Where Were You Born, Obama?

Roger Kimball may have tagged it first: The real news out of Chicago this week wasn’t Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s arrest on cartoonishly lurid charges of corruption stemming from his alleged attempts to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s now-vacant U.S. Senate seat. The real news out of Chicago this week was that President-elect Barack Obama had nothing to do with it.
And I mean nothing to do with any of it. There was an almost comical aspect to the spectacle of journalists across the mainstream media (MSM) suddenly, as if on command, assuming pretzel positions in a contortionist’s effort not to seem at all curious, for instance, about the discrepancy between David Axelrod’s recent declaration that the president-elect had discussed Senate-seat replacements with Blagojevich, and Obama’s more recent declaration that he had done no such thing.
The MSM instantly agreed: Obama had nothing to do with it. Such a message took Obama out of the story even before the story itself was clear.
This mantra, this strategy should be familiar by now. Whether it is Jeremiah “G — d — – America” Wright, William “We didn’t do enough” Ayers, or now, Rod “F — – him” Blagojevich, Obama is never a player, never even a responsible presence in controversies involving associates past and present. In the media-filtered version of events, he’s just not even there. But in no story is what we may one day come to think of as Obama’s invisible man-hood more obvious than in the still-roiling controversy over Obama’s birth certificate.
What controversy? Anyone who relies solely on MSM outlets (and most conservative outlets) may not even know that Obama has, to this day, not authorized the state of Hawaii to release his Certificate of Live Birth — the “long form” — to prove that he is a “natural born citizen” (NBC), a Constitutional requirement of all presidents. Instead, We, the People, have online access to an Obama document known as a Certification of Live Birth, which, as Randall Hoven explains at American Thinker blog, is a computer-generated short form that is not even accepted by the Hawaii Department of Home Lands as adequate verification of Hawaiian identity. (The Home Lands Department requires “information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth,” or long form.) Further dimming the online document’s Holy Grail aspects, it has been altered — the certificate’s number has been redacted — which, according to a statement printed on the document, actually invalidates it.
But that’s not all. Back on Oct. 31, Hawaii’s director of health, along with the registrar of Vital Statistics, released a statement verifying that the Hawaii’s Department of Health has Obama’s “original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”
Well, that’s just great. But no matter how many times this statement from “Hawaiian authorities” is cited as the NBC clincher, it doesn’t prove a thing. It turns out, as Hoven reports, that Hawaii issues birth certificates even for babies born elsewhere, so simply having an original Hawaiian birth certificate “on record” doesn’t answer the key questions. Namely: What exactly does this original birth certificate say? And why doesn’t Obama simply authorize the document’s release and be done with the question?
This is some of the background to the birth-certificate controversy. According to the same MSM reporting that omits Obama from everything, however, the controversy is the sole, self-inflicted creation of people unreasonable enough — no, kooky enough — to be concerned about the issue. This includes citizens who have gone to court (up to the U.S. Supreme Court) in more than a dozen states with various NBC-related complaints, all of which could be resolved by the release of Obama’s original birth certificate. It also includes followers of radio shows or Internet forums including KHOW’s Peter Boyle in Denver, the blog Atlas Shrugs and the news Web site WorldNetDaily.com, which have aggressively covered the story.
In the MSM’s no-Obama version of events, though, such efforts and interest are mocked as the freakiest kind of lunacy. And this same MSM argument has lately been trumpeted by prominent conservative voices.

“Shut up about the birth certificate,” David Horowitz wrote this past week.

Shut up? Is he kidding? Apparently not. Horowitz went on to tell “fringe conservatives” and “birth-certificate zealots” that their “continuing efforts” to “deny Obama his victory” are “embarrassing and destructive.”

NRO’s Mark Krikorian, in turn, congratulated Horowitz for “stomping on the ridiculous, bitter-ender efforts to disqualify Obama from the presidency.”

Michelle Malkin, too, pooh-poohed the “birth-certificate hunters,” describing them as having “lurched into rabid Truther territory.”

(“Truthers,” by the way, are people who believe the United States engineered the attacks of 9/11.)
I disagree. I think it is nothing less than good citizenship to seek to verify that Obama is a “natural born citizen” since our elites, which include the major political parties and the MSM, failed to bring the matter to its extremely simple resolution long ago.
But while important, this isn’t just a story about whether we as Americans are right or wrong to ask our president-elect the question about his original birth certificate. It is about whether our president-elect is right or wrong not to answer it.
Once again, Barack Obama is treated as though he were not even a part of this story. Those who seek to resolve the birth certificate controversy draw the fire, but not the man who causes it. Talk shows, court battles and blogs can air the issue, but it is only Obama who can put it to rest. And he can do it simply by authorizing the release of his original, “long form” birth certificate — and quickly, preferably before the Electoral College meets to validate his election on Dec. 15, but certainly before his term of office begins on Jan. 20, 2009.
Unless, of course, he has something to hide.

