Israel, To Be or Not to Be by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired

Israel, To Be or Not to Be
by Colonel Bob Pappas, USMC, Retired
The Carter Administration had an evident anti-Semitic bias and in the decades since then Carter has continued to exhibit that bias. This is a fact notwithstanding the historic peace agreement that Carter brokered between Egypt and Israel. Carter continues to blame mid-East tensions and conflict on Israel every time he opens his mouth on the subject. In the interim successive Presidents have met with varying degrees of success in handling the U.S.-Israeli relationships.
The current Administration would probably rather that Israel didn’t exist at all given its consistent anti-Israeli bias notwithstanding spin to the contrary. Any Jew who buys into Obama’s forked tongue language in which on the one hand he declares unyielding support of Israel and on the other makes a veiled threat that support for Israel is to be balanced against other interests, has a questionable desire for the survival of Israel. Obama’s ambivalence can be said to reflect Henry Kissinger’s oft maligned statement, “the U.S. has no permanent friends, it has only permanent interests.” In this instance however, Obama is behaving in a way that equivocates on one of the bedrock interests to which Kissinger made reference, specifically the right of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland is no longer to be assumed.
Israeli-American ties were strong from the moment President Truman granted recognition of Israel on May 14th, 1948, not because the State Department cultivated that strength but because Christians, more specifically Evangelicals in the U.S. have supported Israel out of allegiance to God’s promises contained in the Bible. It is notable that without President Truman’s personal intervention Israel would likely not have achieved nationhood, at least not then and perhaps not within the existing boundaries.
However, judging from the size and shape of Israel the masochist who devised the boundaries could not have done so to more effectively create tension, acrimony and friction between Jews and Arabs; friction that has often resulted in bloodshed. It is not the purpose of this essay to suggest that living as an Arab in Israel is a bed of roses, and likewise even the blind can see that the converse is true.
Given the proclivity of anti-Semites, whose spokesman-in-chief is the President of Iran, to deny the Holocaust reveals an abysmal level of ignorance and denial. Ordinarily such an one would not be taken seriously. Except that, the actor in the instant case happens to be pushing hard for nuclear weapons whose explicit and stated purpose would be to destroy Israel and its, until recently, main supporter, the United States. For those whose minds are not dimmed by the opiate of Obama’s duplicity, there is reason to believe that the President of the United States is attempting to twist Israel’s arm into agreeing to engage in, or in the alternative refrain from activity that is fundamentally against its interests and security.
If one considers Obama’s Muslim heritage and his contemporaneous fawning at the feet of Muslim leaders under the aegis of improving relations, one might be tempted to applaud the stated intent. However, if his objective is to mainstream Islam in the United States (i.e. “America is not a Christian nation;” “The United States is one of the largest Muslim nations in the world.”) as a part of that effort, then it logically follows that Obama is not only the most extreme President in U.S. history, but is willfully anti-American and anti-Semitic given America’s Judeo-Christian heritage.
With that bit of insight, it is outside the bounds of rational thought that American Jews would to support a person who continues to allow if not tacitly foster Iran’s development of nuclear weapons. One can hope Obama’s underlying acrimony toward for the U.S. and Israel will be abated, but the preponderance of evidence is otherwise given his stated predisposition to “stand with Muslims” should push come to shove.
Jewish Americans would do well to embrace their Evangelical supporters and conservative politicians and dump Obama and his cronies in favor of a policy of self-preservation.

The American Jewish Committee poll of U.S. Jews found that Obama’s approval rating is at 57 percent, with 38 percent disapproving. That’s down from the stratospheric 79 percent approval rating among Jews that Obama enjoyed about a year ago, in May 2009.

Matt Brooks, who directs the Republican Jewish Coalition, said the relatively low score on domestic issues underscored what he said was a steady decline in Democratic support among Jewish voters.

“This indicates a serious erosion of support,” he said. “It’s a huge drop. There’s no silver lining” for Democrats.

Obama Supporters To Obama: Hands Off Jerusalem
American Jewish voters voted for Barack Obama in greater numbers than any group, except for African Americans. American Jews worked for and financially supported Obama with unrivaled intensity.
Therefore, it is interesting to note that these rock solid Obama enthusiasts strongly oppose the Obama administration’s policy of dividing Jerusalem. In a recent poll conducted by the international survey firm McLaughlin and Associates, American Jewish voters emphatically endorsed the policy of keeping Jerusalem the undivided capital of Israel:
“Should Jerusalem remain the undivided capital of Israel or should the United States force Israel to give parts of Jerusalem, including Christian and Jewish holy sites, to the Palestinians?”
64% support keeping Jerusalem the undivided capital of Israel
13% support turning it over to the Palestinians
23% did not answer the question.
The poll was conducted after the Obama administration chastised Israel for building in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem.

Wild Thing’s comment………
GREAT write up by the Col.
And I am glad to see the poll numbers dropping for support for obama. Obama has done a lot of damage on so many thiings American and also with his stand against Israel.

I do not understand the liberal tendencies of American Jews. It would seem that they would have just the opposite political viewpoints. So many are well educated and intelligent and successful. Yet they vote Democrat in overwhelming numbers. America’s worst enemy is a Jew, George Soros. He is also an enemy of Israel. Bernie Madoff is a Jew who ripped off many other Jews around the world. Some of the most liberal members of Congress are Jewish.
At the same time, there are Jews with strong conservative viewpoints and unafraid to express them. Our own Cuchieddie and LindaSOG come to mind as well as Pam Geller. Probably one of the finest spokesmen for capitalism was the late Milton Friedman. He could successfully debate the cause of the free market with anyone.
I just hope that the majority of Jews are shocked at what they see obama et al doing to America and Israel and turn their voting preferences around this November.

I read somewhere Jewish families, today, are more lax than they were 40 years ago in far as teaching their children history of the Jewish people, and the sacrifices, and the holocaust. The attitude is that’s past history and no sense to relive it.
That 36% that either don’t know or support giving the arabs half of Jerusalem are standing with their heads in the sand. Carrying the attitude if only we make nice to the arabs they won’t slice our heads off. This kind of fatalistic outlook allowed Hitler to thrive. The Arabs incidently was one of his biggest supporters.
Soros and the Emanuel brothers would lead the Jews again to the gas chambers telling them they were going to the showers, for 30 pieces of silver, of course.
If you forget History you are bound to repeat it. Especially when obama leading the choir.

I wish Jewish people were all like our Eddie and Glenn and Sgt. Steve and loved our country and were not liberals. Maybe one day that will happen.
