A feisty President Barack Obama ridiculed his Republican adversaries’ plans to ease soaring gasoline prices Thursday, saying Americans would not fall for strategies that can be written on a bumper sticker.
“Some politicians always see this as a political opportunity. Only in politics do people greet bad news so enthusiastically,” he said accusing his rivals of trying to profit from high prices and the pumps.
The American Automobile Association has predicted average prices across the country could reach $4.25 a gallon by May, up from $3.61 today.
“Since it’s an election year, they’re already dusting off their three-point plans for two dollar gas. I’ll save you the suspense: Step one is drill, step two is drill, and step three is keep drilling,” he said in prepared remarks.
“We heard the same thing in 2007, when I was running for president. We hear the same thing every year. We’ve heard the same thing for thirty years.”
“Well the American people aren’t stupid. You know that’s not a plan — especially since we’re already drilling. It’s a bumper sticker. It’s not a strategy to solve our energy challenge.”
Wild Thing’s comment………
Obama I HATE YOU! He makes my blood boil!!!
This whole situation was set up, with his nixing of the Pipeline.
He is right aout the answer being driling. What he does not say is that their is a large region in the, Dakotas, primarily , that has oil that can be pumped, but the government has ordered those wells capped.
This is a politically manufactured crisis, which will no doubt end with, the knight in shining armor, Barry Soetero, riding in at the last moment, some time around September-October, to save the day.
Sadly there will be a large segment of the population, who sees this and will cast their ballot accordingly.
