Kenyan government imposes gag order on Obama family
wnd
No media contact: ‘We are doing this because we want to ensure better flow of information’
The Kenyan government has barred unapproved contacts between the media and President-elect Barack Obama’s extended family.
Family members will be required to receive permission from the government before making any public statements about their famous relative, according to the Nairobi Star.
“We are doing this because we want to ensure better flow of information,” Athman Said, an under-secretary in the Ministry of Heritage, told the Obama family in Kogelo.
“The government has decided that you should inform its officers who will be based here if you want to address the media.”
Journalists wishing to speak with the family must first be approved by the government.
This is not the first attempt to block press interest in President-elect Obama’s African connections.
Jerome R. Corsi was detained in Kenya while investigating Obama’s close ties to the nation’s prime minister, Raila Odinga.
The Kenyan official who reportedly orchestrated the detention was Odinga himself, according to WND sources inside Kenya.
~ snipet ~
Corsi had earlier seen the flow of information stymied by the Obama campaign itself:
“I was able to interview Obama’s uncle, Sayid Obama, the brother of Obama’s father, when I was doing the research for ‘The Obama Nation,'” Corsi said. “But Auma Obama, Obama’s half-sister, declined an interview by telephone, telling me that the Obama campaign had advised the Obama family not to speak with me, either from the United States by phone, or in person in Kenya.”
Two weeks ago, parliament passed the Kenya Communications Amendment Bill, a controversial measure that gives the state power to raid TV stations and newspaper offices, as well as to control broadcast content. The bill awaits the approval or rejection of President Kibaki.
While the latest attempt to embargo news about and from the president-elect’s African family may anticipate passage of the “media gag” bill, economics, tourism and boosterism are also part of the equation.
Under-secretary Said, who informed the Obamas they were muzzled, announced the Obama Cultural Home project, which will include a museum, a gallery and a leadership center in the family’s town of Kogelo. A video featuring Mama Sarah Obama, the president-elect’s step-grandmother, will relate the Obamas’ family history. Said added that the Ministry of Heritage is negotiating with the U.S. government to display Obama’s publications.
The investment in the family’s village so far has caused land prices to double in the past several months. Electicity service has been routed to the community and investors are rumored to be planning hotel construction to serve the tourists expected to travel the “Presidential Heritage Tourism Circuit.”
The proposed heritage center’s siting in Kogelo has not been well received by the entire Obama clan. Some are demanding that the project be built in Kanyadhiang, the ancestral home of Barack Obama’s father before the family moved to Kogelo.
Heritage minister William Ole Ntimama confirmed the government’s intent to invest in the project.
“This is a great opportunity to open up the western tourism circuit and we have asked Treasury to find us some money so that we can roll out a number of projects that will make this a truly memorable cultural site,” Ntimama told the Star.
He took issue, however, with his under-secretary, saying he had not been informed about the press ban.
“It will be surprising if they have done that because it is not right,” said Ntimama. “The Obama family should be allowed to say whatever they want to without any bureaucracy.”
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Well sheesh, there goes the Barack HUSSEIN Obama birth place souvenier stand!
Talk about how to make a guy look even more guilty then he is already. Wow, talk about suspicious…who do they think they’re kidding! It seems for one thing Corsi REALLY got too close to finding more things out.
“It said the government would also vet all those seeking information about the family.”
Note they are not only gagging the family, but also investigating anyone who dares to ask questions about Obama:
Under penalty of what? Wil they be death with a dull machete?
I would bet that Obama’s campaign is doing some pay offs to have this GAG order done. You know just a little gift of a few million to those in charge in Kenya.
“We are doing this because we want to ensure better flow of information,” Athman Said, an under-secretary in the Ministry of Heritage”
OH sure that makes a lot of sense.
“The government has decided that you should inform its officers who will be based here if you want to address the media.”
Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler and other notoriously deceptive tyrants and murderers had the same policies in place for their societies. Kenya is a fascist state for doing this.
Remember when I posted about this……..
A black-tie dinner and ball are scheduled to take place on the night of the inauguration at posh Marriott Gateway Hotel. It is said to be a pan-African gala in honour of the first US president of African descent.
Kenya’s ambassador in Washington Peter Ogego said he hopes the new president and the First Lady will include the event in their round of inaugural balls.
Invitations are also being sent to incoming Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and UN ambassador Susan Rice, Mr Ogego added.
Mr Odinga is expected to attend both of the Kenya-sponsored inauguration celebrations.
So I have these questions!!!!!!
What the heck is everybody hiding about this guy?
Doesn’t 0bama have anything to be proud of?

