The Future of the Republic is at risk!

Martina McBride – God Bless America (LIVE)

To Arms, Republicans!
GOPublius
It was June 1940. An undefeated and many thought unstoppable Adolf Hitler rolled across the European continent. From the air, the Luftwaffe dominated the skies of Europe, and would soon lay waste the venerable and ancient English capitol. Fear gripped a British citizenry low on food, ammunition, fighting men, and spirit. The full fury of the Bilitz was only months away, and Britain was all alone in its struggle against NAZI tyranny. In this climate of seemingly overwhelming odds, the dogged and pugnacious British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, rose before the House of Commons to deliver one of his most stirring speeches. Knowing full well the awful price of defeat, and deploying all his considerable rhetorical skill, Churchill challenged and inspired his fellow countrymen and women to fight on to the bitter end:

“We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender…”

Churchill’s speech rallied the British people who fought on alone. But Churchill’s words inspired many hearts. Less than two years later and thousands of miles from the British capitol, men like Admiral John McCain were answering Churchill’s eloquent call in defense of freedom. Rarely since those days has liberty faced such peril, but Churchill’s words have inspired many, no matter the contest or field of endeavor, to fight on. More than simply an echo of trying times, Churchill’s speech reminds us that when an important battle must be fought, it is incumbent upon each of us, individually and in unison, to go above and beyond the call of duty in pursuit of victory.
And so it is, that we find ourselves on the eve of a historic election for America. No elections are without profound consequences, but not since 1980 has America been faced with such a stark political and ideological dichotomy. John McCain is not the perfect conservative, but whatever his faults, John McCain is now all that stands between Reagan’s America and a disastrous turn toward socialism. With Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi in charge of our Congress, and a President Obama ensconced in the Oval Office, leftist redistributionist policy will flow like water. Taxes hikes, profligate spending, and government expansion will unfold like storm clouds. The unionization of our private sector will begin in earnest and the end of the hitherto sacred secret ballot will come to pass. Our most cherished rights will be assaulted: from our freedom to express our religion, to our right to have and bear arms, to the very heart of the American spirit, the freedom of speech – which will wither under government imposed “fairness” guidelines. Our troops who have fought valiantly to secure a new future and a lasting peace in the Middle East will be undermined from home. The fight against Islamic extremism will end. The next justices on the Supreme Court will consider judicial activism their calling and judge-made law their right. Internationalism, foreign law, and sovereignty-undermining treaties will be the order of the day. Extreme environmentalism will trump all economic and business needs, and the promise of energy independence in the form of nuclear power, increased domestic oil production and natural gas will shrivel under draconian green legislation and government mandates. Like Gulliver amidst his captors, the great American juggernaut, already reeling from an economic blow of largely Democratic making, will succumb; death by 1,000 cuts. Not since the days of Carter will America have known such a malaise. The death of liberty by the hand of equality.
But it is not a future that has to be. Hope remains.
John McCain is first to acknowledge that he is the underdog in this present contest, and many have proclaimed a McCain victory nearly impossible. Yet, with a strong final debate performance, a new sense that the American people are at last considering the true consequences of their choice in leader, and climbing poll numbers, a McCain victory remains possible. The odds are still unfavorable, and the task considerable, but in these final days, now is the time that every man and woman who cares about the hard won conservative gains of the Reagan Revolution must stand and fight. It will take more than merely voting, more than a yard sign or a bumper sticker, or a casual comment to a neighbor. It will take a sure and determined effort to mobilize every last Republican and independent vote.
In the end, it is not the media who decides our future, it is We, the People. So let us decide. Let us take our future into our own hands. In the spirit of Churchill, let us call forth every last remaining fighter. Family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues, parishioners, teammates, fellow students, and more. Even complete strangers and sometimes adversaries must be called upon and mobilized in this effort. Ask yourself not merely what you will do come Election Day, but what you can and must do between now and then. The Left is mobilized and organized. They will be bringing to the polls thousands of voters who have never cast a ballot before. On their side stands all the media with its long and duplicitous tentacles gripping the fountainheads of public opinion. Indeed, all the World whose interests lie in a weakened and demoralized America are willing your defeat.
So up with the rally cry! Dig in, mobilize and fight. We can win this election, and save America from a dreadful future, but only if we commit ourselves to delivering, with one resounding voice, the timeless battle cry of the victors: never surrender!

Wild Thing’s comment………….
This might be our last chance to fight back in an election for our country. I pray we win and we need to do all we can to make sure McCain and Palin win and thus America will win too.
For me this is the most important election in my lifetime. I have never seen anything like what this one has been like. The media controlling the news and pushing Obama like we have never seen the media promote a candidate.

