White House Officials Will Attend Michael Brown Funeral, But Couldn’t Find Time To Attend Funeral of General Killed in Afghanistan Earlier This Month
Three White House officials will attend Michael Brown’s funeral Monday on behalf of the Obama administration, an White House official told NBC News.
Assistant to the President and White House Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement Marlon Marshall and Heather Foster, an advisor to the public engagement office will be at the ceremony for the unarmed teenager who was shot dead by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer on Aug. 9, sparking days of unrest in the St. Louis suburb.
Brown’s funeral will be at 10 a.m. local time at Friendly Temple Missionary Church in St. Louis.
No one from the White House showed up for the funeral of Major General Harold Greene:
The highest ranking officer to be killed in combat since Vietnam had his funeral on Thursday. The President, Vice President and Secretary of Defense chose not to attend. To make matter’s worse the president was golfing at the time of the funeral.
Many Americans were disappointed in the lack of White House presence at this week’s funeral for the highest-ranking officer killed in combat since Vietnam.
Major General Harold Greene, the 2-star general killed in Afghanistan August 5, was laid to rest Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery, according to myfoxdc.com.
