Obama Administration Approves Another 204 Health Care Waivers, Bringing the Total to 1,372
HHS (Health and Human Services ) approves 200 more new healthcare reform waivers
The Hill
The Obama administration approved 204 new waivers to Democrats’ healthcare reform law over the past month, bringing the total to 1,372.
The waivers are temporary and only apply to one provision of the law, which requires health plans to offer at least $750,000 worth of annual medical benefits before leaving patients to fend for themselves.
Still, Republicans have assailed the waivers as a sign of both favoritism and of major problems with the law.
“The fact that over 1,000 waivers have been granted is a tacit admission that the healthcare law is fundamentally flawed,” Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) said in March. Upton is one of three House committee chairmen who has used new oversight powers to investigate the annual limit waivers.
Administration officials say the law allows the Health and Human Services Department to grant the waivers to avoid disrupting the insurance market before the law overhauls the insurance system in 2014. They say the waivers are granted through a transparent process.
Wild Thing’s comment……
This socialilzed medicine will kills us and our country, We have GOT to keep up the pressure to stop this monster.
Damn you Obama and your agenda!!!
I don’t understand how you can make something the “law of the land” and then grant waivers to not follow that law? Would that be like granting waivers to grow and sell marijuana?
If there was ever a classic example of a classic Bureaucracy, this Obama Care is it.
The damn thing has barely started and already there are more exceptions, waivers, etc., than one can count.
Why the Republicans in Congress haven’t put this Bill on their front burner and kept the reality of this whole thing in front of the American people is a mystery to me.
Mr Weepy Boehner, came out early and stated that this was going to be a number one priority. Haven’t seen much evidence of that, have we?
On second thought, maybe the granting of all these waivers and exceptions is Obama’s way of making sure he has enough Republicans on his side.
Who knows? I do know this, the longer this is allowed to go unchallenged, the better chance it has of becoming a reality.
Hey, can they just give a waiver to the entire country while they’re at it?
Bob, I don’t understand it either. The amount of people that do not want this obamacare way outnumbers those that do, and no one is really listening. I want those elected to concentrate on getting rid of it.
Sean, HUGE ditto to this….“Why the Republicans in Congress haven’t put this Bill on their front burner and kept the reality of this whole thing in front of the American people is a mystery to me.”
I agree with all you said, they have yet to make it a priority.
Anonymous, great idea and I would go for that.
