Obama told reporters yesterday that the video of Islamic radicals sawing off a Daniel Pearl’s head with a butter knife “capured the world’s imagination.”
“Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”
.
Wild Thing’s comment…….
There was no imagination to it. It was HORRIFIC. Beheadings do not capture one’s imagination, they horrify. This was not a sporting event – this was the cold blooded, sadistic murder of an innocent human being.
For something like that to capture your imagination, you’d have to be a bloodthirsty jihadist.
Very dubious choice of words. A most inappropriate tone.
Almost admiring…..Neil Armstrong captured the imagination of the world, but L’Affaire Pearl?
Again, I am lost for words.
What is he talkng about “captured the worlds imagination” like he is referring to tinkerbell in Snowwhite. “A free press” like your free press (Barry)in the administration.
Barry, Daniel Pearl died not because he was a journalist but because He was Jewish and an American. Seems that no one in this administration wants to repeat the dirty words, so I’ll say it RADICAL ISLAM.
Thanks for letting me vent!
Good points CB.
Everybody wants to call this Radical Islam, Meaning that there are some not-so Radicals or moderates, somewhere. Where are all those moderates? I have yet to see ‘one’ who says this jihad and killing is wrong, I see ‘honor’ killings of wives, children but I see/hear no moderates condemn these killings, and this jihad.
Its like Diogenes searching for That one honest man in Washington,DC, his lamp will run dry of fuel long before his search ends or Searching for that illusive one moderate moslem ever ends, like Washingon, DC, and its one honest man, it is illusory it doesn’t exist.
CB thank you for pointing all of that out. Very important.
Mark it sure is, good example.
