It’s The 7th Annual National Ammo Day!

It’s National Ammo Day!
“A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”
Second Amendment

Facts:
* Number of firearms in America: 228,000,000360
* Number of firearm owning households: At least 50,600,000361
* Projected firearm owning households in America: 60-85 million
* Number of guns used in crimes: 450,000362
* Percentage of guns used in crimes: 0.09%
Over 50 million law-abiding, gun owning households committed NO crime today… but collectively, we stop 2.5 million crimes per year… 6,849 a day!
Fact: Every day, 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented just by showing a gun. In less than 0.9% of the time is the gun ever actually fired.
Keep up the good work and keep your ammo supply stocked!

John says:

It’s real simple……Guns don’t kill…..PEOPLE DO!!!!! And let’s see…0.09% are used in crimes!!! Hey…Guess what…It’s the CRIMINALS that are using guns to kill people!!!!
Obama and other stupid idiots will attempt to take away our guns so that the criminals have less to fear!!! What an intelligent decision……….NOT!!!!!!!
Hmmmm….where did I put my Jack D. and glock 40?!?!?!

TomR says:

Yes, I plan to go to my local gun store and pick up a couple more boxes of ammunition today.
Maybe a box of 7.62 for my M1A version of that M14 pictured.

yatalli says:

Now that is a very sexy picture. I love my mine. One of the greatest battle rifles of all time. Too bad that 7.62 is so expensive. Or maybe not, at least I spend more time around the house and less at the range.

yatalli says:

BTW, what is with the “360”, “361”, and “362” tagged on the end of the stats bullet points?

Mark says:

I don’t know if the M-14 was the best battle rifle or not, anyone who carried the M-1 would give you a great argument. The M1 went through two wars and was doing well until the M-14 came along.
The nice thing about the M-1 it would always tell you when it was empty…Pfling… and you knew it was empty, of course after awhile the enemy did too, and inspection Arms was alot easier with the M-1 as long as you got your thumb out of the way in time.
The M-14 actually replaced the BAR, the left-handed rifle for bassackwards marksmen., and the M-1,(but it got the job done). A fire-team always had an automatic Rifleman and the M-14 served that purpose too. But you still had to change magazines, I still think it was faster to put in a clip than screw around with the magazine, two operations instead of one.
Actually I didn’t know it was national Ammo day, I need some .45 ammo anyway.

Les says:

We now know the difference between what Barack Obama says about guns and actually thinks when forced to make decisions. Obama chooses Gregory Craig to be his White House Counsel. Greg Craig helped John Hinkley, Ronald Reagan’s gun shooting would-be assassin, to get a cushy mental health dispensation leading to weekend visits with his parent’s. Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens is bad, but guns in the hands of a would be assassin of a Republican and conservative President is good.
How would Michelle Obama and all the Kool-Aid drinkers feel about a lawyer who defended a would be assassin of Barack Obama who used a gun or any other weapon in the crime? How disrespectful and insulting it is to the country of Obama to appoint Greg Craig defender of a would be assassin of a President to be White House Counsel.
Barack Obama is a low life one step below pond scum.

Wild Thing says:

John, LOL….”where did I put my Jack D. and glock 40?!?!?!”…….
Yes John, this sure is the mindest of the likes of Obama and his ilk for sure.
“Obama and other stupid idiots will attempt to take away our guns so that the criminals have less to fear!!! What an intelligent decision……….NOT!!!!!!!”………

Wild Thing says:

Tom, that is so cool that you have that.

Wild Thing says:

yatalli, haha, I saw this photo at one my friends on MySpace and thought it was so perfect for today.
“BTW, what is with the “360”, “361”, and “362” tagged on the end of the stats bullet points?”…..
I have no idea.haha

Wild Thing says:

Mark, I wouldn’t have known either since they don’t have it on any calender in our house. hahaa
I got an email from the website that let me know. I keep forgetting what month they have national Ammo day.

Wild Thing says:

Les, thank you sooo much for telling about Gregory Craig. I didn’t know that and if I did back then I sure forgot about it. Thank you.
What a horrible person he is.

cuchieddie says:

Hi Mark, I was weaned on an M-14 and loved it. A bit heavy but reliable and accurate as hell. When they switched to M-16’s I was totally pissed. We received the early versions and they were terrible. Switched to a .45 and Savage 12 gauge pump with flechette rounds for nailing (literally) nailing bad guys to trees.