CHICAGO
Gov. Rod Blagojevich is legendary in Illinois political circles for not picking up the phone or returning calls, even from important figures like the state’s senior senator, Dick Durbin.
But there was always one call Blagojevich regularly took, say his aides, and that was from Rahm Emanuel — his congressman, his one-time campaign adviser and, more recently — and troubling for Emanuel — one of his contacts with President-elect Barack Obama’s transition staff.
The friendly rapport Blagojevich and Emanuel shared over the years has suddenly become a troubling liability for Emanuel and the new president he will serve as chief of staff.
Emanuel and Obama have remained silent about what, if anything, Emanuel knew of the governor’s alleged efforts to peddle Obama’s vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder.
Emanuel did contact the governor’s office about the appointment and left Blagojevich with the impression that he was pushing Valerie Jarrett, a close Obama friend, so he wouldn’t have to compete with her in the White House for Obama’s attention, said a person close to Blagojevich. The person was not authorized to talk about the governor’s discussions regarding the vacancy and requested anonymity.
Wild Thing’s comment…….
Rahm Emanuel is as dirty as the day is long. The press will give him a pass, but it’s still true.
“On the night after the 1996 election, “Emanuel was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! … Dead! … Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.”
Just think of what he’s saying about obamanation’s enemies.
Yes, Delaware There Is A Santa Claus!
The DOVER POST
By Darth
Delaware, your disbelieving politically correct friends are incorrect this time. Perhaps they have been bitten by the humbugs from Christmastime past, or have been negatively influenced by modern day Scrooges and Grinches. Yes sir! Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas and Kris Kringle are alive and well!
Oh, what a yuletide joy, to see the faces of children after seeing what Santa Claus has delivered under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning! Only a few hours before, while tucked into their beds, they dreamed about eight rugged reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh from the North Pole skies down to Austrailia, and across the seas to the Hawaiian Islands…
Yes, Delaware, Jolly Old St. Nick exists on radio broadcasts, television shows, movie screens, and can be read about in dictionaries, books, novels and even on the Internet.
More importantly, Santa Claus lives in the hearts and minds of Christmastime believers worldwide. He lives in the writings of Washington Irving, Clement Clarke Moore, Charles Dickens and Thomas Nast.
Not BELIEVE in Santa Claus? You might not as well believe in kindness, goodness, charity and goodwill on earth! True, there are times when Santa Claus can’t be seen, but does this mean that he doesn’t really exist? I ask you, Delaware, can we really see kindness, charity and goodwill all the time? Can hope and faith be gift-wrapped and sealed with a pretty ribbon or a bow?
NO Santa Claus?
Thank God that Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas and Kris Kringle exist today, and live forever and ever through the ages.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Delaware!

Corsi detention orchestrated by Obama’s political friend
wnd
The Kenyan official who reportedly orchestrated the detention of WND senior staff reporter Jerome R. Corsi when he visited Kenya to investigate President-elect Barack Obama’s close ties to the nation’s prime minister, Raila Odinga, was Odinga himself, according to WND sources inside Kenya.
Corsi, whose recent book, “The Obama Nation,” raised questions about the Democrat when he was a candidate for president, had scheduled a news conference in Nairobi to discuss his discoveries during his visit this fall.
However, he was detained by immigration officials and held without food for much of a day until he was escorted onto his already-booked flight leaving Kenya with the sendoff, “See you in hell.”
Now sources inside Kenya have reported to WND that his detention was orchestrated by Odinga, not President Mwai Kibaki or Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Corsi, in fact, had discussed with governmental officials for the president and vice-president his findings, and they provided no objection to his scheduled press conference.
However, investigations conducted for WND by members of Odinga’s own party, the Orange Democratic Movement, reported the links to Odinga. The investigators are being left unidentified by WND for their own safety.
The Kenyan sources for WND identified the links between the detention and Odinga as a bodyguard for Odinga, identified by sources only by the name Magajo, and an immigration minister, Mr. C. Nyangeso.
Both were contacted by telephone in Kenya by WND.
Nyangeso responded to a query from WND about who gave the orders that Corsi be detained by admitting he had information, but he would not disclose it on the phone, promising to e-mail it later. The e-mail did not arrive.
The bodyguard told WND on the telephone he also knew the source of the orders for Corsi’s detention, but he would not reveal any information before a payment of $600 would be delivered to him.
WND previously has reported Corsi, while in Kenya, shared with the offices of Kibaki and Musyoka copies of his prepared remarks for the scheduled Oct. 7 press conference in Nairobi that was shut down when he was detained by Kenyan military and immigration authorities.
