Obama Criticizes GOP Leadership for Blocking Increase Of The National Deficit

In his Weekly Address, President Obama attacked Republicans for blocking democratic attempts to increase the national deficit. Republicans say they will only support extending unemployment benefits if they are paid for.

Barack Obama is taking aim at Senate Republicans, accusing them of playing politics with measures that would extend benefits to the unemployed and increase lending to small businesses.
Striking a deeply partisan tone in his weekly Saturday radio and online address, Obama said the GOP leadership has chosen to “filibuster our recovery and obstruct our progress” by blocking votes on agenda items the president says would breath life into the economic recovery.
The address was recorded at the White House before Obama flew to Maine on Friday for a weekend family vacation.

Too often, the Republican leadership in the United States Senate chooses to filibuster our recovery and obstruct our progress. And that has very real consequences,” Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address.

Senate Republicans have blocked at least three Democratic initiatives to extend unemployment insurance, citing the need to curb government spending amid a record budget deficit.

“Think about what these stalling tactics mean for the millions of Americans who’ve lost their jobs since the recession began. Over the past several weeks, more than two million of them have seen their unemployment insurance expire,” the president said.

Obama has made job creation his top domestic priority and has traveled repeatedly to the U.S. heartland to tout policies that lift hiring, including to Holland, Michigan, on Thursday for the groundbreaking of an electric car battery factory that has received federal dollars.

That last sentence is the biggest joke of the whole passage; Obama has certainly NOT made job creation his top domestic policy…if he had, we’d already be under the 8% unemployment numbers he promised when he shoved his first “top domestic priority” down our throats – the Stimulus bill. After that, of course, his top domestic priority was the Auto bailout, then the “too big to fail” bailout, then the Health Care takeover, then Financial reform (no more “too big to fail”…EVER)…and so on, ad infinitum. His top domestic priority is no older than his most recent brainstorm for how to get re-elected in 2012.
The $34 billion needed to extend benefits would be borrowed, adding to the nation’s mounting debt. Republicans have tapped into the public’s anger and concern over that debt, saying they would only support extending benefits if the bill was paid for.
In their weekly address, Republicans focused on Obama’s recess appointment of Donald Berwick to the administrator at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. By appointing Berwick while the Senate was in recess, Obama was able to avoid a public hearing and Senate vote for his nominee – a move Republicans have called hypocritical amid Obama’s promises of transparency.

Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, who delivered the address, said Berwick’s recess appointment is particularly troubling given the large role he’ll play in implementing the massive health care overhaul Obama signed into law earlier this year.

“The president’s health care plan – the most sweeping overhaul of health care in our lifetime – cannot be implemented behind closed doors,” Roberts said.

Wild Thing’s comment……
Obama why don’t you REALLY shock us and become a man for once in your life. Not only a man but one that loves his country, OUR country, you know the one you cheated and stole to be your version of a DICtator over.

This commie bastard is right on schedule. U.S. Authorities shut down Word-Press involving 73,000 blogs. This from General Vallely’s site.
They get very testy when someone referes to them as Nazis. Seems to me this is exactly what the Nazi’s did in 1932. They started burning selected works by Jewish Authors, the all books that did not agree with the regime’s theme of total control of the people.
People were next.
“THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.”
We fought a war to prevent this from ever happening again. And here we are 65 years after that war ended starting all over again. The Nazi’s are in power and in the White House.

Sean says:

This arrogant bastard, and his whole administration, has to be stopped.
If the people of the United States do not throw all of the collaborating Senators and Congressmen out, come November, then I am afraid we are a defeated, as as once great Nation.

Wild Thing says:

Mark, thank you so much for posting that poem thing. It says sooooo much and it really is so true too. It is exactly like that when people of any generation do not speak up and fight back.

Wild Thing says:

Sean, Ditto that!!
I feel pretty strong people will vote them out, not in every State but more then before. Oh how I wish it could be across the board. The dem party has been taken over by real communists, it took years to do but they are there and why the old timer dems all don’t leave their party in droves says a lot too. I always remember Zell Miller and how disgusted he was with his dem party and that awesome speach he made.
He should be an inspiration to all other dems that are fed up and also to we Republilcans and the apathy Republicans that wait for all of us to take the lead all the time.
