This doesn’t even address those with ‘head wounds’.
Most of us went from enlisted to PFC in under 72 hours, no decompression or counseling beyond ‘don’t talk about it’ that was the standard psychological treatment.
Those with visible wounds get the minimum and a hope ‘ya die before you need more help’ from Congress. It’s the post hospital patients that get the short end of the deal, our military hospitals do a great job, then fail the outpatient.
What these folks are doing is wonderful, Thanks SSGT Steve, TomR and especially you WT, we’d be in the dark without you.
I don’t know how well this event was covered by local media. Austin Texas is a liberally oriented town. But, as you can see, lots of people showed up at the event. This is what energizes me. That there are still so many pro-America Americans, especially when you get out of the core of the big cities.
Darth I agree, I have a real thing about how little our government has followed through and taken the best of care with our Veterans, our wounded and our troops. They should be given totally free the best there is to help in any way possible.
Jack the outpatient is thrown to the wind in many and most VA hospitals. I would hate to add up the emails I have received over the years from Vets about the VA and the horror stories. There are some that are good, but far too few and even so they are not funded to give the best top of the line things the patient needs.
Tom, that is so fantastic at how many showed up. It makes my heart feel so happy and less heavy.
I really believe there really are more Americans that care then those that don’t. I believe that in my heart. I just think they do not go out of their way to find things out, it has to be put in their face. The media could do that but doesn’t and I hate them for it.
I have taken several friends to the VA in all the places we have lived ( Calif. Nev. and now Fl.) and they never would have thought about it before. And that is nothing compared to doing the event and the help that this was in the video.
Gentlemen and Ladies, rest assured, something is being done with the brain trauma warriors. There is a new program at a few VA’s and Walter Reed that is tremendous. It is called Iraq Veterans Services. It is fantastic. I am a volunteer for it at the Dallas VA and am pleased as punch. No, they never had it for us old dudes (RVN) but times are changing. With WT’s permission, I can do a writeup on it, if anyone is interested.