“Through the day when I was detained and prevented from giving the press conference in Kenya, top Kenyan immigration officers who were Kikuyu tribesmen identified themselves and told me Odinga had made the phone calls which led to my detention,” Corsi told WND.
“I had been in Kenya for a week and was planning to hold the press conference on the last day I was in Kenya,” Corsi said. “After extensive meetings with the government, I knew the office of the president and vice president knew the press conference was scheduled and had no problems with the statements I was going to make about my investigations in the country.”
Corsi’s prepared statements, published later by WND, established links between Obama and Odinga’s presidential campaign in Kenya, including documentary evidence showing Obama helped raise nearly $1 million for Odinga’s presidential campaign in three separate visits Odinga made to the U.S. with the assistance of Obama’s staff.
Corsi also was prepared to release 2006 e-mail documents handed to him in Kenya by former ODM party members and validated by the sources as authentic that established Obama designated Mark Lippert in his U.S. Senate office to be the go-between in communications with Odinga.
Lippert was identified by the Chicago Sun-Times as a member of Obama’s “inner circle of foreign policy experts” who is expected to join Obama’s White House staff.
Corsi also was prepared to present at the press conference additional confirmation of the authenticity of the memorandum of understanding Odinga signed with Sheik Abdullah Abdi, the chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum to expand Islamic law, or Shariah, in Kenya. In exchange, NAMLEF agreed to swing Muslim voters to Odinga in the December 2007 presidential election.
In Kenya, Corsi also was told by government authorities, without confirming that Obama was born in Kenya, that the government’s position was that any documents that might exist regarding Obama’s birth in Kenya were under seal or otherwise unavailable.

The democrat party is a criminal enterprise. The Constitution is merely an outdated nuisance to the democrats. Their voters are too socialist now to care a whit about the Constitutional contract by which the Republic exists.

Bored Caroline Kennedy wants a Senate seat to play with
By Howie Carr
Boston Herald
If her name were Caroline Schlossberg, her candidacy would be a joke.
History is repeating itself – and this time it’s even more farcical than in 1962, when Eddie McCormack, the state attorney general, uttered his famous put-down of then-29-year-old playboy Ted Kennedy:
“If your name were Edward Moore, your candidacy would be a joke.”
The difference between Massachusetts 1962 and New York 2008 is that Teddy had to run for the office. Forty-six years later, his niece Caroline expects – no, demands – to have a Senate seat handed to her, on a silver platter.
Elections? Kennedys don’t need no stinkin’ elections.
Apparently the U.S. doesn’t have a Senate anymore. We have a House of Lords. Instead of seats, we have peerages.
By now everyone has noticed that all the media hags who were so bent out of shape about Sarah Palin’s alleged lack of experience are touting Caroline’s deep hands-on credentials as . . . honorary chairman of the American Ballet Theater.
Not chairman, mind you. Honorary chairman.
Imagine a petulant, spoiled, rich 8-year-old dropped off with her dissipated relatives for the weekend. Imagine her plaintive cry:
“Uncle Teddy! I’m bored!”
At least out in Illinois, Jesse Jackson Jr. was pressured to pony up $1.5 million for his appointment to a Senate seat. Caroline wanted it the way her family always gets things: on the arm. If this is how they run things in Albany now, give me the Chicago way any day.
I’m sure she’ll be a reliable vote for higher taxes. Kennedys always are, except for when it comes to paying their own, especially estate taxes. Do as they say, not as they do. As Leona Helmsley used to say: Taxes are for little people.
Apparently, so is voting. Caroline’s got better things to do than stand in line at some sweaty precinct with the hoi polloi, enduring the foul breath of the plebeians.
She gets the seat, of course. Her main opponent is the state attorney general, scion of a lesser political dynasty. Andrew Cuomo happens to be the ex-husband of Caroline’s cousin, Kerry Kennedy. In a nice twist, Kerry has been making the case for her cousin on TV: “She’s a mother and a woman!” And you thought Caroline had no qualifications.
“We live in a country where one out of every five girls is sexually assaulted by the time she’s 21.”
Is this a good talking point for any Kennedy, male or female?
Here’s a bit more from Kerry:
“She hasn’t sought money . . . she hasn’t sought fame.” No, all she wants is a crummy Senate seat. The chumps in Congress say it shouldn’t be handed to her? Don’t they know who Caroline is?
Uncle Teddy! She’s bored!

The Los Angeles City Council passes a host of new gun and ammunition laws.
