It’s a part of a documentary called “A stranger in her city” by Khadija Al-Salami.
al-Salami’s documentary follows a fabulous, spunky 13 year old girl – Najmia in Yemen. Najmia refuses to wear the veil, despite it being a social compulsion. She is laughed at, hears taunts all day. But she has a mind of her own.
This young girl has a mind of her own, to be like that in her land is dangerous. The video shows how she is well aware of the danger.
….Thank you Tom for telling me about this video.
* Thank you Billy( Billy O’Blog) for having the video at your blog.
This young lady is really something. I would like to meet her someday. That guy being interviewed at the end of the clip…judging from the lump on the side of his head I’d say someone jacked him in the jaw. (probably a woman)
It is amazing that Najmia is so open in her flaunting of islamic law. I hope she is still alive and remains alive. I have heard that there are a lot of young women and men in Iran also flaunting sharia law.
Tragic warped 7th century oppression that Najmia endures, but it pales in comparison to the barbarism of Iran and those acts of the taliban. This is only one instance, the mutilation and carnage by the islamists rages on in Rwanda and the Sudan as well as the middle east.
What a contrast in honesty and courage between this 13 year old girl, and the moronic, self absorbed, glaucomic, lilly livered lefties that poison the airwaves with their unconscienable pandering and enabling of Islamofacism.
There is more to this video, as this apparently is only the first 10 minutes of a 30 minute film. The film won an award at an Arab film festival and caught te attention of the president of Yemen. He summoned Najmia to a meeting where, believe it or not, he arranged for his government to pay for her education.
I hope his idea of an education isn’t Islamic Indoctrination.
Also, seven months after this film was made, her father forced her to wear the veil. I will try to find the remainder of this film and, if I do, I will send it your way. Also, should I run across any recent updates of her fate I will apprise you of that also. Thanks for cross posting this. It needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
Why is our media so frightened of the truth?
SSgt Steve USMC, yes she is really amazing and for such a young age.
Tom, she is very brave, and the men and women you mentioned are too. I hope they live to see their world turn around into something less violent.
Jack your right, thank you for the link.
I have read such horiffic things about Islam’s followers.
Billy, thank you so much for the update. And thank you again for having this video at your blog.
Our media is horrible and they should be the best in the world with all the freedom we have in this country to give out the news.
