Obama Says Bipartisanship, But What He Wants Is GOP Surrender

Obama Says Bipartisanship, But What He Wants Is GOP Surrender
by Mark Knoller, CBS
Unannounced, President Obama took to the lectern in the White House briefing room today to give a personal readout of his meeting earlier with congressional leaders of both parties.

“Despite the political posturing that often paralyzes this town, there are many issues upon which we can and should agree, he said.

It was more a plaintive plea than a political observation. His top legislative priorities are going nowhere and he’s searching for a way to get them out of lockup.
In this 13th month of his presidency, he’s anxious to pass a jobs bill and be seen addressing an unemployment rate that only last week declined from double digits. And his efforts to enact bills on energy, financial regulatory reform and especially health care are stuck in Congress despite the solid majority his party holds in both chambers.
He’s appealing for a spirit of bipartisanship – urging Democrats and Republicans alike “to put aside matters of party for the good of the country.”
It’s a familiar refrain from U.S. presidents who can’t get their way in Congress.
Obama said he “won’t hesitate to embrace a good idea from my friends in the minority party.” But he wants his way. He wants his energy policy enacted along with his jobs bill, his financial regulatory reform and his health care plan.
And if the opposition continues to block his objectives, he said he “won’t hesitate to condemn what I consider to be obstinacy that’s rooted not in substantive disagreement but in political expedience.”

“We must put aside our political differences if we’re ever to set our economy to rights,” said President Reagan in 1982.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
For CBS to write such a thing, the title for sure,…….well Hell Hath Frozen over a little bit. Well done Mr. Knoller, Hope your resume is up to date.
My take on this is that Obama could actually take the MSM down with him, and this fact is beginning to dawn on them.
Obama is not like Clinton, he is incapable of moving to the center. He is a Man of the Left, and knows nothing else.
He just gets angry and frustrated, and instead of appearing all hopeychangey and inspiring, he just seems mean and angry in his pubic appearances.
The MSM is already widely perceived by the American people as being in the tank for Obama.
If Obama loses his personal popularity (his policies are already unpopular), then there is nothing left – he will be an abject failure. I think some in the MSM are beginning to foresee the possibility of such a loss of personal popularity.
Maybe these folks noticed that Jake Tapper’s career didn’t implode just because he started asking reasonably fair questions of the Obama White House.
Obama never does anything that will not be planned ahead to take advantage of those he is asking something from. I hope and pray the Republilcans will be VERY strong . Heck they could even bring our Constitution with them and force him to sit there and have it read to them.

….Thank you Mark for sending this to me.

I am not saying anything new, just affirming..I was watching his :45 sec “corpse-men” clip with no sound. There had been much said about the tennis match/ping pong style of his head turns…Of that there is plenty. But what really stood out to me was his lack of ownership on what he was saying – the content is pristine with no heart, he merely reads words. There is such a repetition of a few head/face movements that that is what he focuses on, not the meaning of the words at all. This disconnect we have heard so many say has spiraled down to disingenuous and hit bottom with a loss of power and respect. It’s just SO depressing that we have to face this for 3 long more years.

BobF says:

Maybe Knoller is looking for a job at FOX? That’s where an honest journalist goes after they leave the MSM networks.

Eddie (Enemy of the State) says:

Chrissie, I think you were being far far to kind when you referred to the CIC (coward in charge) as a man. He is not even close to beiong a man.

Avitar says:

Many members of the MSM have realized that the business model that allowed so many liberals telling the common folk what to think has changed. The internet was only 8 years old when Clinton left office, now over 75 million Americans have broadband connections and Google is driving to accelerate that by building a second generation broadband network.
People are not very common with almost University level history leassons being presented by Glen Beck. That he gets the second highest ratings on cable news violates their belief system.

Wild Thing says:

Jan, well said, good one.
BobF., haha he might be. He better know he is walking on thin ice when he does truthful write ups and the left does not like the truth.
Eddie, LOL that is sooo true. Thanks.
Avitar, good point, thank you.
