would barely let Obama shine their shoes,” stated Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell.
Senator Joe Biden: “This has nothing to do with the terrorist Bill Ayers,” fired Senator Joe Biden, . “This has everything to do with race, and Americans know it deep down in their heart! Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity should shut their mouth, and quit spewing their vitriol!”
Joe Biden , well he just can’t count. LOL
Wild Thing’s comment…..
When oh when are they going to take this pig Murtha to the slaughter. I sure hope Lt. Col. Bill Russell (ret) can beat this jerk in this election and we can be rid of Murtha.