This is an excellent article. Obama is the one that should be “gone after”, certainly not those of us that want the Constitution respected and followed. Anyone else elected to be President would have to follow what the Constitution says and Obama is no different. No exception, just because he is the first half black, half white person to be elected to become President. I want and expect anyone running for President to be constitutionally qualified and no less.
Obama is NOT bigger then our country, NOT bigger then our Constitution and his actions and words have shown otherwise in how he thinks of himself.
Everyone should be allowed their opinion about this, and some will find it more of a passion then others. I am cool with that. Just like I don’t expect every American to think about our troops and Veterans every day of their life like I do. That is just my thing and I can’t change who and what I am. Our Constitution ranks at the top as well with me. It is something I was taught about as a young child and through the years. My Father did not take us on our holiday’s to the East coast and the memorials, the White House, Capitol, House of Rep., Arlington, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and all the other educational places for the heck of it. He wanted to instill in us how important each one of these things were that made our country what it was then and now, and God help us in our future too.
I remember several years ago when Clinton was President, Oliver North was giving away free little booklets of the Constitution. The size a person could put in their pocket if there were a man and a woman in her purse. Why??? Because he knew how important our Constitution is to our country.
I think it is sad when there are those that do not get it, that do not see it is not some tin foil hat baloney but of such great importance that it could change drastically everything about our great and awesome land of the brave.

This is so awesome what they are doing. I love the Patriot Guard Riders and the Snowball Express really does a lot of good too. Thank God for these that know how important it is NEVER to Forget.

The “Snowball Express” was created so that Americans and businesses could honor and pay tribute to the children (and parents) of those military fallen heroes who have died while honorably serving since 9/11. The program started in December of 2006 when nearly 900 family members from all across America and the world gathered in Southern California for an unforgettable holiday gathering. In Nov 2007, over 1,100 children and surviving parents attended (as guests of Americans, corporations, and service groups who donated their time, money and resources) yet another healing event. Kids, parents, and widows discovered they weren’t alone. And they found they weren’t forgotten.
The Snowball Express flight on the West coast will originate in Seattle (45 people will board), make a stop at PDX (23 people will board), and another stop in Sacramento (35 people will board) before arriving in Southern California. This flight is one of six in the U.S. all destined for the same place (Disneyland/Universal Studios).
At Sacramento the Sacramento Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker (soldiers, mice, party children, and the Nutcracker) will be costumed at the theater and transported to the airport to offer a festive atmosphere. The soldiers will “Stand Guard” at the gate as the passengers board. The Sacramento Ballet is also bringing equipment to play Holiday Music. This is an event that we all will never forget and what a wonderful way to help the children celebrate the Holiday Season. We will never forget the fallen!
Snowball Express is dedicated to helping the children of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces since 9/11.
On December 16th through December 20th of this year, Snowball Express will host 2000 children and surviving spouses in Southern California, from all across America, for an all-expense paid holiday gathering none of them will ever forget.
The price of freedom for these families is paid every day with the loss of a loved one.

Is Emanuel the adviser on gov tape?

President-elect Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, refused to take questions from reporters this morning about whether he was the Obama “advisor” named in the criminal complaint against Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
The complaint states Blagojevich wanted a promise of a high-level appointment or some other reward for Blagojevich in exchange for Blagojevich naming Obama’s friend Valerie Jarrett to replace him in the U.S. Senate.
Emanuel was uncharacteristically absent from Obama’s news conference this morning. He was spotted two hours later in the lobby of Chicago’s City Hall. He was there to listen to his two children performing in a concert with their school, Anshe Emet.
A Sun-Times reporter pressed him to comment about whether he was the emissary named in the criminal complaint.

“You’re wasting your time,” Emanuel said. “I’m not going to say a word to you. I’m going to do this with my children. Dont do that. I’m a father. I have two kids. I’m not going to do it.”

Asked, “Can’t you do both?” Emanuel replied, “I’m not as capable as you. I’m going to be a father. I’m allowed to be a father,” and he pushed the reporter’s digital recorder away.

Blagojevch was caught on tape saying that he wanted the Obama advisor in question to know what Blagojevich wanted in exchange for the Jarrett appointment.

Blagojevich said, “He asks me for the fifth CD thing, I want it to be in his head.” Emanuel represents the 5th Congressional District in Illinois.

No one in the Obama campaign or administration has been charged with any wrongdoing. Obama said this morning that none of his staff has had a hand in any dealmaking on his Senate replacement.

Obama isn’t even elected and already his administration is immersed in scandal. hmmmm Does this mean the Pres-elect is finally being vetted by the media. hahaha
Also Obama refuses to take questions from any “reporters” not on his Official Reporter Suck-Up List. I am not sure about the last few days, but at all those stupid press conferences he was holding every single day he would not call on any Fox reporters to answer their questions.

