Obama and Gov. Failed with Clunkers and They Want Gov. Health Care? Hell No!

Obama admin. to end cash for clunkers on Monday
Breitbart
The Obama administration plans to end the popular $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program on Monday, giving car shoppers a few more days to take advantage of big government incentives.
The Transportation Department said Thursday the government will wind down the program on Monday at 8 p.m. EDT. Car buyers can receive rebates of $3,500 or $4,500 for trading in older vehicles for new, more fuel-efficient models.
Through Thursday, auto dealers have made deals worth $1.9 billion and are on pace to exhaust the program’s $3 billion in early September. The incentives have generated more than 457,000 vehicle sales. Administration officials said they have reviewed nearly 40 percent of the transactions and have already paid out $145 million to dealers.
President Barack Obama said in an interview Thursday that the program has been “successful beyond anybody’s imagination” but dealers were overwhelmed by the response of consumers. He pledged that dealers “will get their money.”
Dealers have complained of delays in getting reimbursed and backlogs of vehicle paperwork getting processed in the program. Dealers have said they face a risk of not being reimbursed but LaHood has pledged that dealers will get paid for the incentives.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
Another Obama program crashes and burns-—and they want to manage your health care. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!
They have already gone over the top of Congress’ second allocation for this. LOL “The Popular” program the doesn’t work! Dealers are pulling out of it fast and furious for non payment by the Gov’t.
In our paper and on the news here we arfe told several times a day that dealers are not being reimbursed for the $3500 and $4500 and many stopped offering it.

Rhod says:

Only 2% of CT auto dealers have been reimbursed by the pencil chewers managing this idiotic program. Most of them have used up their lines of credit.
Useful cars are being destroyed, removing inventory for people who can’t afford new ones, and parts suppliers and repair shops will lose even more business.
This is a model for every shit-for-brains liberal fantasy of government interference. I can only hope that the regular Democrat who votes for these freaking nitwits will be hurt enough to finally wise up.

Lynn says:

We knew it would be a joke when we first heard about it. You can’t trust the government to do anything right. Plus, in our state, even if you did get the reduced car price, you are still taxed on the “original” price of the car. So if the car was 20k and you got it for 12,500, you still get taxed on 20k! What good does it do you to buy a car in our state? You didn’t save anything!

Nothing like the fate of this country resting in the hands of rank amateurs. The career politicos are bad enough but Campaign and Community Organizers in charge of the greatest country on the planet!?
BOHICA!!!

Rhod pretty much stole some of my wind. A friend of mine is in the brake and muffler business and just doubled the size of his shop to add auto repair. He says this program could not have come at a worst time for him. His businesses rely on clunkers. He also restores classic cars and wonders how many of those were turned in and their parts gone forever. And, as a taxpayer, he helps pay for the destruction of what he needs.
Government interference into private enterprise is always somewhere between inconvienent and disasterous. obama’s is going to be the champion administration at interference, maybe even besting FDR.

Bob A says:

I saw somewhere that Obama was the best President since FDR. I believe he is the best like FDR. Heaven help us. No keep speaking out against this moronic lunacy being foisted upon us by a former community agitator.

Mark says:

Clunkers all right. On Beck yesterday, they had on two good sized Dealers, from New Jersey, one guy was owed by the Government 130,000 dollars and has been paid for 3 cars, the other dealer, the government is in to him for over a Million he too has received payments for 3 cars.
For each clumker they buy, is out of their own pocket, until they are reimbursed by Gov. They must submit paperwork on the vehicle. That paper work must be perfect otherwise is it sent back as incomplete. If the paperwork is sent back with multiple mistakes, there is a good chance they won’t get reimbursed. Both of these dealers have hire full time staffs to handle the paperwork, even with that they are their paperwork rejected by the Government.
A behemouth, bungling bureaucratic nightmare and this was a program for a mere 2 Billion dollars. The money is all gone. These two dealers are now sweating bullets, wondering if they will be paid at all.
