Sarah Palin may be shopping a book
The former GOP vice presidential candidate is reportedly working with Robert Barnett, who brokered deals for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Some reports say she is seeking as much as $11 million.
Los Angeles Times
Palin has reportedly enlisted the services of Robert Barnett, the Washington lawyer who represented President Obama, would-be President Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Bill Clinton in their multimillion-dollar book deals.
Barnett declined to comment. But a variety of published sources, including the Hollywood Reporter, said that Barnett was on board in helping to sell a Palin book.
Presumably, the book would tell her side of the 2008 presidential election, when the GOP nominee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, plucked Palin out of relative obscurity and offered her the vice presidential spot. Though she was a darling of conservatives and ignited the Republican base whenever she appeared in public, Palin has made it known that she had a difficult time with McCain’s strategists.
Throughout the campaign, Palin was kept under wraps by staff, and her appearances were carefully orchestrated in the failed hope of protecting her from ridicule. Frequently when she did engage the media, she appeared ill prepared at best and hopelessly naive at worst. Her comments on Russia and politics were a steady diet for late-night comedians.
During the campaign, there were charges that Palin tried to censor books at the Wasilla, Alaska, library when she was mayor of that community. Though the reports turned out to be overblown (she did ask the librarian about removing some books and then dismissed her along with other officials), the ink stuck to her, helping with conservatives and hurting with other voters.
Still, for many on the right, keeping Palin on a tight leash was one of the campaign’s significant failures. The GOP ticket was ahead in some polls going into September, when the economy tanked and McCain’s drive to White House faltered.
The economy could also be a factor in how much Palin, whose family is not wealthy, could earn from any book. In recent months, reports of her wanting as much as $11 million for her memoirs have surfaced, though she could get far less. Former First Lady Laura Bush just sold her memoirs for less than $2 million.
But there is more than money at stake. Palin has been trying to stay in the spotlight, presumably with an eye on 2012, and a book could help as well as giving her some sort of a base beyond Alaska.
Wild Thing’s comment…….
I hope she gets a sweet deal. More then the lefties ever got and lines will form at book stores, and I bet it will go #1 very fast! Take that, President Milli Vanilli.
Three cheers for Sarah!!!
I believe Sarah and Governor Jindal from Louisiana are our hope for the future right now. Certainly not any of the folks we have in congress right now.
“President Milli Vanilla” – I love it!
Can you imagine the reviews her book will get from the PDS media? Which would make her book sales success even more sweeter.
Any truth to the rumor that PLAYBOY offered Sarah $1 million to pose in their magazine, and that Michelle Obama was offered $2 million to pose…in National Geographic? Good GOD is Sarah one beautiful HOCKEY mom! – “Shoots and scores 2012!”
That’s great! She really deserves a sweet deal. She’s so real and her compassion is spot on.
I’m thinking Prescott Bush (Jeb’s son) and Track Palin ought to get together some time in the future for a run. Prescott should bring the hispanics back-he is half hispanic. Wouldn’t that be just the ticket.
I’ll go against the grain here and say I don’t like the idea of a book deal. It sounds too much like profiteering and anything written down could come back to haunt her. I know everybody who gets their 15 minutes of fame writes a book, but too often that’s a sign of egotism which I don’t want to see in Sarah Palin. One of her main selling points was that she is so much like most of Middle America, humble and honest, and not a professional politician with unbridled ambition.
The one who needs a leash is tha one
stuck on himself an running with a pack of
wolves!
President Milli Vanilli!! Fantastic!
I would love to read that book. I find that whole family fascinating and I’d love to get the inside on that campaign. It seems that the greatest political figures are also the most controversial. I love how the left seethes. I personally know one and this gal drives me nutty. She Hates her but can’t come up with a clear reason why. Of course I tell her why and then I get the old you right wing Rush Limbaugh listening redneck answer. LOL!!
She’s writing a book. Good. I’ll buy.
Went to the Hardware store this morning, and the owner had his dog there, a pure bread ‘Husky’, What a beautiful dog. He was spoiled rotten, of course but they are just great dogs.
Maybe when she becomes President,. they can have an Iditarod down here.
The Obama Kool-Aid drinkers are, and will continue, mainlining on BDS and PDS coupled with their intolerance of anyone who does not blindly worship “The One”. So, any book by Sarah Palin will suffer their continued wrath as the truth and conservatism that she writes will expose them for their ignorance, stupidity, gullibility, and hate-filled campaign tactics. The more that these Dems and Socialists complain the higher the sales for Gov. Palin’s book.
Go Sarah!
The media is seemingly spinning this like she’s greedy or something. Hardly, if the publishers want it bad enough, they’ll pay…supply and demand is beautiful.
James M., yes and I wish I could remember the names of a few others, Mike Pence is one and hmmmm let’s see. They should not be so hard to remember and that shows they are not standing out that much.
We need to have a huge list of those that stand for conservatives. waaaa
Yankeemom, heh heh thank you.
Yes the left will really go after her, but she knows that too, so I hope she will be ready for that as well.
Darth, LMAO so funny.
Lynn I read someplace, can’t remember that she can use the money for her future campaign too. Something like that, I might have read it wrong not positive.
Tom, you make some good points about this.
I wish I had saved the article I saw that talked about that she might be thinking of using the money for her future campaign.
One thing for sure she has got to keep it totally honest and fact checked so no one can point something out as untrue. No exagerating, keep it simple and sweet just like she is, real and honest. If she does she might be ok.
The only thing that concerns me is the hate that will come back at her once it is published and maybe even before. But they are attacking her even now, I don’t think they will stop.
Chief, LOL great way to describe him.
Greg, giggle, thank you.
That is funny about the person you know that does not like Sarah. haha
I remember one time ElRushbo said if he is not being attacked from the left he is not doing his job. He said that at such a perfect time for be as right then I did not have a blog it was years ago and I was posting on a forum where daily I was called every name in the book. hahaa I used to sit here an comment and post as tears rolled down my face. hahhaa I have gotten a lot stronger since then for sure.
Mark, giggle that would be great.
Thank you for telling about the dog at the Hardware store. I love those dogs, how gorgeous they can be. I saw one once with one blue eye and one brown eye, it was so intense. Great dogs.
Les, if she does it right and I think she will. She can come of as natural and as sweet as she is but also a take no prisoner kind of maverick that she likes to be too. I think the main thing that hurt her deeply were the attacks on her family and the way the McCain camp did not stand up for her that was unforgivable.
Jenn, thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
The left is so phony. It is fine for them to make money off books or be successful in life but God forbid if a Republican does well. Sarah is not rich like so many in politics and this money unless she donates it and I heard she might do that too, but she could also use it for future campaigns or something.
PS Wild Thing: I’ll buy her book if there’s just ONE bathing suit picture in it… Just one. Or how about a Nj Devils hockey jersey with leather hockey gloves and red leggings… Time to ICE MYSELF in the cold shower! All the best to TB Lightning coach Rick Tocchet and I miss your BUCS coach John Gruden a lot already. Super Bowl #43 must have ya’ll jumping. CARDS with the upset!
