Senate group omitting Dem health goals
AP
After weeks of secretive talks, a bipartisan group in the Senate edged closer Monday to a health care compromise that omits a requirement for businesses to offer coverage to their workers and lacks a government insurance option that President Barack Obama favors, according to numerous officials.
Like bills drafted by Democrats, the proposal under discussion by six members on the Senate Finance Committee would bar insurance companies from denying coverage to any applicant. Nor could insurers charge higher premiums on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions.
The effort received a boost during the day from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, normally a close ally of Republicans. In a letter to committee leaders, the business group called for the panel to “act promptly, preferably before” the Senate’s scheduled vacation at the end of next week. In doing so, the business organization dealt a blow to the Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and other GOP lawmakers who have called repeatedly for Democrats to slow down.
In yet another boost for the drive to enact legislation, PhRMA, which represents drug companies, has purchased more than $500,000 worth of television ads to air during the week in nine states.
Wild Thing’s comment……
Rush was talking about this yesterday and he said they will just add it in later and I think so too. I don’t even trust them to take it out at all actually. With hardly any democrats reading the bill and only some Republicans how the heck will they know if it is taken out. They won’t.
I want No government health care period. Get the government out of it. This is all BS, once the pass this turkey we are screwed. I wish and pray the Republicans would STOP saying our country needs any kind of government health care at all. Cut the head off of this bill and any bill about this. The Republicans need to learn it is not just about going against Obama and the dems it is about NOT wanting this at all from either party.

It’s pay for play, if you belong to the party they look after you, if not it’s the ash heap. We saw that on the grand stage from the Grand Old Party, look at how Palin surged McCain’s flagging ratings and how she was treated for her efforts. I want to see the Barney Frank’s hanging like Mussolini from the light posts!!! No to Socialized medicine and to Communism!!!
Barack Obama will never say to your face what he actually plans to do -or achieve- with these huge new government programs. Everything’s rolled-out in a trojan horse, and you’re not allowed to look inside or ask any questions. Suffice to say, good-faith disclosure is not how this crew operates.
Rather, you get “soaring rhetoric” with styrofoam props to wow the plebes, like the tacky greek columns in Denver. To him, the revolutionary ends justify the Alinskyite means- so the Dear Leader just tells you whatever he needs to.
And the truth is that Obama is out to nationalize health care.. they’ll be no private insurance industry left after five years of Obamacare- but of course he’s lying about it. And this bill is a P-I-G pig… small wonder then that anyone with a brain that is facing an election next year is running for the hills on this one.
As for the American public, the reality that Obama is not up to the job seems to finally be setting-in; the poll numbers are now headed steadily south- is he already facing his Waterloo on this legislation?
Looks like it from where I’m standing… and it would do the country a lot of good to have this arrogant montebank knocked-down a peg or two at this point, because Obama/Pelosi/Reid are completely out-of-control.
