Obama says economy can take hit and keep going

Refocusing on the nation’s economic struggles, President Barack Obama welcomed news Friday that the economy unexpectedly added more than 200,000 jobs last month. “We are regaining our footing,” he said.
The president spoke during a visit to a transmission plant in Indianapolis, even as the killing of Osama bin Laden continued to dominate headlines and much of the president’s time.
From Indianapolis he was to travel to Fort Campbell, Ky., to thank the Navy SEALs who stormed bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan and shot him dead, and the helicopter operators who got them there.
But first, at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, the president promoted his clean energy agenda while offering an optimistic assessment of the economy’s growth. April’s labor market report marked the third straight month in which more than 200,000 jobs were created, the best three-month hiring spree in five years and a sign of increasing confidence in the private sector.

“We’ve made this progress at a time when our economy’s been facing some serious headwinds,” the president told workers, citing high gas prices and the earthquake in Japan. “There will undoubtedly be some more challenges ahead, but the fact is that we are still making progress,” he said. “And that proves how resilient the American economy is, and how resilient the American worker is, and that we can take a hit and we can keep on going forward.”

Wild Thing’s comment……..
Easy for him to say… He’s causing the “hit”.
The unemployment rate went UP. MORE people are out of jobs. And the media is letting him get by with celebrating additional jobs as if it’s getting better. The media is on his side…they are as faithful in their Goebbel’s-style propoganda for him as if he personally signed their paychecks.
9/11 proved we could take a hit and recover.
However, what we won’t survive is a concerted effort by leftists in power, and even more, the people who put them there.

” If it is in the best interest of the political system to deny a problem, they will do so in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The more vehement the denials, the bigger the potential crisis.”—Lee Iacooca

Mark says:

I don’t know where he’s getting his numbers, but last month unemployment rose back up to 9%. His policies are stupid and not working. His plan to destroy the country are right on target. We are not allowed to drill for our own oil, where does he expect this magic bullet to come from a friggin rechargable battery. He’s living in a fantasy world if he believs this one.

BobF says:

This jerkwad keeps talking about clean and safer energy but has never said what it is. Those people who make the Allison Transmissions depend upon the internal combustion engines for their jobs. Obama just told them he wants to put them out of business.

I notice that AF One, the presidential limosine and the massive entourage of security vehicles are run on fossil fuels. Maybe obama ought to ask Hanoi Jane how well veggie powered vehicles run.