VIDEO HERE form the Los Angeles News
The move is intended to help reduce the city’s gun and gang violence, but an NRA lawyer says a lawsuit is likely.
Los Angeles Times
By Maeve Reston
December 18, 2008
The Los Angeles City Council approved a package of gun control laws Wednesday, placing new requirements on ammunition sellers and banning the sale of military-style ammunition in the hopes of further reducing the city’s gun and gang violence.
The measures ban the sale of .50-caliber ammunition, capable of penetrating a car’s engine, and would require the city’s ammunition vendors to be licensed, to sell ammunition face-to-face instead of over the Internet and require gun dealers to report a full accounting of their inventory twice a year to the Police Department.
The council passed laws prohibiting the installation of secret compartments for guns in cars and allowing the city to permanently seize vehicles used by certain gang members during a crime, which was proposed by City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo.
The council also approved an ordinance that would allow landlords to evict tenants who are convicted of illegally possessing weapons or ammunition within 1,000 feet of the rental property.
A lawyer for the National Rifle Assn. said his client probably would file suit to block some of the measures.
Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who helped develop the ordinances with Councilman Jack Weiss and other members, praised the package at a news conference before the vote.
“We use this to stop a vehicle,” Bratton said, holding up a .50-caliber bullet longer and thicker than a finger. “Unless you are out trying to kill Godzilla, and I think the last time we saw Godzilla was in the 1950s, there is no need for this type of weapon” unless it is in the hands of the military or law enforcement, he said.
Villaraigosa dismissed questions about whether the ammunition restrictions would have a practical effect since buyers could simply purchase the bullets over the Internet or in cities where the laws do not apply.
“Part of what we’re doing here is leading the way,” Villaraigosa said, stating that the measures are another tool to fight gun violence and that he hoped other cities and President-elect Barack Obama’s administration would follow suit. “This is the most far-reaching effort of any big city in the country. . . . This isn’t about symbolism; it’s about results.”
The council approved the measures unanimously.
But C.D. Michel, a Long Beach attorney who represents the National Rifle Assn. and the California Rifle & Pistol Assn., said his clients were likely to sue over the new laws governing ammunition sales and vendors because they either conflict with or are duplicated by state law.
Michel, the law partner of city attorney candidate Carmen A. Trutanich, also questioned the effectiveness of the ammunition measures, noting that there are only a handful of gun vendors left in the city and buyers could go elsewhere.
“A lot of these don’t really do what the sound bite would portray them as doing,” said Michel, who accused Weiss of pushing the measures to get publicity for his own campaign for city attorney. “It’s about trying to look like you’re doing something when you’re not really doing anything. . . . My clients will just just challenge the ones that are illegal in court.”
Weiss, who introduced four of the ordinances and is chairman of the city’s public safety committee, addressed the possibility of legal challenges by the NRA at the news conference.
“I think the message from everyone up here to the NRA is pretty simple: Make our day. We will fight you in court. We will win,” Weiss said.
Wild Thing’s comment……
NO. The new law IS intended to make it harder for law abiding citizens to defend themselves from the criminal element, and thus to become more dependent on the State and the police. There IS no other explanation. The lawmakers HAVE the data, they HAVE the statistics, and they STILL keep “tightening” gun laws. Their disingenuousness becomes more obvious to everyone with every new statute.

Obama to create Iran outreach post
Washington Times
and FOX News
The incoming Obama administration plans to create a new position to coordinate outreach to Iran and is considering a number of senior career diplomats, State Department officials and Iran specialists say.
President-elect Barack Obama promised during his campaign to seek dialogue with Iran without preconditions in an effort to persuade Tehran to suspend its uranium enrichment program, but also has pledged to toughen sanctions.
A State Department official said the idea of naming a senior Iranian outreach coordinator was broached in the first transition meetings with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mr. Obama’s choice for secretary of state, and her transition team earlier this month.
“The idea is that the position should build on the existing diplomatic framework,” the official said. He asked not to be named because a nominee has not been announced.
A spokeswoman for Mrs. Clinton declined to comment for this article. Brooke Anderson, a spokeswoman for the transition, also would not comment.
However, several Iran specialists said such a position was in the works.
“There is every indication that they are seriously considering going this way,” said Patrick Clawson, deputy director for research at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a group that has warned of the dangers of Iranian proliferation.
Trita Parsi, president of the National Iranian American Council, an organization that supports U.S.-Iran dialogue, said that a special envoy position for Iran is planned.
The current administration has refused to negotiate with Iran unless Tehran first suspends its uranium enrichment program. However, in July, Undersecretary of State William Burns attended a meeting in Geneva with an Iranian nuclear negotiator along with senior diplomats from the other four permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – Britain, France, China and Russia – plus Germany.