IMO I really think U.S. politics has officially “jumped the shark” on Ronald Reagan’s last day as President. It has gone down hill since then.

U.S. House passes rescue plan for auto industry

WASHINGTON: The House voted 237 to 170 Wednesday night in favor of a $15 billion rescue for the automobile industry, but the fate of the measure was uncertain because of shaky support among Republicans in the Senate.
The House approval of the Democratic-backed program was not a surprise, given the Democrats’ 236-to-198 advantage in the chamber. The bigger test will come in the Senate, where the Democrats’ edge is only 50 to 49 and where 60 votes are needed to advance the legislation because of procedural rules.
Debate in the House focused on the whether the bailout was good for the country or simply a waste of money. While supporters of the bill emphasized the economic fallout if the carmakers failed, critics said there were no guarantees that the companies could restructure without bankruptcy.

Unanswered questions alarm anti-corruption investigators
The corruption arrest of Gov. Rod Blagojevich is raising questions about what Sen. Barack Obama knew of the Illinois Democrat’s alleged activities, including his apparent offer to appoint Obama’s preferred candidate to serve in the U.S. Senate in return for “private sector” help from Obama.

“This is a burgeoning crisis for Obama that should shake his presidency to its core,” said Tom Fitton, chief of the Judicial Watch organization today.

“The criminal complaint filed today indicates that Obama and his team knew about Blagojevich’s efforts to sell Obama’s Senate seat,” he said.

“Did Obama report Blagojevich to investigators about any efforts to sell his Senate seat?” Fitton asked.

ABC’s Jake Tapper also expressed concern over the same issue.
On his blog, he wrote that while appearances seem to indicate Obama “refused to go along with the ‘pay to play'” Blagojevich plan, there were significant questions.

For example, he wondered “how Blagojevich knew that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything in exchange for the Senate seat – with whom was Blagojevich speaking? Did that person report the governor to the authorities?”

The case did, however, mention Tony Rezko, a longtime Obama friend, fundraiser and real estate partner, Judicial Watch noted.

Obama told reporters, “I had no contact with the governor or his office, so I was not aware of what was happening,” clearly distancing himself from his home state and its governor, whom he previously had endorsed for re-election.

“I am saddened and sobered by the news that came out of the U.S. attorney’s office today. But as this is an ongoing investigation involving the governor I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to comment at this time,” he said.

But Tapper noted Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, appeared “said something quite different” in an interview Nov. 23 with Chicago’s Fox affiliate.

“While insisting that the president-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a ‘kingmaker,'” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”

Obama’s response insufficient in governor scandal

Tonight, a call for a little more transparency from President-elect Barack Obama about what he did or did not know about the allegations against Gov. Rod Blagojevich in Illinois.
I will first re-iterate what we heard from U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. He said Obama did nothing wrong and there are no allegations of wrongdoing against the president-elect.
Then Obama himself said he never had contact with the governor about who should replace him in the Senate and had no idea any of this was going on.
Fair enough. But that is all Obama has said.
And what now looks pretty clear, at least based on these tapes and what the U.S. attorney is telling us, is that someone from Obama-world did have communication with the governor about this.
Who was it? What was said?
Attempts by CNN reporters and others to get answers have been met with a big: “no comment due to an ongoing investigation.”
Sorry, but that’s not good enough for someone who ran a campaign based in part on a promise of more openness and transparency.
At the very least you could have assured that you and your staff are getting to the bottom of this and fully cooperating with the investigators.
After all, we can figure some of this out on our own.
It seems pretty clear that Valerie Jarrett, soon to be one of Obama’s top White House advisers, was at one time on Blagojevich’s shortlist to take Obama’s Senate seat, and that there was some communication between Blagojevich and someone in Obama-world — someone who allegedly conveyed to the governor that all he would ever get from Obama was appreciation.
So who was this point-person on Obama’s team?
Did they know what Blagojevich was allegedly up to? And did they tip off investigators?
Or did they know the governor was allegedly soliciting bribes and did nothing?
These are unanswered questions.

When Clinton was in office, just about everybody he took with him to Washington or left behind in Arkansas was convicted of something, including the then Governor of Arkansas, and now Obama get’s elected and apparently everybody he was connected with in Illinois is going to jail.
The media and the Democrats managed to fool America into believing that the Clinton’s were the only clean politicians from Arkansas, and now the media and the Democrats actually want America to believe the Obama is the only clean politician from Illinois.
I think Obama will be protected by the media. They will not let the Messiah be asked difficult questions.
Funny, no press conferences from the fake office of president elect yesterday. Going to the mattresses I guess.
This reminds me of the scene in “The Godfather” in which Robert Duvall’s Tom Hagen, the Corleone family’s consigliore, and James Caan’s Sonny Corleone argue over how to respond to an attempt to kill Sonny’s father, Don Corleone.

