US Hits Back After Putin Tirade

President Vladimir Putin speaking at the Conference on Security Policy in Munich

US Hits Back After Putin Tirade
By Adrian Blomfield in Moscow
The United States and Russia were locked in a bitter war of words yesterday as officials reacted furiously to a speech by Vladimir Putin that represented the most ferocious attack on US policy by a Russian leader since the Cold War.

Although Mr Gates sought to cool some of the angry rhetoric flying between the two former Cold War adversaries by describing Russia as a “partner”, he added: “We wonder too about some Russian policies that seem to work against international stability such as its arms transfers and its temptation to use energy resources for political coercion.”

The comments, echoed by officials across the US political spectrum, came a day after astonished delegates listened to an unprecedented tirade from the Russian leader that was at times reminiscent of Nikita Khrushchev’s shoe-banging rhetoric.

Reflecting the growing chill in relations between the two countries, Mr Putin accused the United States of trying to subjugate the world and termed its policy in the Middle East as “unilateral and frequently illegitimate.”

“Today we are witnessing an almost uncontained hyper-use of military force in international relations that is plunging the world into an abyss of permanent conflict,” he said.

“The United States has overstepped its national borders in every way. This is extremely dangerous. It results in the fact that no-one feels safe because no-one can feel that international law is like a stone wall that can protect them.”

While many of the assembled European politicians may have secretly agreed with Mr Putin’s feelings on America’s invasion of Iraq, fear of Russia’s democratic trajectory and growing energy might united delegates in condemnation of the speech.
Mr Gates, a former CIA officer, tried to put Mr Putin’s comments down to the Russian president’s KGB background.

“I guess old spies have a habit of blunt speaking,” he said. “However I’ve been to re-education camp,” — a jibe that won approving laughter and applause from the audience. “One Cold War was quite enough.”

But western diplomats argued yesterday that Mr Putin’s speech reflected as much weakness as it did strength.
Russia’s military hardware is largely rusting and, even though the Kremlin may be trying to develop new missiles, it has lost the nuclear race.

“Putin’s speech was in part impotent rage,” said a Western diplomat. “He’s a strong believer that the Cold War principle of Mutually Assured Destruction made the world a safer place.” “When he railed against a unipolar world, he was essentially acknowledging that for the first time in 50 years the United States has reached nuclear primacy.”

Wild Thing’s comment……
What did Putin run out of spies to poison?
Putin sounds like he is a member in good standing with the Democrat party and their same talking points. They’ve opened up weakness in the superpower…any other competing power is naturally going to take whatever advantage is there to take when the dominant power has a crisis of confidence, division or disruption. The Democrats, in their obsession for power and control, have given that to both our enemies and our competitors. So Putin takes advantage of it and tries to enhance it by jumping on. We should expect that, everyone’s going to have at us…that’s why the Democrats are so damned destructive to US.
It’s classic: The Democrats would rather rule in hell than serve in heaven.

TomR says:

Putin is a Communist, through and through. I fell for the “reformed” Putin when Bush promoted him as an American ally during a press conference at the Crawford ranch. I have to wonder if the Bush Administration is so incompetent they did not realize Putin is anti-American, or if Bush was plain lying to America.
It only took a short while for me to see the light and get back to my original gut feeling about Comrade Putin. I hope the Russian people replace KGB Putin soon. They have plenty of pro Westerners to put into office and change the tide. If they don’t all get mysterious and fatal food poisoning.

Rhod says:

Russia’s GDP is $1.7 Trillion, about the size of Italy’s. The country is in a freefall to irrelevance. Without nukes, the country would be Third World Plus.

BobF says:

Putin knows he has a strong ally in Teddy Kennedy. With the Democrats gaining in political power, he’ll have more influence on American Policy.

United Anti-American Coalition (UAAC) says:

Putin is not a communist, if so then he should have turned Russia into a communist state right after he took power. My suggestion is to abandon your delusions and start to think more realistic; Mr. Putin simply expressed his concern over the growing threat posed by America’s policy of excessive use of military force in dealing with international affairs.
It is true that nobody feels secure anymore as they can no longer seek protection from the international community; America simply steps in and executes their policy of violence and genocide which is absolutely wrong and runs counter productive to international efforts in promoting regional security and stability.
I’m starting to learn how your media attempts to control your thoughts by making you believe that your country has superior enough defense capabilities to neutralize any potential missile attacks on your soil, as speculated by your incompetent so-called diplomats. Mikhail Gorbachev should have ordered the strategic missile forces to aim and launch all their missiles towards U.S.A. before demolishing the USSR, that would have been a glorious event! With the two superpowers destroyed the world should have been a safer place to live, as if I care for the casualties of both sides, It goes the same to my support towards muslim extremists that seeks to kill each one of you, I do not care how many of them are killed, what is important is that they serve the same agenda that we have in common, the destruction of the United States. And the good part is that I do not have to do anything, they simply do the dirty work for us sympathizers, your soldiers are murdered and we enjoy watching them being slaughtered while within the comforts of our place.

