Yes We Can (Pass Climate Change Legislation)

By JOHN KERRY and LINDSEY GRAHAM
Snipets from article:

…we refuse to accept the argument that the United States cannot lead the world in addressing global climate change. We are also convinced that we have found both a framework for climate legislation to pass Congress and the blueprint for a clean-energy future that will revitalize our economy, protect current jobs and create new ones, safeguard our national security and reduce pollution.

Our partnership represents a fresh attempt to find consensus that adheres to our core principles and leads to both a climate change solution and energy independence. It begins now, not months from now — with a road to 60 votes in the Senate.

It’s true that we come from different parts of the country and represent different constituencies and that we supported different presidential candidates in 2008. We even have different accents. But we speak with one voice in saying that the best way to make America stronger is to work together to address an urgent crisis facing the world.

This process requires honest give-and-take and genuine bipartisanship. In that spirit, we have come together to put forward proposals that address legitimate concerns among Democrats and Republicans and the other constituencies with stakes in this legislation. We’re looking for a new beginning, informed by the work of our colleagues and legislation that is already before Congress.

Failure to act comes with another cost. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration will use the Environmental Protection Agency to impose new regulations. Imposed regulations are likely to be tougher and they certainly will not include the job protections and investment incentives we are proposing.

The message to those who have stalled for years is clear: killing a Senate bill is not success; indeed, given the threat of agency regulation, those who have been content to make the legislative process grind to a halt would later come running to Congress in a panic to secure the kinds of incentives and investments we can pass today. Industry needs the certainty that comes with Congressional action.

Wild Thing’s comment……….
If it’s not socialized medicine it’s cap-and-tax. If it’s not John McCain selling out the Republicans, it’s Lindsey Graham.
Climate change? What happened to Global Warming? This is the biggest con going sense Chicken Little declared that the sky was falling!! The world is full of complete idiots.

Glenn M. Cassel AMH1(AW) USN Retired says:

Fucking Traitor!

cb says:

Damn! Lindsey, what happened to you?
cb

jan says:

These traitors seem to want to make everyone happy except the voters that put them in office.

BobF says:

They changed it to Climate Change from Global Warming because Global Warming was a bunch of BS. Climate Changer is easier to pawn off on people as you shove it down their throats.
We’re sure experiencing some Climate Change right now. It’s currently 36 degrees in Kansas City and 16 degrees in Great Falls, MT. That’s why they had to get rid of the name Global Warming.
Why doesn’t Graham follow his buddy Specter and join the Democrats? He sides with them more than Republicans.

Jim says:

The left must have a picture of Lindsey Graham in a compromising position with a sheep. I can think of no other reason for him to be breaking with the party on this obviously bogus crisis. We are dangerously close to losing our Constitution.

Eddy Burke says:

These people have stayed in Washington D.C. too long, too isolated from the real world. It’s like an indoctrination camp where you are brainwashed… Intellectual incest, that’s what I call it. You must be really a tough son of a b*** to be able to stick to your guns once you get sucked into the “well-thinking” elite in D.C.
Heck, that’s why we love Sarah Palin so much!

Eden says:

Could John McCain and Lindsay Graham just skip off to RINOland hand in hand and STFU now?!?!

SEAN. says:

Sen. Graham is a sellout, and has been for a long time. The term RINO fits him to a T.
Recently I read an article, where he said he considers us Conservatve Common Folk, ignorant and uninformed, as to how the “business of government”, operates. Hard to get more elitest than that.
The fact that he continues to get re-elected, is amazing, especially when Jim De Mint was elected by the same constituency. The Republican Party in South Carolina, needs to come up with another De Mint, to unseat this weazel.
As long as there are people like Graham and Mc Cain in office the Republican Party will not get one cent of my money. I will not foster the continuation of this sort of behavior.

Bob A says:

I’m waiting for some feedback from a town meeting our congresman Scott Murphy (D-NY) is having today. He seems to follow the part line and is for both cap and trade and Obamacare.

TomR says:

Lindsey Graham really should not run for reelection. He is too confused as to which party he belongs to. These Rinos and the hierarchy of the GOP have killed it and the trust conservatives used to have in the party.

