Hundreds of protesters waved signs and railed against big government today in what organizers billed as part of a cross-country tour.
The Tea Party Express Tour stopped in Las Vegas near Las Vegas Boulevard and Sunset Road and will eventually make its way to Washington, D.C. Organizers estimated 700 to 900 people attended.
The protesters rallied against what they see as big government — health care, deficit spending and bailouts.
Protester Teri Willis said she was there “because I love my country.”
She said her son is a Marine and she does not trust Obama to keep him safe.
Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper is reporting that Senator Harry Reid launched a broadside against the newspaper, telling advertising director Bob Brown: “I hope you go out of business.”
At a time when Nevada is suffering an unemployment rate of over 12%, Harry Reid has revealed he hopes hundreds more will become unemployed at the Las Vegas newspaper.
Reid’s verbal attack against Nevada’s largest newspaper comes at the same time he has criticized tea party supporters, deriding them as “evil-mongers.”
Tea Party Express Vice Chairman, Mark Williams, issued the following statement about Reid’s recent verbal outbursts:
“Harry Reid seems to have a big problem with people exercising their free speech rights, and his arrogance towards others is catching up with him.

The tour’s next stop is Flagstaff, Ariz.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
That is an awesome turn out for Vegas. The summer heat there is way over 100 and to stand in a parking lot whew even hotter when you do that. God bless them all for being there and speaking out and their fantastic signs. I love to see the signs. There is something so much more special about homemade signs like we have been seeing.
I read that dems are trying to get their “protestors” to make their own signs but are having trouble
none of them know how to spell and besides they say they don’t get paid for making signs. LOL
Lots of chatter on the LVRJ and Sun boards about this and all things political…especially Reid. The trolls are upping their rhetoric…but an alarming thing I’m noticing is how previously PC and more civil anti-Obama/Dem Congress posters are angrier and have stopped giving a crap who they offend.
Their official unem rate is over 13%, but it’s probably more like 20%. It’s not getting any better, either. This winter the huge City Center (or City Cemetary as they call it there since 6 died building it and 2 more on the new one next to it) opens with 12,000 new jobs…many of which they will weed out a few months later like they always do after a new joint opens. But these new rooms take away jobs from other casinos, plus construction people are out of work. Hopefully most of those construction workers will go back to their homeland (oh yeah, heavily employed with illegals)…but they could just as easily hang out on unemployment.
The illegals are pissing the people off that are unemployed, more and more talk about it everyday. The unemployed have a lot more time to stew about why they can’t get a job.
There’s also two huge casino projects stalled, one may never restart. Two other towers are partly built and just sitting with cranes doing nothing. Another huge tower was built and finished on the outside, but is a non-functional shell on the inside.
A lot of them blame some of their problems on Obama’s statement about you can’t go to Vegas…blah blah blah…cutting down on convention business which they depend on. Others blame Reid for various reasons, including not saying anything to contradict Obama’s blunderous statement.
Reid is toast…but who knows what will replace him…but I am confident that he won’t be re-elected. They’ve also charged the ACORN peeps there with fraud, so they will be keeping an eye on them.
Love the comment about the dems. making their own signs. Why should they when the Government will do it for them. Just like everything else in their lives.
Reid is under such heavy attack and down by double digits, I hear. Got to hand it to the Nevadans, they are not afraid to challenge the system. I hope that my fellow Californians, do the same with Barbara Boxer. I have my doubts, however.
Beware of Harry’s projected…
CA$H FOR HOOKER$!
A taste of government options i.e. Socialism. Some of us utilized the GI Bill, it took well over 90days for that first woefully inadequate check to roll in back in ’70, then it had a hairball of strings attached as to how it could be spent. I see nothing has changed!!!
Got a medical problem, you’ll feel like a trained seal going through flaming hoops to get your tidbit. I see that unmistakable trend in my private care system as they implement some of the ‘enhancements’ being proposed. That private doctor will no longer be able to compete on their own competence alone and why should they, when they can hire on and provide the minimum with zero risk. As it stands now, the nurses take all the vitals, the medico eyeballs the patient, outsources for more tests where their role is to diagnose and prescribe, patient time is limited to about 20 minutes per visit, with the subtle knock on the door as a reminder that they work for the company. Once the competitive incentive is gone we may as well pick any one of Obama’s native family witchdoctors.
The signs are great, home made not like the thugs, fresh off the printing press of the Union thugs.
The one in particular,
Thanks 2 Barak, America’s
is going Baroke.
It’s really lame to accuse these common people, the ones who actually work for a living, of being a front for(Astro-turf as oppose to Grassroots) Insurance Companies, the RNC, … Hand painted signs is the best these companies can do for their supporters ?
Eden, oh wow thank you so much for all of
the information.
SEAN,LOL me too what a great comment
that was.
Darth, hahahahaha
Jack, this is what he wants to kill….
the competitive spirit in all things.
” Once the competitive incentive is gone we may as well pick any one of Obama’s native family witchdoctors.”
Mark, I agree it sure is. Every time
I watch any of these vidoes about Tea Party
or Townhalls any of them where we see people
taking a stand for our country, their signs
so many things I cry, I get tears in my eyes
every single time. It is so moving and so
beautiful, the American spirit of pride
in ones country and wanting to keep it safe
from harm…..the harm that Obama is doing to
our country.
