Barack Obama told Americans in his Weekly Address that the kinetic military operation in Libya was the correct way to fight a war because the US has assistance from several allies unlike when Bush was in power.
“This is how the international community should work—more nations, not just the United States, bearing the responsibility and cost of upholding peace and security…”
Obama failed to mention that Bush had twice as many coalition partners in Iraq as the US has in Libya.
Wild Thing’s comment……..
Never before has the White House and our Country been so defiled.
Viet Nam was to stop Communism from taking over Asia, this Libya war (oops, not war) doesn’t even have a pretense of a national security issue for us. Vietnam could have been argued as national security…but Lybia???
Vietnam started out with the Gulf of Tonkin Resoluion that resulted from a North Vietnamese attack on some of our ships. We also had a defininte natinal security interest in not seeing that part of Asia turn communist.
The difference here is that Libya did nothing to attack us or challenge our vital interests.
Have you ever noticed Obama’s speeches when he’s talking about an ongoing issue and the actions he’s taking at the given moment he never fails to add “In the past…” or “Under the last administration…” and criticizes the Republican President or the GOP on how they had dealt with that same particular problem / issue.
When Obama first became president, he referred to mistakes made “over the past eight years”. As time went on, this became awkward, since his own track record became included in the 8-year span, while Bush’s initial time in office dropped out of consideration. At this point, Obama started talking about problems “over the past 10 years”.
Now Obama is in his third year. It’s harder to make the allusion which he wants to make — but he does so by now saying “in the past”.
As wicked and vile as Qaddafi is, he had given up his nuclear program and was in the process of dismantling his chemical/biological weapons. When he’s replaced by Islamic radicals, will they continue dismantling the chemical/biological weapons?
Bob, good point. I have to wonder too if obama and the UN already have someone in mind, of course someone none of us would want I am sure.
