A moment between an ex-con and an Army veteran friend is captured on film. You can see the two of them walking together at the beginning of the film.
An Ex-Con who has realized the error of his ways comes face to face with the fact that while he was committing crimes there are others who were defending his freedoms.
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Students should see things like this. Many of them could use a reality check like this to help change their perspectives!
That man would probably make an outstanding Senior NCO.
Back 30-40 years ago, many young men were offered the choice, military or jail. Many of them chose the military which gave them discipline, training, and a purpose in life. Many of those chose to make the military a career. One of them was a close friend of mine. We left for basic training together; he went on the spend the next 20 years in the Air Force. When I was a young Airman and in trouble, a Chief Master Sergeant told me that just about every top NCO in the Air Force had some type of trouble with civilian or military authorities early in their life and it made them better. I like to think he was right.
I also served with a few guys that were given the decision between jail or military. Most of those guys worked out well in the Army. Quite a few stayed in for a career.
This is a great video. I’m going to pass it around to my friends.
Bob, thanks for sharing about that. I have met several Veterans that have told me that they had a choice when they were in highschool and they chose the service. Interesting too they stayed in as a career. Each one of them came from very bad homelife’s and lots of bad influence in their lives and serving in the military changed all of that for them.
Tom, thank you so much.