Lynn says:

Nor do I! I love my daughters too much to let some slick salesman take us down the river to ruin. What kind of mother would I be if I let them down now? What would I say to them on my deathbed? How I tried all I could but I am left ashamed by my inaction? Or that I’m proud to have been part of something wonderful that gave them the path to enlightenment and freedom?
I think it’s time to reinvent William Wallace. Those of us who are slightly less cordial than Obamanation is used to. Joe the Plumber started it rolling now let’s get it done!
My daughters and my nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers are all worth my fighting this war against a tyrant who will stop at nothing to control this land and lead us into an impoverished wasteland where no one has anything. We fought for our freedoms more than once against the British, the Mexicans, the southern states, against fascism and Nazism. Our documents, The Declaration of Independence, The US Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Gettysburg Address, do these words mean nothing to anyone? They were written for us, to read and understand and live their very words. We see into the minds of our great leaders who were thoughtful enough to put pen to paper and give us FREEDOM!
Man, to have met Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, and we can–by reading their works and enjoying what they gave us so many years ago. Powerful stuff, there. Let’s not let this nation vanish from the Earth. Let’s fight for her freedom, too–not just for me and you, but for everyone!!! We are so worth it. Cast out the demon and embrace the man who will lead us into a brighter tomorrow for everyone.

I intend to defend the Republic for Ricky, Bailee, Lennon, Gianna, Piper, Autumn, Joseph, and Jenna. These are my grandchildren. It is that time in my life where I will act for them. The one commenter is correct about acting like william Wallace and even like those men who gathered in Philadelphia and Richmond when we were a colony of King George III. It is time to bring the Minutemen back. I am still a Minuteman and I retired from active service in 1993. But Thomas Payne would see little difference in this day and age. It is not a .75 calibre Brown Bess but a 1918 SMLE in .303 British that stands at the ready for service. It may come to the point where I will be forced to take up arms. I DO NOT want this to happen but I am prepared in that eventuality. Yes, I do understand the consequences and I am prepared to face them, full on. Any other man of honor would be prepared to do the same.
The Old Retired Petty Officer still considers himself in his country’s service. However when the potential President of The United States has declared himself and open communist and a threat to the security and sovereignty of the Nation, a stand must be taken. So the service will no longer be to the CinC but to his fellow citizens of whom this Old Retired Petty Officer took the Oath Of Enlistment for on five occasions over a twenty year career. It still means something and it will until the day I leave this world.
Oh and for **** and giggles, should the barackenstein decide the UN supercedes our own sovereignty, anyone in a baby blue beret had better not piss me off.

The Nazi spies and wanna be saboteurs that landed on Long Island and the Florida coastline from their U-Boats were caught by Hoover’s FBI and later ELECTROCUTED by FDR! (Most were electrocuted and only a few imprisoned and later released)… Today, they would be called “Freedom fighters” by the Looney Left and hired by blue state universities, eh? I apologize to my father, mother and their GREATEST GENERATION on behalf of my poop culture of materialism and anarchists and traitors…

Les says:

FDR said, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. Well, today we have a problem that people don’t fear enough. The fact that more people don’t see the real dangers in a President Obama is equivalent to someone with immune deficiency. They are left unprotected to all sorts of diseases.
The country without legitimate fears is unprotected from the likes of Barack Hussein Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Charlie Rangel, Joe Biden, and the rest of the far left socialist crowd out to destroy the Constitution and what made the country great. They will also compromise our national security putting everyone at risk of their freedoms.
If people aren’t afraid, very afraid, on Nov. 4th then we, and the country, are in deep trouble.

Mark says:

Yeah, that was a good movie, Braveheart. I particularlly liked the part where the Irish are lined up with the British and when it starts they attack the English.
But if I remember right, they cut his head off at the end. Maybe we should re-invent George Washington. The two outcomes are in stark contrast to one another. We won the revolution and our independance. The Scots were dominated for another 500 years.
The only way we are going to win this thing is to vote and drag, conjole, or piss off your neighbor but get him to the polls as well.
Again I say to you don’t believe the polls or the main stream media. McGovern was ahead of Nixon in 72, the press even had him in the white house too and he was less a liberal that these two POS’s and he lost big time. Don’t underestimate the power of the American People and their common sense.

Wild Thing says:

Lynn,well said!!
I have been talking up this election to everyone I can. There are things we can do now and like you shared the other day how you have talked to people too.

Wild Thing says:

GM Cassel AMH1(AW) USN RETIRED, ” barackenstein”…this is a good name for it.
I honestly don’t think Obama realizes just how much our freedom means to us, how much we won’t just hand over our country to him. My prayers are that this election will prove to Obama his ways are not wanted, not by the voters. Not when it comes down to the wire of the actual votes and the hell with the polls that can so easily be altered.
You and so many on here have served our country and deserve better. Your families, all of our families and loved ones deserve the freedom that has been bought at such a high price for all of us. Obama does not get that either.

Wild Thing says:

Darth, thank you and that is interesting about that. I must have forgotten that from my old history books, thank you.
We must not give up yet, not till it really tells us we have lost. There is still a chance we can win and a lot of the time I feel we will win.
More then anything we need to keep talking it up to people and trying to show them why to vote for the Republican ticket.
Thanks again Darth.

Wild Thing says:

Les, AMEN, “Well, today we have a problem that people don’t fear enough”….they want to forget about 9-11, and how other countries have gone down hill being socialist, communist etc.
The rest of what you said is good too.

Wild Thing says:

Mark, your absolutely right.
I have been talking McCain and Palin up to everyone. Calling people and when I am out and doing things.
When they mention the polls I tell them to they mean little, it is the actual vote that counts.
