Obama administration reimposes offshore oil drilling ban
Because of current U.S. policy, U.S. companies are prohibited from developing oil fields that lie in Cuban waters and come within 50 miles of Florida. However, Cuba is exploring and potentially developing these oil fields, estimated by the U.S. Geological Survey to possess more oil than the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, and Cuba is partnering with China and other countries, such as Spain, France, and Canada.
The Castro Regime will begin drilling off the coast of Florida next year and will go deeper than the Deepwater Horizon rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in April.
But for US companies nope, no way is this allowed.
The Obama Administration yesterday issued a massive new ban on offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
The Washington Post
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Wednesday afternoon that the Obama administration will not allow offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts as part of the next five-year drilling plan, reversing two key policy changes President Obama announced in late March.
“We are adjusting our strategy in areas where there are no active leases,” Salazar told reporters in a phone call, adding that the administration has decided “not expand to new areas at this time” and instead “focus and expand our critical resources on areas that are currently active” when it comes to oil and gas drilling.
Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, said in a statement, “The Administration is sending a message to America’s oil and gas industry: take your capital, technology, and jobs somewhere else.”
Rep. Doc Hastings (Wash.), the top Republican on the House Resources Committee, issued a statement Wednesday afternoon accusing the administration of “taking the wrong approach in responding to the BP spill and creating energy and energy jobs in this country. The answer isn’t to give up and say, ‘America can’t figure it out, we’ll rely on other countries to produce our energy.’ The answer is to find out what went wrong and make effective, timely reforms to ensure that U.S. offshore drilling is the safest in the world.”
.
Wild Thing’s comment……….
There goes whatever recovery was occurring.
“Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Wednesday afternoon that the Obama administration will not allow offshore oil drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico or off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts “
Obama administration will not allow will Not allow. Wow. Hmmmm I guess it is officia, he is KING now ( in his mind anyway)
Obama hates this country with a passion that I have never seen before in my life. Obama’s motto, “America last.”
I hope Bobby Jindal tears him a new one, publicly.
Congress has created hundreds of government agencies and then put the operation of them under the office of the president. Congress is learning what many have known for a very long time, that if you give power to certain people, they will abuse it.
Let’s see, banning offshore drilling, cordoning off Alaska for polar bears, killing coal producing states with Cap and Trade, refusing to build new nuclear and hydroelectric plants, subsidizing the ethanol scam, etc. What is next, John Kerry to wind surf us a new energy policy?
This makes me so angry I cannot even word how I feel properly. The jobs, the economy, the lives effected by this ban and these are AMERICAN jobs, economy and lives.
More Marxist Madness. America the only country in the world that locks up its natural resources.
I read a story about TeXas I guess they have a huge Wind Farm there. When they are tied to the grid, the power company must compensate for there lack of ability to porvide the proper power for motors. It was a hot day and the Industry requires a certain, constant amount of power to run there machines. With the Wind Mills aboard this was creating a problem for the transmission lines. When there is too much of a load, current draw, they heat up and start to sag, literally, so instead of cutting the Windmills lose they started shutting down all the industry in the area. For about 8 hours these companies had no power and lost that money.
This green crap is not the answer. By shutting dwon our drilling capability is virtually doing the same thing, he’s cutting our lifeline to industry that depends on gasoline and diesel to survive.
Theres an old saying, “If you got it a Truck Brought it.” You want inflation just start jacking up the price of Dieseland and gasoline, that is the quickest way to shut down the country, and this A-hole knows this.
Lastly, Allan Simpson, the death warmed over corpse, who called us the greediest generation ever, on the budget committee has recommended increasing the price of Gas by 15 cents. Here in Pa it is already up to 3.04 per gallon, with moritorium on drilling, and that increase, we are facing horrible times.
January seems so far away, for our new congress to right the wrongs of these morons.
Two Federal Courts overturned his offshore oil drilling ban and still no drilling. If Obama and the Federal Govt can thumb their noses at the courts, how come Arizona and Oklahoma can’t?
This jerk is definitely NOT an American–I don’t care where he was born, he was not raised as an American in our culture or our traditions.
He is a Globalist–Americans should have no higher standard of living than any third-world hellhole. If the per-capita income in Venezuela (for example) is $15,000 per year, then the American per-capita annual income should also be $15,000. If our income is to stay high, then the income in India, Bangladesh and Zanzibar must also come up, or our income must come down to equal theirs.
Oh what a lovely time lies ahead.
Bastard needs to have his fucking neck stretched by the citizenry.
The man is a human wrecking ball; a madman on a bulldozer, in a china shop.
“Oh,” says Obama, “I know how to stimulate an economy…shut down primary industry; make energy prohibitively expensive by going green; raise taxes; take over the nation’s health care sector; punish inovators; reward failure. Now, where’s my Nobel Prize in economics?”
Mark, well said, and also that old saying is perfect for this, it says it all.
Allan Simpson is nuts and I agree too warmed over corpse is right.
Bob, I know what you mean, I guess it is that for instance Gov. of AZ. respects the rule of law and obama does not. Even if the rule of law from a liberal judge not following our laws is wrong to the max. Other then that I have no idea. But you make a good point.
Harry, ditto all you said.
Eddie, exactly!!!!!!
The best “green” power is Geothermal, Hydro-electric and nuclear in that order.
We have three super-volcanos Caldara in the United States. The Mammoth Lake, Ca Long Valley and Yellow Stone sites each could provide enough power for the whole country. I don’t see any shovel ready power plant construction at either site.
I do not see dams being built or civilian reactors starting. I work on nuclear subs so I do see reactors being built. There is no reason why Geothermal or reactor could not get the United States energy independent within ten years except Liberals!
Next year it looks like we will all have to burn money to stay warm.