TomR says:

Lord Analcyst – sounds like you should live in Somalia. You would hate it, but it is your kind of place.
Putin is a Communist!

Mark says:

Lord Anal Cyst, I like that TomR. it is fitting for someone so bereft of any semblence of pride in self or country.
Punks like Anal-cyst don’t bother me because I know our Military will take him and the rest of his low life friends out, like yesterdays garbage.
I just related a story on another blog about the first time I came back home after a Cruise, The Navy goes to work at Sea, but Marines take cruises. It was a 6 month Med-Cruise, called Med 1-64, we had been gone what seemed, to me, an eternity, but after the final two weeks at sea we were finally near CONUS, everybody was on deck even the Sailors that didn’t have a watch, the first thing I remember seeing was a Flag sticking out of the water, it was strange because that is all you could see at first, the closer we got the taller the flag and pole got until you could see a tiny strip of land. The ship was barely moving, just a crawl, but the land kept getting bigger and bigger, and I got this feeling of pride when finally realizing that this is what it is all about, it was awesome to see the land coming up out of the sea as it did, I made many cruises and a trip across the pond to RVN and each time I returned I was as awestruck as ever, as many times as I did leave the country, the Thrill of coming home to the United States of America was always a thrill, it was,.’Oh God we are finally home we are safe, we made it, we did our job’, it was thrilling and the feeling of pride was always the same. God it was Awesome.
This feeling, Anal-cyst will never know, and to think he or any dirtbag like him or the Islamofascist think even for one moment that they are going to take this land, our country from us… I don’t think so.

Jack says:

Gates spoke the truth about Putin in a refreshing display of honesty when he correctly identified Russia as a potential threat, telling a U.S. House of Representatives committee meeting last week: “We don’t know what’s going to develop in places like Russia and China, in North Korea, in Iran and elsewhere.”
Who supplied and is still supplying arms, ammunition and explosive materials to Iran along with nuclear technology and nuclear material? Vladimir Putin!!! Yes, Putin is a Communist Lord Anal Fester!!!
Who served as director of the CIA from Jan. 30, 1976 to Jan. 30, 1977? In 1980 who labeled president Reagan’s tax cut plans as “Voodoo Economics” ? When the Iran-Contra Affair broke in 1986, which vice president and former CIA director stated that he had been “out of the loop” and unaware of the Iran initiatives related to arms trading? Leading up to the first Gulf War, on September 11, 1990, which president addressed a joint session of Congress and stated: “Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective — a New World Order — can emerge: a new era”?
On February 22, 1991 after a decisive battle, Iraq agreed to a Soviet-proposed cease-fire agreement. The agreement called for Iraq to withdraw troops to pre-invasion positions within three weeks following a total cease-fire, and called for monitoring of the cease-fire and withdrawal to be overseen by the UN Security Council. The US rejected the proposal but said that retreating Iraqi forces would not be attacked, and gave twenty-four hours for Iraq to begin withdrawing forces. On March 10, 1991, Operation Desert Storm began to move 540,000 American troops out of the Persian Gulf, Saddam went free to ignore the cease fire treaty.
Who was that president who didn’t know what the CIA was up to, who was that president who halted the battle prior to evicting Saddam Hussein at the Soviets(Russian) request, none other than Bill Clinton’s bestest buddy George H.W. Bush.
Who had to finish the unfinished battle abandoned by dear old dad? George W. Bush, are his ideals any different than his fathers? Deep down no, he was caught flat footed by an islamist attack due in part to his father’s acceding to Russia’s will and the feckless United Nations in his one world order scheme. George W Bush has had to put his plans on hold and defend the nation against that which his father couldn’t and wouldn’t. I have loyally defended both Bush presidencies, the former one under the premise that Russia had changed and we could finally get away from the ravages of a war economy, it has not.
I have faithfully supported this presidency under the premise that he would close the borders, strengthen our military that was stripped under Clinton and directly protect the nation, instead we are embroiled in building democracy’s amongst heathens that have for 1400 years fought and killed one another over the whims of a murdering pedophile false prophet.
When GHW Bush lied about any knowledge of the Iran Contra affair, sacrificeing a damned good Marine, Oliver North, in the process to save his ass I lost all respect for him. As a result I and many like me voted for that phoney Texan Ross Perot, we got Clinton instead. George W. Bush and his stubborn anti-illegal immigration stance has turned me off, he seems to still have his eye on that one world order regardless of homeland defense. Now that Gates has put the true image of Putin to the public will George defend his hand picked secretary of defense? Or will he equivocate, bend over and kiss Putin’s ass?
Mark, I felt the same way when I landed at McCord AFB and kissed the tarmack of my mother land in 1969.
Semper Fidelis
No More Bush’s!!!

