Pres Trump begins news conference by condemning “horrific” chemical weapon attack in Syria as “an affront to humanity.”
Pres Trump announces US will contribute additional funds to Jordan for humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees there.
King Abdullah says he’s “delighted” with WH talks so far. Calls US ties “a strategic partnership we keep close to our hearsts.”
Abdullah calls Syrian war another failure of intl community but believes under Pres Trump’s leadership, “can unravel the situation.”
Pres Trump says Pres Obama’s “red line” warning to Syria was “a blank threat…not one of our better days as a country.”
In response to question, Pres Trump said the chemical attack in Syria “crossed a lot of lines for me.” Says “it is now my responsibility.”
