Last night at 2 a.m. we also had our first snow flakes of the Yuletide Chritmastime season! My GIANTS needed that game against the Bears real badly WT. Eli has to do it again in Filthadelphia on Sunday!
What kind of a thread is this SNOW ??? I have had a lifetime of Snow. I hate snow, I am from Buffalo and snow is not fun.
Buffalo has 3 seasons, Winter, still Winter and the warmest part, almost Winter.
But of all the Winters, the best December was a playoff game in Buffalo against the Miama Dulfins, they froze their friggin Arses off, and slid all around the field while they lost.
One thing I do remember tho, before they put the new power plant was built in the Falls, in the spring time the ice in Lake Erie would start to break up and being from Tonawanda, we would always go down to the River, Niagara river and watch thess huge Ice flows going by it lasted about two weeks it was an awe inspiring site. Now though they have an ice Bridge in Buffalo to prevent that so the intakes to the falls don’t get plugged up with ice.
The big drawback the ice stays in Buffalo, and acts as a huge air-conditioner for the city and the temperature in the city is always cold until the ice finally melts.
No thanks they can keep winter.
I like snow. We sure don’t get much in Dallas, but I enjoyed it the two years I lived in Denver. My first year there, 1983, was a record breaker. I still managed to get around in the white stuff. The cold wind was the worst part though. The next year was an average Colorado winter and it was very pleasant. That dry air at high altitude meant that it was comfortable wearing a short sleeve shirt in 40 degree weather. Some skiers wear bathing suits. I’m not that courageous, but that powdery snow is nice.
I just got to say to all of you that live in these wonderful places, San Diego and Dallas. It must be really great to drive to the Mountains and ski or snowboard, then return home to where there is no snow and the weather is a balmy 65 – 70 degrees.
Sure it is easy to say Let it snow when you don’t have to deal with it for 6 and a half to 7 months out of the year on a daily basis where the temperature never reaches double digits for almost a month or so. Oh then there are the ice storms where cars have sometimes 3/4 of an inch of ice on them and thats the whole car or the wheels are frozen in the ice,. I kid you not. I have seen people twist their drive shaft into pretzels trying to free a car that was frozen into the ice, this is on the street.
Or you can’t get into your dirveway becasue while you were at work it snowed 4 feet in 8 hours and snow drifts up to the roof.
Yeah let it snow, my A$$.
Somebody is a bah humbug!
Actually you have no idea about me, I grew up in a snow belt area. Oh what fun it is to ride in a winter wonderland! Break that axle, get lost in a snow bank!
I’m content to drive to it, had enough cold and snow to last two lifetimes. It Snowed yesterday, then rained all afternoon and all night, flooding is a problem, part of my drive way is in the county road. The state highway to my place is closed at the far end, washed out again. Still I don’t want any more Arctic weather, like that at Deadhorse AK.
Tom thank you for sharing about your living in Denver. I was planning to move to Denver and one month before I was to move there I met Nick and my plans changed. giggle Love does that.
He can’t live in a cold climate because of his lungs not being good. So we need to live in places that are less drastic in the winter months. He is very healthy, he just has weak lungs and his colds if he gets one last a couple of months.
Jack, brrrr that is bitter cold I see at that link.
I hope you have a mild winter where you live, and that your road closed from the rain is open soon.
Mark, ….”What kind of a thread is this SNOW ??? “…..
LOL The title of this thread is ” Christmas Music for today”.It is Bing Crosby singing “White Christmas”. I thought it might be nice to have a Christmas song every day till Christmas, you know like a different one each day kind of thing.
Mark, I am so sorry about your weather there. I wish you had real summers and spring and a slightly cooling fall and short winters. Buffalo is known for hard winters like Duluth and some other northern cities.
I followed up on your comment, thanks for stopping in!
Well, all I can say is move if you don’t like the weather!
Just think you don’t have to live in snow….go scuba diving, drive up to the Mnts and ski in the same day! But wait till they clear the roads, throw on some chains and bam instant fun! Shred it!
Bring on the seasons greetings Chrissie!
I did move, but I also have commitments to family and spouse. And that makes it sort of impossible to move, now doesn’t it.
Oh and by the way how do you get lost in a snow bank. ??? It is obvious from your post you have never lived in an area that has real winters.
But being from California that is understandable too. Sandy Eggo, ???

I’ve got a photo shot up of snow in the Local Mnts in SD county. I used to ski and snowboard up in San Berdo, Mammoth Mnt. Let it snow!
