Changing of the Guard – Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Changing of the Guard – Tomb of the Unknown Soldier…..It’s the Rifle Inspection part of the Ceremony.

Wild Thing’s comment……
I think this is fascinating. I have seen it before in person and it is even more amazing to watch.

….Thank you JohnE PFC U.S. Army for sending this to me.

I love it! Chrissie, you never knew this but I had an opportunity to be a member of the Old Guard (3rd Inf) but turned it down because of the discipline and strict regimentation that was required. I would however appreciate the link so I can send it to my Mrs to see.

Mark says:

Sheesh, I didn’t think that soldier was going to pass that inspection, white gloves and all.

WW II & Korean War Leatherneck Gunny Dad Vader (81-years old) rates a burial at Arlington when he checks out… What an eternal resting place and such sacred ground! The movie ‘Garden of Stone’ was wonderful and James Caan was superb. A must see movie. “Greater no love than this, than a man who lays down his life for a friend.”
– John 15:13

cuchieddie – double click on the video and that will give you the link to give to stepps. I was pretty good at close order drill and Manual of Arms, but I don’t think I would have had the discipline for The Old Guard either.
darth – Garden of Stone was a great movie.
My brother’s ashes are interred at Arlington.

Wild Thing says:

cuchieddie, that is so neat that you were interested in doing that.
I sent you the link in case you don’t see the commment from Tom. hahha but then again you won’t see this one either if you don’t see his.
LOL hello Chrissie!

Lynn says:

I know a young man who was one of honor guard during Clinton’s second term and Bush’s first. He was a barber at the Pentagon as his M.O. and thank God it was his day off on 9-11, but he went in and helped out. I will always hold Brandon in my heart, even though he is very far away now. We helped raise him and his brother Callum. I felt like a granny when they had their own children. I love the Honor Guard and they deserve such respect.

Wild Thing says:

Mark, giggle
Since this video shows it up close like that I was sitting here and really saw how fast he grabbed the gun from the other Marine. It was so fast like the blink of an eye. I guess I had forgotten how fast they do that. WOW. Amazing.

Wild Thing says:

Darth God bless your Dad.
I agree about that movie too, excellent.

Wild Thing says:

Tom, I am so sorry about your brother.
I am glad he is at Arlington it is such a very special place.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn, thank yo uso much for sharing about Brandon. I agree with you the Honor Guard is fantastic.