Mark says:

You are ‘spot on’ Jack, how can Bush wage an effective war on terror, without first securing the borders.
I have supported this war because I believe if we don’t fight them over there they will soon be over here. And we will have a new enemy to treat with.
As I said above, Anal cyst don’t scare me it is the Cindy shitbag types, she has made a deal out of her son’s death, yet he doesn’t even have a marker or Flag on his grave yet. These are the people who are the ugliest, most vile and detestable, the ones who already live here and take for granted the freedoms her own son died for. She and her type are the most contemptable.

Wild Thing says:

Tom, me too. I remember watching Putin at Bush’s ranch and feeling like well ok give him a chance. It looks like he wants to do the right thing.
Times have proven otherwise.

Wild Thing says:

Rhod your right thanks.

Wild Thing says:

Bob, yes he will have the ear of the left in our country for sure.

Wild Thing says:

Lord Antagonist you are nothing but a fly on the wall. SPLAT
If you hate America so much you should stay away from American blogs and especially those that are pro military like this one. Your opinions are like shitting in the wind, they will come right back into your ugly face. You have no idea, not even a clue at the power our military has.

Wild Thing says:

Mark exactly, they can mouth off all they want and it means nothing.
I love what you wrote Mark, thank you so much. What a great way to put it and goosebumps reading it and the thrill like you said that lord person will never know that feeling in a gazillion lifetimes. Thank you!

Wild Thing says:

Jack, thank you so much. I hope Bush will back up Gates, he needs to for so many reasons.

Rhod says:

Lord Antagonist is back? The UAAC? Hahahahahahahahahaha….It consists of one mother-fixated, frustrated wanker with a hammer and sickle fetish, and an erotic picture of Putin on the bathroom wall.
LA, come on back, you pimple-faced perv! We need to discuss your difficulties.

Rhod says:

PS to WT:
Thanks for letting Antagonist (Anal-cyst! Hahahahahahaa…I do need a laugh) through the door.
I re-read his post, and the cheesehead is clearly a psycho off his state meds. He’s inept at the English language, so he probably came to the US on some refugee issue, is probably a Muslim and the “comforts of our place” means the apartment of his mother, her six boyfriends, two sheep, LA, and a TV with rabbit ears.
LA, please come back. This is too much fun.

It’s tough losing your status as a superpower. Putin needs to review the Cold War era. Maybe a little trip down Stalin lane too. But then with Gee Dubya playing cowboy with Axis of Evil he may just be doing a copy cat; how Bidenish.

raz0r says:

Putin has superpower envy. So does most of Europe, hence the EU.

Rhod says:

Putin is a tenth-rate punk, Stanford. Russia is a country of 140 million, in steep demographic and political decline and under serious border pressures in the East. Health issues are out of control, drug use and alcoholism rampant, and current infrastructure failing and projected improvements stalled. Last year fully 40% of military enlistees were considered mentally disturbed or intellectually incompetent for the RUSSIAN ARMY. That’s some kind of a record. Incompetent for the Russian Army!
Putin’s reaction is typical nationalist Russian. When in trouble, consolidate power at the center and lapse into statism. He’s in the process of quasi-nationalization of the oil and gas industries, with the result that oil deliveries and explorations are off 75% from their levels three years ago. They can’t help themselves.
Foreign exploration companies are being pushed out with a variety of oppressive red tape measures and limitations.
The last time the moron Lord Whathefug was here, he was praising Putin and Russian society. We gave the dimwit the facts, and now he’s back claiming he doesn’t care what happens to Russia as long as the US goes down. If I didn’t know better, I’d suspect that Whathefug was a Russian Army reject. Instead he’s just an idiot.

Wild Thing says:

Rhod, ROTFLMAO, I was surprised when he showed up. And what the heck? UAAC hahahaha

Wild Thing says:

Stanford now that gives me an idea. Can we please send Biden over to Russia? haha

Nick Byram says:

Are we sure “LordAntagonist” isn’t a parody? The fact is that it’s often hard to tell….
On some other blogs, there’s a guy who makes “arguments” much like “LordAntagonist”, but calls himself “Typical Leftist Moonbat”.

Rhod says:

Nick:
LA has been here before. The thing that distinguished him from other lefty cretins is that he seems to have the framework for an argument rather than just reflexive contempt.
He was pretty knowledgeable about Russia last time, although completely incapable of rationality on any subject. He’s just a hater. The UAAC shit is just that. His “coalition” consists of himself, his ant farm, a few action figures and an inflatable Putin.

Wild Thing says:

Hi Nick, yes like Rhod said he has been here before… this lord person. I can never tell what kind of post will set him off either.
He may be other names at other blogs not sure, I would have to know his ip address.
