For America’s Sake Take it Away From Democrats
by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired
Listening to, observing and reading the “uber” left cacophony about what amounts to minuscule reductions in the Federal Budget proposed by Republicans is so funny that one has to belly laugh them into derision. Actually that applies to both sides of the political divide, on the one hand Democrats for being so over-the-top in their ideological branding and Republicans for being too timid to step up and state the fact that spending priorities are always ideologically driven. The following are irrefutable axioms.
1. All legislation, no matter who sponsors it, affects at least two groups.
2. Legislation favoring one interested party inherently disfavors some other party.
3. All legislation is ideologically driven.
4. Politics, which is the public policy exercise of competing ideologies (except totalitarian states), is inherent in everything that is spoken or done.
This is amply illustrated by a number of headline quotes from those on the left (those from the right are too benign albeit profound, to be included):
• Democrat House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi said, “There is a war on women,” which is silly. If women want to have an abortion they can pay for it themselves rather than require those of us who find abortions both evil and repugnant to pay for them.
• According to MyFoxDC.com, Washington, D.C., Democrat Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton stated, “This (proposed legislation) is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians.” Given that U.S. Taxpayers fund a significant portion of the D.C. City budget with a proscription against Federal Funds being used for abortions, any abortions funded by the City inherently absorb Federal and therefore American taxpayer support. Would Holmes Norton call it robbery if she were required to personally fund abortions?
• In an article by Jeff Poor in the Daily Caller, Jessee Jackson sees the Budget battle as: “[T]his really is a Civil War fight,” “This is making the federal government dysfunctional on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. These guys will support three wars. They’ll support tax dodgers. They’ll support the wealthiest Americans getting tax breaks. They want to cut into education and health care. This is an ideological battle.” Mr. Jackson has had a “really tough” life constantly playing the race card to line his pockets at every turn.
• In a Reuters report, according to Harry Reed: “Republicans want to shut down the government because they think there’s nothing more important than keeping women from getting cancer screenings.” Of course, this too is inane since there are numerous sources by which any woman who desires cancer screening can obtain one free of charge.
One must keep in mind that these are of the same ilk who as a practical matter believe that government owns everything and that Americans are here to support their pet government programs. Their mentality is somewhat akin to the system that existed in the Soviet Union before its collapse.
One leading Democrat recently stated to the effect, that revenue (i.e. taxes) generation needs to be addressed in addition to cutting spending to get the budget and debt under control. In plain English what he meant was that Republicans should agree to raise taxes if they want to bring down the National Debt and balance the Federal Budget. His poly, if Republicans were stupid enough to fall for it, would allow him like the proverbial rooster, to mount the fence and crow that “those evil Republicans who want to take more money from the already hard pressed Middle Class.” Is there anyone so uninformed to not know that most taxpayers’ aggregate taxes amount to well over 50%. “Aggregate” taxes in this context means Federal, State and local taxes as well as excise taxes and government fees, the latter, tax by another name.
Something evil has been coming for months and will soon begin to hit full force, it is high inflation, the government’s way of eroding the value of Americans’ income in order to “spread the wealth around.” Printing money makes it available for the left’s favorite programs like funding NPR and Planned Parenthood without raising taxes but it decreases the value of individuals’ money assets. For example, take the increased cost of motor fuel which during the general election campaign Obama stated that he would have no problem with gasoline prices reaching $4.00/gallon; this increase is directly attributable to devaluation of the dollar incident to obscene inflationary spending and associated printing by Congressional Democrats and the Obama Administration. Well, he has successfully achieved that objective, with prices in many parts of the country over $4.00/gallon. His energy czar stated that U.S. fuel prices should be $10.00/gallon. Obama’s solution: “If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know,” “You might want to think about a trade-in.” Is this the “Hope and Change” that those lemmings who voted for him expected?
Idealists and others were duped into believing that Obama and his fellow-traveling fifth columnists would work to improve America; WRONG! The present National and International debacle is intentional and brought into being by Congressional Democrats and the Obama Administration. It is a clarion call for a better way, a way that leads back to Constitutional principles and liberty, not the perversion thereof and tacit slavery where all but the Chavez, Mubarak, Gadaffi, Reid, Pelosi and Obama personalities would work on the Federal Plantation.

I have made plans to prepare for the almost inevitable round of coming inflation. I remember the inflation of the late 70’s/early 80’s brought about by Jimmy Carter’s big deficit spending splurge. I also remember the high interest rates, tax rates and unemployment of those times. I believe it will be at least as bad this time.
hat tip to col.pappas, once again he is right on mark
