‘Darn Tooting!’ Obama Brags About HHS Reg Catholic Bishops Call Attack on Liberty
CNSNews
Bantering with the audience at a fundraiser in St. Louis yesterday, President Barack Obama bragged about a new regulation, proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services, that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has denounced as an “unprecedented attack on religious liberty.”
“Darn right!” an audience member at the fundraiser shouted as Obama described the regulation.
“Darn tooting!” Obama said back.
The proposed regulation, designed to implement part of Obamacare, will require all private health plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives — including those that cause abortions — without charging any fees or co-pay. These regulations were drawn to implement a provision in Obama’s health-care law that calls for all health-care plans to cover “preventive services.”
Combined with Obamacare’s mandate that all individuals must buy health insurance, the “preventive services” regulation would require all American Catholics to buy health care plans that pay for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortions — all of which violate Catholic moral teaching.
A “religious exemption” in the regulation is so narrowly drawn that it does not include any lay Catholics, or any Catholic hospitals, charitable organizations, or colleges or universities. Thus, many major Catholic institutions in the United States would be forced to choose between dropping health insurance coverage for their employees and students or violating the moral teachings of their own church.
In comments on the regulation submitted to HHS last month, the Catholic bishops called for the regulation to be “rescinded in its entirety” and described the proposal as “government coercion of religious people.”

Wild Thing’s comment……..
Evil , Obama is pure evil!

So we can now add Catholic universities, hospitals and hospices, and the American Conference of Catholic Bishops to this President’s growing list of villains within his low road leadership brand of continued pillory and dividing of Americans:
the oil and gas industry, coal, tobacco, wall street, corporations, bankers, the insurance industry, the millionaires and billionaires, congress, global warming skeptics, and anyone who stands up to union malfeasance and thuggery.
You’re headed back to Chicago, and very soon with all this extreme environmentalism and equality bs creed.
Darn tootin’ !

Our government is too big and needs to be cut down to size. ‘Moderate’ republicans will not do it. Tea party activists seem to be my only hope left.

I don’t remember ever having a president who relished “getting in the face” of Americans who disagree with him politically. It’s almost like he’s purposely trying to incite civil unrest.
Speaking of civil unrest. Here’s something that’s kind of scary. Both Dick Armey and Jesse Jackson are predicting civil unrest in America.

Of course Jackson’s has to do with not reelecting Obama but he also touches on the economy like Armey does.

National health care(obamacare) will be like the Commerce Clause and the EPA. These use interstate commerce and environment to get govt. into every aspect of our lives. National health care will add more and more rules/regulations to our daily lives under the auspices of what is best for our health. Creeping socialism.

Carlos says:

BobF,
The 112th Congress was elected last November.
The real civil unrest will come after January 2013 when these folk haven’t one of their own in the White House and have lost majorities in both the house and the senate.
We will have a federal government seeking to continue to provide entitlements with the huge drag and heavy weight of servicing the public debt when 40 cents of every dollar our federal government now spends is borrowed.
The great run up in profligate deficit federal spending was made in the four years 2007 to 2010 by the 110th and 111th Congresses with complicit and expanding approval of this President.

It is those two Congresses that have been so reckless and irresponsible with deficit spending in multiple trillions that they haven’t even done their job and passed a budget since April 2009 with the public debt (nearing $15 Trillion) now more than GDP.
Future appropriations by the 113th Congress may well compel austerity measures (a la Papandreou in Greece right now) and cuts on entitlements including now more than 46 million Americans conditioned to using food stamps every week and many more unsustainable public sector union pensions and still others with a created huge false sense of entitlement not receiving their public sector handouts anymore.

As a FORMER Roman Cadillac (parochial punk, altar boy, etc.) I disrespectfully tell the Catholic
Bishops up here in Blue State’ville to continue to VOTE for Democrats while hearing their confessions at Christmas and Easter in reference to same sex marriage, 51 million abortions and materialism! Catholics up here vote DEMOCRATIC 70% of the time! I have no time for liberals no matter what their religious denominations are…