Never heard the term “outreach” used in conjunction with those that have national holidays celebrating death to Israel, death to America! Hey Obama this is not the same thing as your community organizing and outreach programs in Chicago.
Governor’s Office mum on investigation
The New Mexican
by Steve Terrell
12/18/08
Gov. Bill Richardson’s office Thursday would neither confirm nor deny reports the governor has hired a lawyer to represent him in a grand jury investigation over a possible “pay-to-play” scheme involving a state transportation and highway program.
Gov. Bill Richardson cut short a news conference Tuesday, abruptly leaving the room and ignoring reporters’ questions about a federal grand jury investigation.
KRQE, Channel 13, reported Wednesday that Richardson had hired Albuquerque lawyer Peter Schoenburg as his legal counsel in the grand jury case. The grand jury, as reported by The Associated Press and other news organizations this week, is looking into a possible connection between a Beverly Hills, Calif., financial company’s large contributions to Richardson political action committees and nearly $1.5 million the company received for work on a state road-building program.
Schoenburg, who was not in his office Thursday, couldn’t be reached for comment.
Richardson’s spokesman, Gilbert Gallegos, responded, “No Comment,” when asked whether the governor had hired Schoenberg. Asked by e-mail whether the news report was false, Gallegos responded, “I’m not confirming anything. I have no comment.”
Schoenberg represented former Albuquerque Mayor Ken Schultz in the Albuquerque Metro Court corruption case, which led to the conviction of former state Senate leader Manny Aragon. Schultz took a plea deal, agreeing to testify against Aragon and others in that case. Schultz has yet to be sentenced.
Richardson, who is President-elect Barack Obama’s nominee for U.S. commerce secretary, has not answered media questions about the grand jury case. Gallegos has issued a statement saying the governor is aware the federal government is investigating, and he expects members of his administration to cooperate.
The New Mexico Finance Authority in 2004 awarded a contract to CDR Financial Products Inc., making it part of a team of financial consultants that would put together a bond-financing deal for GRIP (Governor Richardson’s Investment Partnership), a state road-building program.
The Associated Press reported in August that CDR and its chief executive officer, David Rubin, contributed at least $110,000 to three political action committees formed by Richardson.
A person familiar with the proceedings told The Associated Press this week that the grand jury is looking into dealings between CDR Financial Products and someone in a position to push the contract through with the state of New Mexico. The source asked not to be named because the proceedings are secret.
The grand jury follows an FBI probe in which agents sought documents from the NMFA. The FBI interviewed former and current authority officials about New Mexico’s 2004 contract with CDR for the $1.6 billion transportation program.
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Did the Richardson catch the Blago virus? Shucks, that would be a darn shame. Chortle, snort, guffaw!
Let’s see when Bill Clinton was President we had 8 years of the gazillion gates ( TravelGate, FBIGate, FileGate, WhietwaterGate, ChinaGate, etc.) and now we have criminals, Richardson, Browner, Emanual, Clinton, etc., are scheduled to come back in 2009 with Obama. Adding in the ObamathugGate friends and cronies.
Also just a side note, Bill Richardson was the man who introduced Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky. LOL No wonder Hillary is not a big fan of his.
These guys barely made it half way to inauguration day before the sleaze started tumbling out of their closets. And the hits just keep on comin’ unveiling the corruptness of obamanation’s administration. The people filling the positions are just like him—rotten to the core.
Things keep getting more interesting.
Looking back at Bill Richardson:
In the January of 1999, the U.S. House Select Committee on Intelligence published … the “Cox Report” — which found that China had stolen and still was stealing nuclear weapons secrets from the U.S.
The committee reported that “the primary focus of this long-term, ongoing PRC intelligence collection effort has been on … national weapons laboratories.” The national laboratories were under the jurisdiction of Richardson’s Energy Department.
Then in early 2000, two computer hard drives containing information on U.S. nuclear weapons disappeared from Los Alamos.
With the hard drives still missing, and invited to speak before the Senate Intelligence Committee on nuclear security on June 14, 2000, Richardson instead attended a campaign function for Vice President Al Gore at the National Press Club. The committee’s chairman, Sen. Richard Shelby (R.-Ala.), left an empty seat at the witness table with Richardson’s nameplate to highlight his absence. “Perhaps if the secretary would spend more time ensuring the safety of our nation’s nuclear treasures,” Shelby said, “and less time trying to get the Vice President elected President, we would not be here today.”