“Sonny,” Hagen says, “let’s talk about this and get a meeting up.”

“No!” Sonny shouts back. “No more meetings . . . we go to the mattresses.”

In the film ” The Godfather”, going to the mattresses meant drawing in all the members of the extended crime family to sleep and eat in one place so they’d be together as they sought revenge for the Godfather’s shooting.

A great song of the Vietnam War written and sung by SFC Jim Tolbert, who served multiple tours in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). “Purple Heart” was never played nationwide, but it was played in Vietnam and also on some local radio stations in the Ft. Bragg (Fayetteville) NC area circa 1967-68.
Although 40 years have passed, “Purple Heart” is still fondly remembered by many Special Forces soldiers of the Vietnam era.

They’ve become a fixture in the skies over Iraq and Afghanistan, a new breed of unmanned aircraft operated with remote controls by “pilots” sitting in virtual cockpits many miles away.

This is a photo of the Global Hawk UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)that returned from the war zone recently under its own power. (Iraq to Edwards AFB in CA) – Not transported via C5 or C17.
Notice the mission paintings (in black) on the fuselage.
It’s actually over 250 missions…(and supposedly 25 air medals).
That’s a long way for a remotely-piloted aircraft.
Think of the technology (and the required quality of the data link to fly it remotely).
Not only that but the pilot controlled it from a nice warm control panel at Edwards AFB.
Really long legs- can stay up for almost 2 days at altitudes above 60,000 ft..
The Global Hawk was controlled via satellite; it flew missions during OT&E that went from Edwards AFB to upper Alaska and back non-stop.
Basically, they come into the fight at a high mach # in mil thrust, fire their AMRAAMS, and no one ever sees them or paints with radar.
There is practically no radio chatter because all the guys in the flight are tied together electronically, and can see who is targeting who, and they have AWACS direct input and 360 situational awareness from that and other sensors The aggressors had a morale problem before it was all over.
It is to air superiority what the jet engine was to aviation.
It can taxi, take off, fly a mission, return, land and taxi on it’s own.
No blackouts, no fatigue, no relief tubes, no ejection seats, and best of all, no dead pilots, no POWs.

Barack Obama says his presidency is an opportunity for the U.S. to renovate its relations with the Muslim world, starting the day of his inauguration and continuing with a speech he plans to deliver in an Islamic capital.
And when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20, he plans to be sworn in like every other president, using his full name: Barack Hussein Obama.

“I think we’ve got a unique opportunity to reboot America’s image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,” Obama said Tuesday, promising an “unrelenting” desire to “create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together.”

The world, he said, “is ready for that message.”

He also made it clear that, even as he plans his move to Washington, his heart will remain in Chicago. His “Kennebunkport” will be the South Side, Obama said, and he pledged to return at least every couple months for some family down time.

The conversation was his first with a newspaper since his election on Nov. 4, and it came just hours after Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested on a federal conspiracy complaint. The complaint alleges that Blagojevich essentially tried to auction off the appointment to replace Obama in the U.S. Senate, but the president-elect declined to speak about any discussions between his representatives and those of the governor, a fellow Democrat.
Obama said he never has spoken personally to Blagojevich about his possible replacement, either before or since his victory. Shortly after the interview ended Tuesday afternoon, Obama’s transition office released a statement saying top adviser David Axelrod misspoke last month when he said Obama had talked with Blagojevich about the Senate vacancy.
Obama said the country must take advantage of a unique chance to recalibrate relations around the globe, through a new diplomacy that emphasizes inclusiveness and tolerance as well as an unflinching stand against terrorism.

“The message I want to send is that we will be unyielding in stamping out the terrorist extremism we saw in Mumbai,” Obama said, adding that he plans to give a major address in an Islamic capital as part of his global outreach.

He offered no hints about future Cabinet appointments, but voiced strong support for Eric Holder, his nominee for attorney general, by batting away concerns about his role in the controversial pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich at the end of Bill Clinton’s presidency.
One simple matter comes down to three little words, and on them he has made up his mind: he won’t shrink from using his full name when he takes the oath of office.

“I think the tradition is that they use all three names, and I will follow the tradition,” he said. “I’m not trying to make a statement one way or another. I’ll do what everybody else does.”

Even in the White House, though, he doesn’t plan to sever ties to home. He made reference to former President George H.W. Bush’s White House getaway–Kennebunkport, Maine.

“Let me explain to you, my Kennebunkport is on the South Side of Chicago,” he said. “Our friends are here. Our family is here. We are going to try to come back here as often as possible . . . at least once every six weeks or couple months.”