Mark says:

Graham is the biggest Horses Ass there is. Another one signing onto the global warming scheme, Algore must’ve offered him a share in the profits from soaking the American Taxpayers for useless Alternative energy sources.
Neither of these two nitwits have a clue of what the hell they are talking about. If they did they would support Nuclear energy.
Wind and Solar are their big thing. Only problem is nobody wants Windfarms in there own back yard. But Wind Power in all its glory doesn’t help the situation… According to Algore, we only need 10,000 Square Miles of open space to build all the wind farms we need. This is NOT true, The real number is 47,000 Square Miles of empty space or maybe an area the size of Nevada. This is a huge area for wall to wall windfarms, windmills as far as the eye can see.
These geniuses in Washington spent 30 billion on renewable energy, that sounds like they are really serious but they only spent 750 Million on upgrading the Transmission system. A full refit the power grid would cost 13 Billion per year for the next 10 years or $130 Billion to upgrade the grid. This is proof positive they haven’t got a clue what they are doing or even looking at.
The consequences of failing to improve the grid played out last year in Texas, the biggest U.S. generator of wind power 8000 megawatts enough to supply 6.3 Million homes. When the winds died in February 2008, utilities had to cut power to factories and offices as output dropped 82 %. The power was available but the Texas grid could not handle the added increase in load. Factories and offices Commercial have a very high power factor, and so do Transmission lines. Without the Transmission line to move the power, It won’t matter how much you can generate if you can’t get it to the user, it is useless.
So this is what Lindsey Gramnesty has signed onto a pig in a poke, at least for the common American, because our rates will skyrocket, predicted to the tune of an EXTRA $1750 dollars a year just for the increased Taxes on electricity, and that is just electricity, due to Crap and Trade.
These goddamn Rinos I wish they would just switch parties and be done with it.

Jack says:

When are we conservatives going to declare our independence? Now you know why I can’t support the GOP!!!

dave 18zulu says:

Global warming? I wish, it was 8degs here in the panhancle of Idaho last night.

Anonymous says:

RINOs suck! They can’t kiss Democrat butt fast enough!

darthcrUSAderworldtour07 says:

Our second home – The Palmetto State – refers to him as Senator Lindsey Useless! At least we have Senator Jim Demint!! Yeah, Lindsey is RINO #1 – like Specter used to be, eh?

JohnE PFC U.S. Army says:

Anonymous there’s another thing the RINO’s suck and can’t suck fast or hard enough. Same with John McCain. Ah, there’s an idea the RINO’s are the 3rd party and I’ll refer to them as McCain’s Navy.
Here’s The Great One on these two:

Ron Russell says:

Graham is a rino for sure. His support of cap and trade does not surprise me one bit. Sure I support the drilling and nuclear plant part of the bill but the other would destroy the economic fabric of the country, so what good would drill and nuclear plants do. Both these items couldn’t occur for years after the passage of such a bill while the massive taxes would take effects much sooner.

Lyn in Australia says:

We are having the same raging debate here in Australia. There are undeniable rapid changes happening to the planet. We are now overseeing the fastest extinction rate of animal species in human history…and deadly pollution in our major cities is increasing at a phenomenal rate as well….and I believe that human activity is causing it. This planet’s human population is doubling every 40 years or so. This generation has been the most prolific devourer of natural resources since the beginning of mankind. We simply cannot go on this way….and yes, we are going to have to make great sacrifices if we are to avoid handing our children a severely damaged world. That is not in question……..what IS in question is the way governments are exploiting the situation for their own political ends. Governments are using Cap & Trade as a revenue raiser, not as a genuine vechicle for problem solving. Business will simply funnel their costs straight to the consumer. Governments & business will simply use the public as a mopping device to absorb any negative financial costings. In fact they will actually make a profit from it. My electricity bill went up by 16.6% this year…and the government has flagged another rise of 15% next year. Australia is a coal burning nation, we export millions of tons of this stuff to China…who are building 600 (yes that is right) coal fired power station per year! Yet Australia (under a socialist government) refuses to embrace nuclear power as a viable energy option. Australia is the world’s largest exporter of uranium….we sell it to China and Russia yet refuse to sell it to India, one of the most populous nations on this planet. Australia has one of the most sunniest places on earth – yet we are lagging behind tiny countries like Israel who are embracing and improving the technology. Our fool of a Prime Minister (Kevin Rudd) is hurdling headlong into a trading emisssions scheme before we even know what Copenhagen is going to decide apon. Australia makes up a tiny 1.4% of the world’s emissions, but the twit seems to think that our little nation will save the world. It’s like having a dyke with a 1000 holes in it and mighty little Australia will use it’s finger to plug one hole. The man is a egomanic driven
tool! Every time I see these ‘conferences’ in Europe I cringe. It’s nothing but another photo op for ego driven politicans backslapping one another for producing what? More talk….more meetings and more plotting to screw & manipulating the masses to death. Scientists know what has to be done to save us from ourselves…..but they have turned the problem over for the politicans to solve. God help us all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The biggest tool of all is your Al Gore…..all talk and no action Al. His carbon footprint is the size of a YETI!! Big SUV, big house, big pool, big air travel, big everything….including is EGO!
