Alan Keyes Wants Another Try To Be President

Keyes looks to rescue GOP, announces run for president

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
After two previous runs for U.S. president, former Reagan diplomat Alan Keyes has announced he’s again seeking the White House in the 2008 election, and he’ll take part in Monday night’s Republican presidential debate here.

Keyes told syndicated radio host Janet Parshall he’s “unmoved” by the lack of moral courage shown by the other candidates, among whom he sees no standout who articulates the “key kernel of truth that must, with courage, be presented to our people.”

He added, “The one thing I’ve always been called to do is to raise the standard … of our allegiance to God and His authority that has been the foundation stone of our nation’s life” – and he decried the lack of “forthright, clear, and clarion declaration” from the current crop of presidential contenders.

As a result, Keyes said, “We’re putting together an effort that’s not going to be like anything before, because it’s going to be entirely based on citizen action. We’re going to be challenging people to take a pledge for America’s revival,” and elevate them from spectators in the political arena to participants.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is the scene of the Values Voter Presidential Debate Monday night.
Monday’s night’s Values Voter Debate in Florida wil be held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
In addition to Keyes, Republicans participating include Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo and John Cox. Candidates who declined are Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson.
The three-hour event begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, and will be broadcast live on Sky Angel and Dish Network channel 262, and will also be streamed live on websites including ValuesVoterDebate.com and the American Family Association.

Wild Thing’s comment………
What I can I say LOL, I am sorry but really this is so silly. I am all for anyone running at least for a first time. But my gosh does it never end with Keyes?

TomR says:

I enjoy listening to Alan Keyes oratory. But his thoughts that he could ever be elected President are far-fetched.
He will add a bit to the debates though and put the other candidates on their toes. And he is still far more rational than Ron Paul.

Lynn says:

This guy reminds me of Flip Wilson.
I’m sorry–he does.
While he has the gift of gab, there is no way he’s going to win the election.
He’s trying to ride in on Thompson’s backside.
He’s drafting the semi.
He’ll be sitting on the curb with all the other candidates after we elect Thompson as our candidate.

darthcrUSAderworldtour07 says:

Alan Keyes is brilliant and I absolutely admire this Christian. In a political debate – he’s an ACE!

Mark says:

Flip Wilson, wow, I never thought of that one, … “In the booth, in the corner, in the back, in the dark” along with Gearldine. LOL.
At this point, who cares, who get in the race, it will be harder for the dems to hit so many targets.
But is Flip,…er Allan as Clean and Articulate as Hussein Obama.

TomR says:

Mark- I think in a debate that Alan Keyes would put Obama domn in no time.

Jack says:

Remember what H. Ross Perot did to the election of 1992? Yes I voted for the guy with the big ears, my mistake for picking a loser. Eight years of raping and pillaging has made me cautious, 6 years of giving away our soverignty has me wary. Sure Alan Keyes is a good man, head and shoulders above all the top tier in many ways but he lacks the full support of the GOP machine that is still focused on the New England RINO’s.
Hunter, Tancredo and Thompson are the truer conservatives but they lack true GOP support too. All Keys and Paul can do is split what few votes there are for conservatives, ensuring that a Democrat will get the oval office. Alan has to get his popularity above the 50% mark nationally to even make a dent, hell they all do, and without media support at that. Until he becomes a viable candidate he’s just another spoiler. I’m not ready to convert nor to learn Farsi or study Marx either.

TomR says:

I certainly hope that in this primary I can vote for my first choice, not the lesser of two evils. None of the top four are my first choice, but I can see the possibility coming of having to vote against one of the RNC’s top three if the polls are close, meaning I would vote for Thompson as he may be the true spoiler. I want to vote for Duncan as he is a proven Conservative and a veteran.
Damn this system, damn the RNC, damn the lesser of two evils!!

Trish says:

I don’t understand why some people are so down on Keyes. I’d vote for him in a New York minute.
Why SHOULDN’T he keep running if he has something to offer? Remember how many years it took his former boss to be elected? No, he is NOT a “spoiler”. He is nothing like H. Ross Perot. Perot ran for the express purpose of revitalizing the Democrats. He succeeded, at least temporarily.
Why shouldn’t there be many choices? If we who are conservatives want to win, we’re going to have to win over the RINOs, not merely run roughshod over them. As far as I’m concerned, the more points of view that are presented, the better. I certainly would hate to be stuck with Duncan Hunter. I lived in California, and I know that he has too much baggage. The Democrats would eat him alive, even if he were capable of being an effective president, which in my opinion he is not.
Just some things to think about.

Mark says:

I read somewhere that Sam Nunn of Ga. was considering running as an Independant third party. He is a conservative Democrat but this would be another H. Ross Perot and whatever candidate we have would be hurt by this.
We have a two party system and that’s it. I don’t see it changing any time soon. I have even heard that Newt is going to get into the race.
It seems like all these people have all this extra money to spend on a political race. But most are one issue candidates and that is going to hurt them in the end. Either Abortion or Immigration and one issue will not win the election.

Wild Thing says:

Tom I agree he is a good speaker and your right Ron Paul.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, hahaha he does, yep.
I agree there is no way he will ever win the nomination to be President.

Wild Thing says:

Darth, yes he isall that you said.
He won’t win in the end, but he is good in the debates.

Wild Thing says:

Mark,I agree, the more the merrier and it will just confuse the dems. haha

Wild Thing says:

Jack you summed it up, thank you. That is true, the conservatives in our own party are up against the rino’s in our party. whew what a mess.

Wild Thing says:

Tom, every word you just said about this next election and not voting for the lesser of two evils I agree with so much.

Wild Thing says:

Trish I understand completely, I think you misread my comment for my post above.
I am all for as many running as want to. I don’t mind at all and I think it is healthy to have a huge selection if possible. I have always been for a good competition and this will keep them on their toes with Keyes in it now.
Keyes is a descent man, a Christian and an excellent speaker. That has never been attacked on here by anyone.
My only question is or was since he has run before more several times…….. I have to wonder how many times he is going to keep trying.

Wild Thing says:

Mark thanks, I had not heard about the two you mentioned. I agree they need more then a couple of things to run on to win.

LindaSoG says:

Alan Keyes is a professional candidate and a professional loser.
He alienated a lot of people across the political spectrum with his talk of reparations.
The only thing he has accomplished on the campaign trail is to collect a lot of money and he left behind a pile of unpaid debt.
I am sure that is exactly what he will accomplish during this campaign.
