Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home.
During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.
Thirteen people were killed and dozens more wounded at Fort Hood in 2009, and the number of alleged plots targeting the military has grown significantly since then. Lawmakers said there have been 33 plots against the U.S. military since Sept. 11, 2001, and 70 percent of those threats have been since mid-2009. Major Nidal Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, who is being held for the attacks, allegedly was inspired by radical U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in late September. The two men exchanged as many as 20 emails, according to U.S. officials, and Awlaki declared Hasan a hero.

Wild Thing’s comment……
Pure evil Obama!!! And his department of defense is just as bad for going along with him.

Carlos says:

Maine Republican Senator Collins is not a conservative, but she can often rise and shine.
When you’re a U.S. Senator you hear from the families of these victims and you feel compelled to rise to the occasion, unless you’re a Dem afraid to defy this administration.
This is yet one more deplorable example of how the left’s perversion of equality and environmentalism through their political correctness trumps everything.
Everything under the sun.

TomR, armed in Texas says:

Perhaps the most costly statements in American history came from George Bush. “We are not at war with islam” and “islam is a religion of peace”. Those statements set the tone for treating islam with political correctness and downgrading the level of conscious awareness that all muslims are potential terrorists. This is one case where a supposedly conservative(?compassionate?)president took a Nevil Chamberland stance.
Too bad. I like Bush the man. However I think he was a disaster as president. His father was a like disaster that led to Bill Clinton. The two Bushs were establishment Repubs, not real conservatives but big govt.globalists. We will get the same type if Romney makes it to the Oval Office. Gingrich will also be the same although his swings from left to right will be greater. One day we conservatives would be happy with Newt and the next day we would be horrified.

Carlos, I agree, like the saying goes a clock is right twice a day, kind of thing.
Thank you.

Wild Thing says:

Tom, thank you for your input about this.
