One Of The Many Faces Of Chicago’s Political Corruption

One of the many faces of Chicago’s political corruption

The Patriot Post

“Is there any system of governance or economics that can withstand rampant corruption or self-entitlement? … Has the astounding success of American capitalism spawned people who consider themselves completely removed from the ethical guidelines that govern mere mortals? Has the wholesale abandonment of religion for secularism produced a moral vacuum? … No system can survive when its prime movers and shakers are fundamentally corrupt — most especially when they don’t consider themselves to be so.” –columnist Arnold Ahlert

“So, do the rest of you now have some idea of the depth of corruption in Chicago and Illinois, and why some of us were so concerned about electing a president who emerges from this cesspool? … Brazen, appalling, unbelievable, they say. But for those of us who have spent a lifetime covering the news here, it’s how it works.” –Chicago columnist Dennis Byrne

“Reality check: The chances of House Democrats opening an ethics investigation into either [the junior Jesse] Jackson’s or [Rahm] Emanuel’s involvement [in the “Blago” scandal] is exactly zero. Ethics. Democrats. Say that three times fast.” –columnist Rich Galen

“The automakers’ contention that they pay workers $73 an hour takes into account the cost of pensions and health insurance for retirees. Still, no one disputes that Detroit’s unionized active workers cost a good $10 an hour more than the nonunionized work forces that build Toyotas, Hondas and BMW’s in the largely nonunionized South.” –columnist William Murchison

“[Illinois Gov. Rod] Blagojevich allegedly assumed someone would be willing to pay dearly to be a U.S. senator. I’m sure he was right. But if government were less important in our lives, politicians would have fewer goodies to trade. In return, we’d have more money and more freedom. That’s one more reason to limit government power.” –ABC News’ “20/20” anchor John Stossel

“It looks as if we are going to have to relive all of the mistakes of the 20th century one more time — let’s hope it is one last time — before we relearn the big lesson of that century: the moral and material superiority of capitalism and the disastrous consequences of socialism in all its forms.” –columnist Robert Tracinski

Wild Thing’s comment…….
Some excellent quotes about the corruption that really is not only in Chicago but also in Washington D.C.

….Thank you Mark for sending this to me.

Steve Gaston, USMC says:

I am soooooooo sick of hearing about this numb-nut and seeing his picture. GGGgggrrrrrrrrr!!!!

yankeemom says:

… No system can survive when its prime movers and shakers are fundamentally corrupt — most especially when they don’t consider themselves to be so.”
That’s the part that gets me the most. They stand up there spewing forth about ethics and morality and they prove time and time again they don’t know the first thing about it.
and what’s really sad is the ones that are supposed to be watching are just as corrupt.

Eden says:

It’s as if they were reading my mind. Its so frustrating to watch the country become both financially and morally bankrupt…but that’s been going down the hole for awhile now. First step was dumbing down of children by rewriting the history books wtih opinion instead of fact.
Lots of talk last few days again about the FBI and the Resko land deal with Obama (and Rod’s wife was the realtor in the deal), with Resko’s sentencing being delayed indefinitely.
Obama’s real estate follies didn’t start there. His first home in Chicago with Michelle, a $400k plus condo, was financed through the bank owned by our current state treasurer’s family. Guess who pushed him in his electoral race? Obama. Payback for a sweetheart deal on his mortgage. Gianoullis (sp) the treasurer, was elected when he was just 29 years old and had never even voted before.

TomR says:

Integrity and morality in government don’t improve often. It usually gets worse. I remember when I was a young college student in the 60’s and heard about corruption and graft in Louisiana and New Jersey and the Daley Machine in Chicago. Guess not much has changed in 40 years.
Sadly, the reach of government immorality has touched too much of the populace now. God has been removed from the schools and replaced with pc. That pc has proved to be as infectious as a pandemic as we now even give respect and rights to those who attack us.

Jack says:

It’s utterly disgusting the length and breadth of this corruption, like a cancer it spreads from state to state, into all their facets, the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary at both the state and the federal levels. Did I mention many of the voters too? Pardon me!!!

Mark says:

Well Blago was arrested last week and to date he has not resigned.
I just read where the speaker of the Illonois House refused passage of a special election on the empty Senate seat. The State legislature is threatening to move ahead with impeachment but there is no guarantee they can do it in time, before Blago appoints someone else to the Senate Seat. So much for what the people want. So much for honesty in Government and politicians deserving trust. I will bet this is just the tip of the ice berg.

Wild Thing says:

Steve Gaston, USMC, he is a goofy looking guy and then adding in he is a jerk and a corrupt person makes him even uglier inside and out.

Wild Thing says:

Yankeemom, I agree so much.
I bet if there was a way to clean house across our country in all the various government offices from top to bottom. There would not be enough people left to fill one McDonalds.

Wild Thing says:

Eden, amazing and wow, so much corruption.
It almost feels like it all has to hit a wall of total corruption before it can be cleaned up. I am probably wrong but just thinking sometimes that works for some things.

Les says:

Unfortunately, this is a big news story that will go nowhere. Can you imagine how this would be covered by the MSM and the public outrage of the Dems if the names involved were John McCain, Sarah Palin, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, any Republican Governor, Senator, Congressman, or any of their aides and appointees? There would be demands for special prosecutors and immediate resignations along with broad brush charges of endemic party corruption.
Where is the real public outrage at this Democratic Chicago corruption and the farce of deniability and innocence of what was going on by the virgin birth of the Chicago political machine himself — Barack Hussein Obama, community organizer extraordinaire?

Wild Thing says:

Tom, you said one time that when God was taken out of so many things it is showing up how corruption increases. I agree, like you said in your comment now too. God being taken out of things and PC being taking over.

Wild Thing says:

Jack, yesss voters too.
The voters that keep voting this corruption in are just as guilty, they keep it going instead of getting ticked and demanding a house cleaning. Maye there just aren’t enough of the good voters to overcome the bad ones, that can happen too.
Obama is like the head of the monster like in Greek mythology and the monster has all these other heads that are connected to the main one. Obama knows all these people, is connected to each one of them in some way.

Wild Thing says:

Mark I bet it is too. More and more will come out and Obama’s dots being connected to each one of these people in some way.

Wild Thing says:

Les,good cartoon of all this.
Yes if it was about Republicans they would be calling for prison.

Trish says:

Wild Thing–
I hope you also understand that there are an awful lot of us frustrated conservatives in Cook County, Illinois, who are not only having to suffer the likes of Governor Bragadoccio, but are unreasonably saddled with the blame for this turkey–even though we actively opposed him.

Wild Thing says:

Hi Trish,….”I hope you also understand that there are an awful lot of us frustrated conservatives in Cook County”…….
oh yess I sure do. I was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. Know Chicago pretty well. Actually I alwlays loved Chicago especially at Christmas time and Marshall Fields windows and their tea room and huge Christmas tree.
I wish it was different with all the corruption, but it is all over the place just extra bad in some cities more then others. I would think that Washington D.C. would be the worst with all the politicians there.
