George Will nailed it on Sunday morning’s show This Week.
He argued that the racist NAACP tea party resolution was “Left-wing McCarthyism.”
“Precisely. There’s nothing like name-calling and a kind of left-wing McCarthyism to enable the NAACP to make a desperate lunge for its vanished relevance. You say that this episode that he’s talking about and the Vice President made a brief reference to it, is a “he said-he said” whether or not the n-word was used. It’s a he said if four television cameras monitoring that event said it didn’t happen. A talk radio host if offering up $100,000 to anyone who can produce a shred of evidence that it happened. And, $100,000 is still on the table.”
Wild Thing’s comment…….
Nope, Will is good but I would say McCarthy was right back then and is proven correct more every day this Regime is in power, the Communist and Socialist overtook this Nation, something he was trying to prevent.
Alinsky was the person Will should have mentioned instead. It’s worse than McCarthy, because there is less justification to the charge. And it’s an intentional smear done for purely political reasons.
McCarthy accused folks of being communists. And he usually had some evidence to support his argument.
These guys from the NAACP are just racist demagogues.
A decent performance by Will. But it’s telling about how out of touch he is with the cutting edge of the movement when he refers to Andrew Breitbart as “a radio talk show host”.
So many whiny Blacks. They want to blame anything and everything on racism. The NAACP is not listened to by most non Blacks anymore. It shouted wolf too many times.
My initial reaction was exactly the same as yours, Wild Thing.
I look forward to George Will’s commentaries on Sunday mornings (most of the others around that table are not even in his league),
but I thought exactly the same; he should have mentioned Saul Alinsky instead of Joseph McCarthy and made it more 2010 appropriate.
As for the former Marine Captain, country lawyer, Circuit Judge, and two term senator from Wisconsin, that died far too young at age 48, I’ve always felt he’s been given a worse rap over the years than he deserved.
Were there some black listed that shouldn’t have been ?
Yes,
But with patriots the likes of Joseph Raymond McCarthy, Roy Marcus Cohn, and J. Edgar Hoover representing us in Washington as well they did, we were a better and safer America for it, and there are lessons more good than bad to be learned from their government service.
Just thought I’d write, Wild Thing. Love that Florida cracker image above.
George Will is a RINO, a pseudo Republican and a quasi intelltual and a wannbe part of the ruling class, basically, George Will is a super world class pompous ass.
In order to be accepted he has bought into the lie that McCarthy was on a witch hunt in his quest to oust Communists. The first thing Liberals do is acuse someone is chasing McCarthyism sort of akin to being called a racist, the left has this paralleled in order to cover all their bases. Put you on the defensive so that they can safely change the subject and avoid answering the question.
Tail-guner Joe did yoemans work in discovering Communists in Government and else where in the country. Once when a constituents were attacking Joe McCarthy, a young John F. Kenedy defended him, saying, Joe McCarthy was an honorable man.
The left has claimed for years that the Rosenbergs were innocent and all the black lists were cruel and unfair, they were not. When the venona papers were released by the former Soviet Union they proved McCarthy was right and so was Richard Nixon and that the Rosenbergs and Alger HIss were indeed spies and were all guilty. In the end the Army-McCarthy hearings ferreted out alot of communists in the Army and other parts of the government. All in all even the putz Will should know that.
Tom, there sure are, far too many. And I really feel badly for the blacks that are smart and see through all this bs and feel as we do about wanting to work hard and accept people for what they are on the inside not what the hate groups tell them to think.
Carlos, thank you so much. I got the cracker part at Facebook from a group there having some fun with the name cracker and add an old photo. haha
I agree with you about the country lawyer too. I had forgotten he was also a Marine, thanks for sharing all of that.
Your right too se had a safer and better America because of men like that.
